THUD! THUD! THUD!
In the mountain forest, a series of muffled thuds echoed. In a clearing, two Gold Level Death Warriors were being besieged by four people. The four transitioned between offense and defense with perfect coordination. Even the two Gold Level Death Warriors were thrown into a frenzy, soon finding themselves on the losing end. From the looks of it, their demise was only a matter of time.
These four were disciples of the Qi Refining Sect, and they had been traveling through this mountain forest for over half a month. During this time, Shen Haoran had been continuously training their coordination and teamwork.
Shen Haoran knew it was impossible for the four of them to experience a massive surge in strength in just one month, not unless he could produce another four Elixirs Refined into Pill Clouds. But Elixirs of that Level were incredibly rare and couldn’t be sought out on a whim. Even Shen Haoran wasn’t confident he could refine another one. Therefore, rather than focusing on their individual strength, it was better to help them improve their teamwork.
In the clearing, the four quickly wore down the two Gold Level Death Warriors and finished them off with ease.
After slaying the two Gold Level Death Warriors, they picked up the Golden Death Warrior Medals from the ground and excitedly handed them to Shen Haoran.
Looking at the four, who were only slightly exhausted, Shen Haoran nodded in satisfaction. With their current coordination and teamwork, they were more than capable of protecting themselves in the Secret Realm—provided, of course, they didn’t provoke any unbeatable foes.
"Zuo Jian and Sun Ning absorbed the Energy from the last two Golden Death Warrior Medals. This time, these two are for Chen Feng and Lu Jian," Shen Haoran said, casually tossing the two Gold Level Death Warrior Medals to them.
Receiving the Golden Death Warrior Medals, both of them beamed with joy. The Energy contained within the medals might be negligible to Shen Haoran, but for them, it was far more precious. Without any pretense, they immediately sat down cross-legged and began to absorb it.
Seeing the two begin to absorb the Energy from the Golden Death Warrior Medals, Shen Haoran turned his attention away and gazed into the distance. They had been heading deeper into the Secret Realm for over half a month, but they hadn’t seen a single soul, let alone the ruins of the Saint Emperor Sect. ’Logically, with so many talented disciples entering the Secret Realm, it should be impossible not to see anyone for this long, no matter how large it is.’
"Do you guys feel it? Something seems off about this Secret Realm, like something has been added," Shen Haoran said, his brow furrowed. A deeply unsettling feeling coiled in his heart.
"Huh? Added something?" Hearing this, Ling Feng and Xu Hao were puzzled. They closed their eyes to concentrate but couldn’t sense anything out of the ordinary.
"Maybe I’m just overthinking it." Seeing the bewildered expressions on Xu Hao and Ling Feng’s faces, Shen Haoran couldn’t help but give a wry smile. ’Ever since Ni Jianshuang told me there were unclean things in this Secret Realm, my nerves have been on high alert. It’s probably just my imagination.’
"Hm?" But just as Shen Haoran suppressed his doubts, he sensed two strange auras. His eyes narrowed, and his figure vanished in an instant.
Seeing Shen Haoran disappear, Xu Hao and Ling Feng immediately went on alert. A moment later, two figures fell from the sky, looking as though they had been thrown down.
THUD... THUD...
Two Martial Artists slammed down from the sky, landing face-first in the dirt. After they hit the ground, Shen Haoran’s figure reappeared.
"You little punk! How dare you disrespect me! Believe it or not, I’ll..." one of the Martial Artists cursed as he scrambled up from the ground. But when he saw Shen Haoran and the other four surrounding him, the rest of his curses died in his throat. This was no joke. The aura radiating from every single one of these five was far stronger than his own. How could he dare to speak another word?
"Speak. Why were you spying on us?" Shen Haoran asked, staring coldly at the two Martial Artists.
At Shen Haoran’s question, the Martial Artist’s expression turned ugly. He stammered, "We weren’t spying! We were just passing by, and then you grabbed us." As he spoke, both men looked at Shen Haoran in terror. ’Just now, all we saw was a blur, and then we were kicked into the air before falling down here. This guy’s speed is insane!’
Hearing their words, Shen Haoran’s eyes narrowed. A Sword Light suddenly flared and shot toward the two men in an instant.
SHRRRIP...
With a soft tear, the Sword Light sliced across their arms, instantly shredding their sleeves. The sharp Sword Qi also left a Sword Mark on each of their arms, and blood spurted out immediately.
"I’m giving you one last chance. If you don’t tell the truth, the next thing I tear won’t be your sleeves—it’ll be your heads," Shen Haoran said coldly, his chilling killing intent enveloping the two.
Feeling the searing pain in their arms and Shen Haoran’s tangible killing intent, the two had no doubt that if they told another lie, the young man before them would cleave them in two.
"Okay, okay! We’ll talk, we’ll talk!" Under Shen Haoran’s threat, the two finally gave in.
"A month ago, the ruins of the Saint Emperor Sect were suddenly exposed ahead of schedule. So, about half a month ago, the talented disciples from all the Sects who entered the Secret Realm gathered together, looking for a way to enter the Saint Emperor Sect early. But while everyone was gathered and discussing their plans, something strange started happening. Every night, a few disciples would die mysteriously. At first, no one paid much mind, thinking it was just fights breaking out due to friction between Sects. After all, things like that are common. But when it happened for ten days straight, with more and more disciples dying, it started to get weird. And the state of the dead was horrifying—their Essence Blood was completely drained, and their bodies were reduced to dried-up corpses!
Because of this, the disciples from all the Sects grew vigilant. They realized this wasn’t the work of anyone present. They were being attacked by something that was treating the disciples as food! So, under the leadership of the Northern Domain’s Four Heroes, the disciples from the various Sects banded together. They posted sentries day and night and patrolled the surrounding area to prevent the monster from killing again. This proved to be quite effective, and the monster didn’t show up for several days.
But recently, the monster went crazy for some reason and started attacking in broad daylight, right under everyone’s noses. But because it’s so fast, all anyone can ever see is a figure in a black robe. Just like... just like you!"
At this, the two Martial Artists stared at Shen Haoran, their eyes filled with terror. ’Yes, the young man in front of us seems exactly like that monster—the ghostly speed, the terrifying strength, the wide black robe, and even the identical build...’ The thought sent a cold sweat breaking out across their bodies, instantly drenching their clothes...
