Kotone Asaba ended up covering the entirety of Fami’s dinner.

That evening, they went to a seafood restaurant and practically bought out its entire stock of fresh seafood.

Under the stunned gazes of the restaurant manager and servers, nearly a hundred empty plates were eventually left on the table.

Fami’s single meal cost Kotone well over a hundred thousand yen.

He wasn’t short on money, but spending over a hundred thousand yen on one meal was still fucking terrifying!

"Over a hundred thousand yen per meal. That’s at least three to five hundred thousand a day. Over a month, that comes out to more than ten million yen. And over a whole year..."

Kotone roughly calculated the numbers in his head, and his scalp practically went numb.

He suddenly realized that he had severely underestimated Fami’s appetite.

At this point, he was essentially financially supporting her, and she definitely wasn’t someone an ordinary person could afford to keep. Food alone would cost more than ten million yen every month.

He would have to hunt down more than a dozen fairly valuable Devils just to make that much money!

These expenses were completely ridiculous...

"You said you’d always make sure I was full."

Fami spoke up.

Although her face remained expressionless, Kotone could faintly detect a trace of amusement deep in her eyes.

Naturally, he noticed it. It almost felt like Fami was looking down on him.

Was he supposed to just take that?

"A promise is a promise!"

So what if it was ten million yen a month? He’d just earn more!

Ten million yen per month certainly sounded absurd, but it still wasn’t enough to put Kotone under any serious financial pressure.

At the moment, he already had tens of millions of yen in savings alone.

...

"Seriously, with an appetite that insane, how did you survive before this? Did you actually have that much money yourself?"

As they walked along, Kotone asked Fami curiously.

"If there was food, I ate. If there wasn’t, I went hungry. It’s not like starvation can kill me."

Fami answered calmly.

She had spent so long constantly hungry that she had already grown used to it.

In the human world, she couldn’t exactly steal money or dine and dash in broad daylight whenever she pleased, since attracting that kind of attention would interfere with her plans.

Only when absolutely necessary, such as when carrying out certain plans involving the War Devil, would she inevitably resort to breaking the law.

Before Kotone started treating her to meals, the only place Fami had ever been able to eat her fill was in Hell.

But what she ate there was other Devils, and she had never particularly liked the taste.

Especially after coming to the human world and experiencing human cuisine, she had fallen completely in love with it. From that point on, she had lost all interest in the flesh and blood of other Devils.

"I see."

Kotone nodded slightly.

So Fami did have some principles, just not very many.

Most of the time she behaved herself and didn’t harm humans, but the moment something involved one of her plans concerning the War Devil, she could kill without hesitation.

Still, starting today, Fami had "voluntarily" reached an agreement to cooperate with him. That should basically prevent her from slaughtering innocent people in the future.

"By the way, are you seriously going to keep your neck tilted like that forever? Can’t you straighten it?"

Kotone suddenly couldn’t resist commenting on it.

In truth, he had wanted to bring it up for a long time. Ever since the first time they met, he had never once seen Fami hold her head completely straight.

"I can straighten it. There’s just no need."

Fami replied flatly.

As she spoke, she actually straightened her neck for a moment, only to tilt it again immediately afterward. Clearly, she had done it purely to demonstrate that she could.

"Okay, never mind then."

Now Kotone finally understood.

He had just paid closer attention to the pair of earrings hanging from Fami’s earlobes. Judging by the way they swung, they seemed to have a bit of weight to them, and the earring on the left was noticeably heavier.

That was apparently why her head was always tilted to the left.

In other words, whenever Fami relaxed, the weight naturally made her neck lean left. If she wanted to keep her head straight, she had to consciously put effort into doing so.
