Chaos Heaven-Dominating Technique

Chapter 490 - 488: The Vanished Withered Bones!

At the sight of this, Xue Shitian, Jian Wushuang, and Wuqing all fell silent. They, along with Ouyang Shaoyu, were known as the Northern Domain’s Four Heroes. For years, they had rarely met their match in the Northern Domain. The four of them were indeed powerful, each with their own trump cards. However, those cards were only useful if they could be played. Ouyang Shaoyu had been utterly powerless against Shen Haoran; he was crippled before he could even reveal his trump card. What good was it then? Without a doubt, Shen Haoran had now become a formidable rival in the minds of the other three.

However, after a brief moment of surprise, Jian Wushuang’s frown smoothed over. He was on good terms with Shen Haoran, and they could even be considered friends, so there was no rivalry between them. As for Xue Shitian and Wuqing, both had run-ins with Shen Haoran before. ’Now things are going to be difficult for them,’ he thought.

After a brief, indifferent glance at Ouyang Shaoyu, who was embedded in the earth, Shen Haoran shifted his gaze to the golden ball of light not far away.

As if it sensed his gaze, the golden orb of light showed no intention of fleeing this time. Instead, it drifted slowly toward Shen Haoran and came to rest in the palm of his hand.

’This is...’ Shen Haoran was stunned. ’What a drastic change in attitude from this golden orb. Could my recent fight have scared it?’ he wondered.

With the golden orb in his hand, Shen Haoran examined it carefully before clenching his fist. The surrounding Spiritual Power immediately crushed down on it. The next moment, the golden orb burst apart, dissolving into motes of golden light that dissipated around him.

As the golden light burst, Shen Haoran saw what was inside, and the sight made him freeze in place.

Lying in his palm was an ancient-looking Token. In its very center was a carved character: "Earth." An earthy yellow light enveloped the entire Token, and it emanated an incredibly dense aura that drew Shen Haoran’s full attention.

Staring at the familiar-looking Token in his hand, Shen Haoran was speechless with surprise. He was all too familiar with it. In his Sea of Consciousness, there was a Golden Token. In his Storage Ring, there was a broken and incomplete Fire Token. Elder Yan had once told him that these Tokens were connected to a great secret. He never imagined he would find another one here today—and a complete one at that.

The dense aura emanating from the Token drew the attention of every Martial Artist present. Their gazes burned with greed as they stared at the Token in Shen Haoran’s hand, looking as if they were about to try and snatch it.

Seeing this, Shen Haoran frowned, bit his finger, and dripped a drop of blood onto the Token. Once he bound it with his blood, the Token transformed into a streak of earthy yellow light that shot directly into his Sea of Consciousness. Instantly, it appeared on the Chaos Celestial Ladder, where it hovered beside the Golden Token, rotating slowly.

BOOM!

As the earthy yellow Token entered, a tempestuous wave surged within Shen Haoran’s Sea of Consciousness. Wisps of an earthy yellow aura coiled through it, bringing an indescribable sense of comfort that overjoyed him. A moment later, the churning Sea of Consciousness grew calm once more. Now, compared to its previous sharpness, it possessed an added quality of density and weight. Shen Haoran’s tightly shut eyes slowly opened, and two sharp glints of light flashed from them. He looked like a different person entirely.

Feeling the change in his Sea of Consciousness, Shen Haoran was ecstatic. ’I can’t believe this Token has such an effect! With my Sea of Consciousness enhanced by this earthy yellow Token, my Spiritual Thought can probably rival that of a Sixth Grade Alchemist!’

When the Martial Artists in the great hall saw Shen Haoran claim the earthy yellow Token, looks of jealousy crossed their faces. But the thought of his combat prowess made them suppress the urge to rob him. They had no choice but to turn their attention to the three remaining golden orbs.

Having obtained the earthy yellow Token, Shen Haoran no longer participated in the scramble. If he tried to take more, he would likely incur the wrath of the crowd. Surrounded by so many disciples, even he wasn’t confident he could survive.

Withdrawing from the fray, Shen Haoran scanned his surroundings. He could clearly sense the aura of the Earth Spirit Profound Nether here, yet he had seen no sign of it, which left him puzzled.

Shen Haoran’s gaze swept across the great hall, but when his eyes landed on the throne atop the stone platform, his pupils suddenly contracted. A chill ran up his spine, and cold sweat instantly beaded on his back. The next moment, his figure flickered, and he hurried to Murong Wanqing’s side.

"Brother Haoran, what’s wrong?" Murong Wanqing asked, puzzled by his grave expression.

In response, Shen Haoran pointed to the throne on the high platform and said in a low, serious voice, "Something’s wrong. Look."

Murong Wanqing followed his finger with her gaze. When she saw the scene on the throne, her entire body couldn’t help but tremble.

"The... the skeleton? It’s gone!" Murong Wanqing stammered. Just a moment ago, while they were fighting for the golden orbs, she had clearly seen it resting quietly on the throne. How could it have vanished in the blink of an eye? Not only that, but the bodies of the seven or eight Martial Artists who had collapsed on the throne were also missing. The entire scene was utterly bizarre!

"I don’t know what happened, but we need to be careful," Shen Haoran said, his brow deeply furrowed. A faint sense of danger rose in his heart, and the surrounding pitch-black space made him feel uneasy.

Meanwhile, the crowd in the great hall was still fiercely scrambling for the treasures. The three golden orbs were as nimble as rabbits; even Xue Shitian, Jian Wushuang, and Wuqing were having trouble with them. They could only work together to herd the three orbs into a corner of the hall, preparing to catch them all at once. No one had even noticed the missing skeleton.

Slowly, Xue Shitian, Jian Wushuang, and Wuqing managed to corner the three golden orbs. But just as they were about to grab them, the orbs suddenly erupted with a blinding light and shot away toward another part of the hall, moving so fast that Xue Shitian and the others couldn’t react in time.

"Stop them!" Xue Shitian roared as he watched the golden orbs flee. A disciple immediately darted out from the side, blocking the path of one of the orbs.

"Hmph. Let’s see you try to run now!" that disciple snorted, reaching out to grab the golden orb. But just then, the unexpected happened. As the orb reached the disciple, it exploded. A longsword hidden within shot out, instantly piercing the disciple’s chest. The sword then carried the body with it as it flew toward another part of the hall. En route, the disciple’s body shriveled at a terrifying rate, turning into a desiccated corpse in the blink of an eye!

This bizarre scene left all the Martial Artists present stunned. For a moment, they were too terrified to speak. They stared blankly at the disciple who had become a dried corpse in an instant, a deep chill rising in their hearts.

"All who trespass in this hall shall be killed without mercy!"

Just as the crowd was gripped by terror, a hoarse voice echoed from within the great hall. It was an icy voice, as if from the depths of Hell itself, chilling everyone to the bone. The sound reverberated through the hall, lingering long after it was spoken...
