Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Yuki Kirisu

At that moment, Kotone Asaba was following Himeno and Aki Hayakawa to the office where their superior was.

"Right, I should warn you ahead of time, Asaba. That superior is Yuki Kirisu, the daughter of Public Safety Minister Takafumi Kirisu. Maybe it’s because she’s still young, but her personality is kind of... how should I put it... she gets carried away very easily, and if you give her an inch, she’ll take a mile."

Himeno warned him, "So if anything happens later, you should probably just put up with it."

Gets carried away, and if you give her an inch, she’ll take a mile?

Kotone Asaba thought about it. That probably meant this Yuki Kirisu was rather arrogant.

After all, she was the daughter of the Public Safety Minister, and she was still young. It was only normal for her to be an arrogant little princess.

But that aside, Public Safety Minister...

Kotone Asaba remembered that in his previous world, Japan’s Cabinet did not have a position called Public Safety Minister. It was probably a role unique to the Chainsaw Man world, a position specially responsible for managing Public Safety across Japan.

However, the original story had never mentioned a Public Safety Minister, because by the original timeline, the core figure of Tokyo Public Safety was already Makima, and Makima had formed a contract with Japan’s Prime Minister. Her position was that of a Devil Hunter directly under the Cabinet Secretariat.

To put it simply, the Cabinet Secretariat was an organization that assisted the Prime Minister, so Makima mainly served the Prime Minister.

With so many ministers in the Cabinet, there was basically no way they all belonged to the same faction. The only question was what kind of relationship the Public Safety Minister had with the Prime Minister.

Putting aside his previous world, Kotone Asaba viewed the Prime Minister of the Chainsaw Man world as a villain. In the original story, Makima had been deliberately raised into what she became after being discovered by the Japanese Cabinet.

When Makima had first arrived in the human world, she should have been like Nayuta, instinctively aware that she was the Control Devil. Saying she was pure as a blank sheet of paper might have been an exaggeration, but she definitely would not have been as extreme as she became later.

The more closely a Devil’s appearance resembled a human’s, the friendlier it tended to be toward humans. The Angel Devil had no hostility toward humans, and even the Spider Devil, who looked half-human and half-spider, would not casually hurt people as long as she was not provoked.

The Control Devil had only just come to the human world to search for the Chainsaw Devil, but the Japanese Cabinet discovered her. Makima, who originally bore no hostility toward humans, was used by the Cabinet and deliberately raised into the Makima she later became.

The Prime Minister was absolutely the mastermind, and he had even used Japanese citizens as the price for his contract. Gambling the nation’s fate like that really was an old Japanese tradition.

In the original story, the reason Kishibe handed Nayuta over to Denji to raise was because he did not want Nayuta to be raised by the Cabinet into a second Makima.

Just then, a thought suddenly occurred to Kotone Asaba.

If he discovered the Control Devil after she arrived in the human world before the Japanese Cabinet did, what kind of changes would happen?

Still, that was something he could only think about. Trying to find Makima before the Japanese Cabinet did was easier said than done. He did not even know whether Makima had already come to the human world yet.

If the Makima he met by then had already been twisted by the Japanese Cabinet, then he would have no choice but to make a plate of ginger pork out of her.

Kotone Asaba had already arrived at Yuki Kirisu’s office.

Aki Hayakawa and Himeno both stopped in front of the office door at the same time.

Aki Hayakawa even said, "Good luck."

"..."

Kotone Asaba immediately had a bad feeling.

It seemed neither Aki Hayakawa nor Himeno wanted to interact with that superior.

Kotone Asaba stopped thinking about it and gently knocked on the door.

"Why not just open the door and come in? Are you waiting for me to open it for you? You can’t even do something that simple. What a small fry~"

A teasing voice immediately came from inside.

Hearing that, Kotone Asaba was a little stunned.

Wasn’t knocking first basic manners? Besides, she clearly could have just said, "Come in."

He felt like he had still underestimated her. This was no longer just arrogance, it was being unreasonable.

Aki Hayakawa and Himeno’s faces showed no real reaction. It seemed they had already grown used to their superior behaving like this.

Kotone Asaba held himself back and said nothing. He opened the door and walked into the office.

Then he saw the blonde girl sitting behind the desk. Her features were delicate, and she was clearly of mixed heritage. Her long golden hair had a single cowlick sticking up, her eyes were blue, and she was wearing a Public Safety uniform.

Her small, dainty figure made her look like a little kid. Even what was probably the smallest Public Safety uniform still had sleeves that were too long, and her small hands could not reach out of the cuffs at all.

She sat on the chair with her legs crossed, assuming a haughty posture.

Kotone Asaba could not help being slightly stunned. A leading figure in Tokyo Public Safety was actually a tiny mixed-heritage girl, and one with a nasty mouth at that.

"Mm-hm? Did my beauty leave you staring? I’m sorry a lady as cute as me is such a burden~"

Yuki Kirisu had a smug smile on her face and bragged about herself without blushing at all.

"No, I was just wondering why one of Tokyo Public Safety’s leaders is an elementary school kid."

Kotone Asaba said it bluntly.

Outside the door, Aki Hayakawa and Himeno both heard what Kotone Asaba said, and their expressions changed slightly.

Himeno thought she had miscalculated. She had forgotten to warn Asaba about that. Saying something like that in front of Miss Kirisu was taboo.

"What did you say? Elementary school kid?!"

Yuki Kirisu immediately puffed up like a cat with its fur standing on end, even baring a little fang. She stood directly on the chair with her hands on her hips, seemingly because that was the only way she could be a bit taller than Kotone Asaba.

"You rude small fry, listen carefully! I am a genius girl who returned from studying in Britain, I am fluent in multiple languages, and I am one year older than you!"

Yuki Kirisu placed special emphasis on that last sentence.

"You’re already seventeen?"

A look of surprise appeared on Kotone Asaba’s face.

Judging by eye, this girl’s height was probably only about 1.4 meters / 4 feet 7 inches, and her frame was also very petite. Anyone who did not know better really would think she was an elementary school kid.

Seeing the surprise on Kotone Asaba’s face, Yuki Kirisu smiled proudly. "Now you know how amazing I am, right? Next time, remember to call me Miss Kirisu."

"Yes, yes, Miss Kirisu. Then may I ask if Miss Kirisu can get to business now?"

Kotone Asaba felt rather helpless.

Even if she really was seventeen, he had already started treating her like an elementary school kid.

"Business? There’s no real business. I called you here just because I wanted to see what you were like."

Yuki Kirisu’s tone was extremely casual. She did not seem like a leader at all.

"I do have business. A yakuza group tied to the Hamano family has a large amount of Gun Devil flesh pieces hidden away."

Kotone Asaba said.

Now that he had joined Tokyo Public Safety, it was about time to clean up those yakuza bastards.

"A yakuza group tied to the Hamano family? Do you have evidence?"

Yuki Kirisu’s expression turned serious for the first time.

"Not for now, but I will very soon."

Kotone Asaba said calmly.
