Chapter 406: Chapter 404:Cold.
"Is that... it?" The being of constellation light sounded confused as she laid her gaze on the bundle before her.
No. She hadn’t pushed to give birth. The little spawn, as she called him, had just appeared when it was time, and now, Devouring Chaos was confused, so much so that she didn’t even bother with the overwhelming sense of weakness that had come over her.
"Aunt Devouring, is that it?" The voice of Shaia sounded out, confused and curious.
"I believe it is, Shaia."
"So, what now?"
"How am I supposed to know that, Shaia?"
"Well, you’re the one that has been to other creations, you should know what they do at this stage, no?"
"Hmmm..." The being addressed as Aunt Devouring made a humming noise as though in thought, but then...
BANG!!!
A subtle explosion sounded out...
"Wait..." The being’s nonexistent eyes widened in comic realization as the lacking space trembled, the translucent figure of a black-haired, black-eyed ravishing woman also appearing.
She looked like she was there and at the same time not. But that was beside the point, because...
"Did... did I just hear sound?" Shaia asked, disbelieving of the words leaving her mouth.
Yes, she and Aunt Devouring had been communicating, but that had nothing to do with the concept of sound. This place, Devouring Chaos’s domain, was bare of any aspect of creation, so the concept of "sound" didn’t exist.
But now, they had just heard a...
"Hehehehehehehe..." A soft giggle echoed through the lacking expanse once more as both figures froze.
THUMP!
Devouring Chaos. This ancient being of pure laziness felt her nonexistent heart or whatever would be a fair replacement thump violently at the sound of that voice.
"So... beautiful..." Shaia cooed.
A warm presence surrounded what had appeared before the two.
It didn’t look anything like what a being born within Infinity should. It looked like what those beings of chaos created within their realms of existence.
"Aunt Devouring, did you have any particular images in mind when you did this?" Shaia asked, unable to take her gaze away from the infant that was completely unaffected by his surroundings.
"I... did not." Devouring Chaos was equally stumped.
"Ahehehehehe!!!" The little infant suddenly giggled loudly, and then...
HUMMMMMMMMM!!!!!
The lacking expanse was instantly... DENIED!
"Whaaaa..." Devouring Chaos and Shaia could only watch in stupefaction as existence threatened to take shape, the very essence of lacking having been outright refused by the infant within her.
"So that’s your own origin... Denial." Devouring Chaos mused.
"But isn’t that impossible? Aunt Devouring, didn’t you say you gave up your origin to do this? Shouldn’t his origin be Devouring?" Shaia asked, confused.
"It should’ve been. But it seems as a being of chaos himself, he was still created with his own origin, and what a powerful one it is." Devouring Chaos’s presence mellowed as her attention remained locked onto the wide-eyed infant, his eyes a tapestry woven from the essence of creation as they swirled with constellations within.
"Shaia... I present to you, Denying Chaos. First of his kind, wielder of my own origin, and the very first being of chaos to wield two distinct origins."
Shaia’s eyes remained fixated on the infant, and as if feeling her sharp stare, the child turned, offering her a smile that ensnared the unsuspecting maiden forever...
...
Time within inexistence is something impossible to comprehend. Whether it moved or not at all was something even the beings of Infinity themselves had stopped bothering to understand.
But for Devouring Chaos and Shaia, they could, for the first time in what they could proudly say was ages, feel the passage of time.
The reason? The bundle of joy that Devouring Chaos had created out of curiosity.
They watched as the little child grew. They cared not for the passage of time. The child grew, not just physically, but mentally and ability-wise.
His mother had dubbed him Denying Chaos, and he had taken that title to heart.
He had done what none of the other chaos beings did, barring his eccentric mother, of course.
Denying Chaos had trained. He had devoted his entire time to learning the nature of his origin. And with his mother and Shaia around, it was never a dull moment.
And so, he grew. And grew. Until eventually, he was even able to begin denying his mother’s very own origin, as Denying Chaos rejected the concept of ever being devoured.
Devouring Chaos had been ecstatic, so much so that she decided on the spot to relinquish her entire origin to her child, but that would prove a choice too fatal to bear.
.....
"Shaia... this..." Denying Chaos, or rather, Dante, as Shaia saw fit to call him, spoke out uneasily.
"Shh... why are you being a prude? It’s not like it’s our first time." Shaia giggled. The daughter of Nothingness, giggling. Forget giggling; she had actually made herself be present.
"I know, but this still feels... like something we shouldn’t be doing," was what he said, yet he refused to let her go as their naked bodies pressed against each other.
"Shh... isn’t this how they showed affection within those realms of creation we snuck into?"
"But that was merely what pitiful ants do. We’re above such things."
"And you couldn’t have said so before doing all that with me?"
"I would be a fool to use my own mouth and ruin such a good time." He nodded sanctimoniously.
"You’re such a bore sometimes, you know that, right?"
"Mother said I was born to be above all and should set my sights as such."
"Well, Aunt Devouring can be very domineering with her words sometimes."
"But she isn’t wrong, though. I mean..." Saying so, Dante waved his hands, and the very essence of what made Shaia herself was outright DENIED!
"Hey!!!!" The fading-out Shaia was suddenly made present once more.
"If you’re going to be coy, at least do it wholeheartedly." He smiled fondly as he reached out and held Absence.
"Humph. You’re no fun." She grumbled, placing her head back on his chest.
"You were the one to introduce me to those interesting aspects, and now you complain?" Dante smiled.
"I thought you were acting all shy earlier. What happened?"
"Ever heard of acting? I think I saw something similar when we invaded Unity’s creation. The beings there were always creepy, like they had no sense of consciousness on their own."
"Yeah. Unifying Chaos can be freaky like that." Shaia giggled.
"Like you?" Dante asked with a smile.
"Oh, shut it," Shaia replied with a roll of her eyes.
"Hahahaha..." He laughed.
A silence fell between the two as they floated within a separate domain of Devouring Chaos’s domain.
"You think Aunt Devouring will ever get to initiating that creation?" Shaia asked, arms circling Dante’s chest.
"Mother has probably forgotten she had planned such a thing, heh." He laughed.
"Like mother, like son, humph."
"Oh? I don’t recall ever forgetting anything recently. My memory is quite impeccable."
"You don’t remember it being our first centennial together?"
"Time means nothing for beings like us, Shaia."
"Urghh... in my father’s name, you’re just like your mo... mmph." Shaia began, only for her lips to get sealed by Dante’s as the two shared a moment of quiet intimacy.
"I never said this before, but thank you for the name," Dante began as they separated. "I love it. Just like I do you." An ethereal smile graced his features.
"Humph. It’s good that you know what’s good for you." Shaia huffed before, "I love you, too, you big dummy." She grinned.
The two approached each other slowly as they were about to lose themselves in each other once more, but...
HUUUUUMMMMMM!!!!!!
The sudden trembling of Devouring Chaos’s domain shut them down as they both stood up, Dante’s face turning cold.
"Mother... she’s under attack!"

A/N: Hmmm... Devouring chaos, under attack. Seems those bastards have made their move. Things are about to heat up, but as always...
