Even though the entry fee had been accepted and Fami’s registration was already complete, that didn’t stop the staff member from continuing to look at her skeptically.
Could such a slender, delicate-looking high school girl really compete in an eating contest?
Most of the other contestants were several weight classes heavier than her.
If there hadn’t been an entry fee, she would have looked exactly like someone who had come just for fun. To put it nicely, she was "just here to participate." To put it less kindly, she was trying to score a free meal.
Since she had paid, though, the only other explanation was that she had come to throw her money away.
Judging from the staff member’s expression and eyes, Kotone Asaba could more or less guess what he was thinking.
Clearly, the guy was seriously doubting Fami.
Kotone had no intention of saying anything about it. In a little while, Fami would naturally crush all those doubts with overwhelming results.

By this point, all the contestants in the eating competition had taken their places.
Aside from Fami, nearly everyone participating was a large, burly man. There were a few adult men with more average builds who weren’t especially muscular or overweight, but none of them looked anything like Fami, who was standing there in a high school uniform.
As a result, Fami was by far the most conspicuous person there.

The crowd of curious spectators gathered nearby had also focused their attention on Fami.
"Is that girl seriously not joking around?"

The crowd immediately began discussing her.
Fami remained expressionless throughout, seemingly ignoring all the stares and comments around her.
Kotone stood off to the side as Fami’s supporter, watching the competition alongside the friends and family of the other contestants.
A short while later, the eating contest officially began.
Everyone immediately started devouring food as quickly as possible, fighting for every second without the slightest concern for table manners. They were practically shoveling food down their throats.
The contestants were all so focused on eating that they had no attention to spare for anyone else. At most, they occasionally glanced at the people beside them from the corners of their eyes.
The spectators, however, could see everything clearly.
The high school girl everyone had been doubting just moments ago not only had the neatest table manners of anyone there, but was also eating at an astonishing speed.
The difference between her and every other contestant was immediately obvious.
Without question, she was the fastest person in the entire competition.
The surrounding crowd nearly dropped their jaws.
That high school girl was actually this good?!
How did that make any sense?!
She looked like a delicate young student, yet she was far more ferocious at the table than all those huge, heavyset grown men!
Kotone alone remained completely calm.
Fami’s performance was exactly what he had expected.
Gradually, the other contestants also began noticing Fami’s absurd eating speed, which was completely at odds with her slim appearance.
Only then did they begin to panic.
But it was already pointless.
The gap had become far too large for any of them to catch up.
Only ten minutes after the competition began, everyone present stared dumbfounded at the mountain of empty plates piled up in front of Fami.
The fastest contestant besides her had not even reached the halfway point.
