Chaos Heaven-Dominating Technique
Chapter 487 - 485: Withered Bones in the Grand Hall"Why is there nothing in this great hall? Where’s the Saint Emperor Sect’s inheritance?"
"You can’t be serious. We went through hell and back to get here, nearly losing our lives. Is this some kind of joke?"
Gazing at the empty hall, the Martial Artists’ expressions darkened. They cursed under their breath, their complaints growing louder. Their journey had been fraught with peril—breaking through Arrays, killing Death Warriors, and fending off ambushes from hidden monsters. It felt as if they had endured an epic ordeal to reach this place. But where was the promised inheritance of the Saint Emperor Sect? The entire hall was empty save for some useless Stone Pillars. For a moment, the vast space filled with the sound of bitter grievances.
Listening to the noise, Shen Haoran shot a cool glance at the Martial Artists, who were complaining like bitter shrews. He then turned his attention back to the Stone Pillars lining both sides of the hall. He had noticed something interesting on them.
Nearly every Stone Pillar was covered in vivid carvings. Some depicted human Martial Artists, others unknown monsters, and still others were ferocious-looking Spirit Beasts. The three factions seemed to be engaged in a war of epic proportions.
’Could the carvings on these Stone Pillars be depicting the great war from ten thousand years ago?’ A thought suddenly struck Shen Haoran as he studied the pillars, his curiosity piqued.
Shen Haoran continued to examine the carvings. On one pillar, the human Martial Artists were gradually gaining the upper hand in the three-way battle. But their good fortune was short-lived. The unknown monsters and the savage Spirit Beasts joined forces and ambushed the humans. The scales of victory tipped in an instant, and the human Martial Artists were pushed to the brink of annihilation.
In a desperate bid for survival, hundreds of human Sects united to resist the monsters and Spirit Beasts. A war of epic proportions unfolded on a vast plain. The strongest human experts mobilized in full force, and for a time, they actually held the advantage. But just as victory seemed within their grasp, a sudden twist occurred—another power had joined the fray!
’This power...’ Shen Haoran stared at the Stone Pillar before him. On it, two forces stood in a standoff. It was clear that the human Martial Artists were far greater in number, yet their faces were filled with terror. Even the most powerful experts among them were no exception.
Shen Haoran wondered what could possibly frighten this group so terribly. He turned his gaze to the opposing force. On the Stone Pillar, however, only the feet of this other power remained carved. The entire upper half of the depiction had been destroyed. Shen Haoran had no way of knowing what the human Martial Artists were facing.
’Huh? It’s gone?’ He looked further down, only to find the carvings came to an abrupt end. The outcome of the great war and the identity of that final power were nowhere to be seen.
’What exactly happened back then?’ Shen Haoran frowned, his gaze fixed on the half-destroyed carving on the Stone Pillar.
"Look! What’s that?" Just as Shen Haoran was lost in thought, a few shouts from ahead shattered his concentration.
Hearing this, Shen Haoran looked up toward the front of the hall. The sight that greeted him made him freeze.
In the center of the great hall, a massive, mountain-like throne stood before them. And sitting upon that throne was a skeleton, long since decayed.
Seeing this, Shen Haoran’s pupils constricted. ’This scene... why is it so familiar? Isn’t it just like the great hall in the Five Elements Sect’s Secret Realm? The throne, the high platform... the only difference is that this throne has a skeleton on it.’
"Could that be the master of the Saint Emperor Sect?" a Martial Artist whispered, staring at the decayed skeleton. Soon, they all began to swarm the throne, searching for the Saint Emperor Sect’s inheritance. But after circling the throne several times, they found nothing.
"Impossible. How can there be nothing?" After several fruitless searches, the crowd’s brows furrowed in frustration. ’Logically, the Saint Emperor Sect was a dominant power during the Ancient Era. How could they have left nothing behind?’
"Maybe it’s on the throne itself!" a disciple said in a low voice.
At his words, everyone’s gaze shifted to the throne, and sure enough, they spotted something strange.
"Look under the skeleton! Are those some Scrolls?" a sharp-eyed disciple exclaimed, pointing at the skeleton on the throne. The others followed his gaze and noticed the edge of a black Scroll peeking out from beneath the skeleton’s dark robes. It was something one could easily miss without looking closely.
"What are we waiting for? Get it! The Saint Emperor Sect’s inheritance is mine!" Upon seeing the Scrolls, some of the Martial Artists in the hall could no longer contain themselves. With a roar, they charged toward the throne.
Hearing the disciple’s cry, the surrounding Martial Artists lost all restraint, scrambling over each other to reach the throne. But the moment they set foot on the platform, a strange power erupted from the throne, instantly spreading throughout the entire hall.
’What’s going on?’ The instant that strange power erupted, Shen Haoran tensed up, his guard raised. Ever since entering this hall, everything had felt unusual. ’Something this strange has to be a trap.’ He didn’t dare to relax for even a second.
The Martial Artists charging the throne had already been blinded by the prospect of the Saint Emperor Sect’s inheritance. They failed to notice anything odd and continued rushing toward the skeleton with excitement plastered on their faces.
However, just as they reached the throne, disaster struck. Four blinding golden lights shot out from the skeleton’s body, instantly piercing through the bodies of the Martial Artists at the front before flying up toward the ceiling of the hall.
The sudden turn of events stunned everyone, leaving them momentarily speechless. But when they saw the four golden orbs of light, the fervor in their eyes reignited. They paid no mind to the disciples who had just been killed.
"The inheritance! The Saint Emperor Sect’s inheritance is in those orbs of light!" someone shouted. Immediately after, the Martial Artists began desperately leaping into the air, trying to grab the four orbs. The scene descended into utter chaos.
But the four orbs of light seemed to have minds of their own. They darted through the air like slippery eels, and no matter how hard the Martial Artists tried, none of them could even touch the orbs.
"Boss, should we give it a try?" Xu Hao asked, rubbing his hands together eagerly as he watched the frenzied Martial Artists.
"Let’s go. These are valuable treasures. Everyone, be careful!" Hearing Xu Hao, Shen Haoran chuckled, a flicker of excitement in his own eyes. ’The moment those golden orbs of light appeared, Changmao started cheering excitedly in my mind. If it caught Changmao’s eye, it must be extraordinary!’
Seeing Shen Haoran and his group make their move, Jian Wushuang, Xue Shitian, and their two companions didn’t hesitate either, immediately joining the scramble for the orbs of light. In an instant, the entire hall erupted with activity.
However, in their frenzied rush to snatch the orbs of light, no one noticed that the corpses lying before the throne were slowly shriveling up. Meanwhile, the skeleton sitting on the throne was gradually turning pitch-black, and the fingers of its right hand had begun to twitch faintly...
