A deep Brahma Sound echoed endlessly in Shen Haoran’s mind. Large, golden characters shone with a dazzling light, and his entire Sea of Consciousness began to churn violently. He himself stood frozen in place, as if entranced.
Within his mind, Shen Haoran and Elder Yan stared intently at the large characters that were slowly materializing, their brows tightly furrowed. A moment later, the golden characters churned once more. Strands of golden thread descended from them, intertwining to form a massive and intricate array. In the end, the array completely enveloped Shen Haoran’s entire Sea of Consciousness. It was clearly a miniature version; ’I can’t imagine how huge this array would be if it were fully unleashed!’
Shen Haoran stared at the massive array, utterly shocked. He couldn’t comprehend it in the slightest. What’s more, there were no records of it anywhere in the Alchemy Inheritance’s Array Dao—not even a name, let alone a description of its effects.
"What in the world is this...?" Shen Haoran murmured, dazed. After the golden array appeared, no explanation followed. He could only sense something unusual emanating from it, along with a faint, familiar aura.
"I don’t know," Elder Yan said in a deep voice. "Judging by its complexity, it’s definitely not simple. It must be related to the myriad-year calamity!" ’He knew far more about the myriad-year calamity than Shen Haoran did, but now was not the time to reveal it. Although Shen Haoran had begun to mature and was gradually spreading his wings, his strength was still too weak. The more he knew, the more danger he would be in. Until Shen Haoran truly grew into a powerhouse, this matter had to be kept from him.’
"The myriad-year calamity?" Shen Haoran murmured, his brows knitting together. ’What does this myriad-year calamity have to do with me?’
’Is it because of my Chaos Divine Body?’ Shen Haoran looked down at himself, his brows furrowing once more. He didn’t feel particularly proud of possessing the Chaos Divine Body. To him, this constitution was merely a shortcut to becoming stronger. As for the responsibilities that came with being its inheritor, he preferred not to dwell on them.
Shen Haoran admitted to himself that he was no Saint, nor was he some selfless altruist. In fact, he was quite the opposite—a selfish person. The fate of the world’s inhabitants was none of his concern, and he had no desire to do anything on their behalf. All he wanted was to reunite with his family and protect the people he loved from harm. That was all.
However, a moment later, Shen Haoran’s gaze turned sharp. If this so-called myriad-year calamity threatened his family and the people he cared about, then he would crush it, with or without the Chaos Divine Body. In Shen Haoran’s heart, his family was his reversed scale. Anyone who dared to harm them—even a god—he would slaughter without hesitation!
BOOM!
While Shen Haoran was lost in thought, another roar echoed through his Sea of Consciousness. The golden characters and the intricate grand array slowly faded away, concealing themselves deep within his mind.
After the golden characters dissipated, Shen Haoran returned to his senses and slowly opened his eyes. Just as he did, two hours were up, and the room he was in began to collapse.
At that moment, the space before Shen Haoran distorted, and Wan Fa Ancestor reappeared. Without a word, he grabbed Shen Haoran and left the Sixth Floor of the Ten Thousand Treasures Pavilion.
When Shen Haoran came to his senses, he was once again standing at the foot of the Ten Thousand Treasures Pavilion. He looked up. The Sixth Floor was still there, looking completely unchanged.
"The room you were in was actually a small, separate dimension. What collapsed was just that dimension," Wan Fa Ancestor explained. He then looked down at Shen Haoran and asked, "Did you get what you came for?"
Shen Haoran nodded. The golden characters and the array were now hidden within his Sea of Consciousness, and he could access them whenever he wished.
"Ancestor, I’m curious, why is there information about the Chaos Divine Body here?" Shen Haoran asked. He figured the one who left the message about the myriad-year calamity must have been a previous inheritor. ’So why would it appear here, in the Northern Domain?’
"This Ten Thousand Treasures Pavilion was supposedly founded during the Ancient Era by Senior Ni Jianshuang, the Sect Leader of the Ten Thousand Swords Sect," Wan Fa Ancestor said softly. "As for why there’s information about the Chaos Divine Body here... it’s likely due to a favorable connection she made back then."
Shen Haoran’s confusion cleared at Wan Fa Ancestor’s words. He had met Ni Jianshuang before; she had even claimed to be the wife of a Chaos Divine Body inheritor. ’So that’s how it is,’ he thought. ’That generation’s inheritor must have passed this message on through her.’
"Alright. Since you’ve obtained what you came for, my task is complete," Wan Fa Ancestor said, sighing in relief. He had guarded the Ten Thousand Treasures Pavilion for countless years, just waiting for an inheritor of the Chaos Divine Body to appear. He had begun to think he might never complete his task in this lifetime, but thankfully, his long wait was finally over. "You may now enter the Ten Thousand Treasures Pavilion and choose any single item. Consider it a gift of goodwill from me!"
"Then I thank you, Ancestor!" Shen Haoran said, his face lighting up with joy as he cupped his fists.
With that, Shen Haoran entered the Ten Thousand Treasures Pavilion once more and began to browse. The pavilion truly lived up to its reputation of housing the Northern Domain’s greatest treasures. He spotted Top Grade Spiritual Artifacts on just the third floor, to say nothing of the fourth and fifth floors above.
Gazing at the dazzling array of treasures, Shen Haoran was momentarily at a loss. ’What should I choose?’ he wondered. ’As for Spiritual Artifacts, I already have the Soul-devouring Sword, which is Divine Artifact Level—countless grades higher than anything here. As for Cultivation and Martial Skills? I have the inheritance of the Ten Thousand Swords Sect, so I don’t need any new Martial Skills right now. And for a Cultivation Technique... what could possibly compare to the Chaos Heaven-Dominating Technique?’
After much deliberation, Shen Haoran eventually made his way to the Pill Area. Although his Spiritual Thought had reached the strength of a Sixth Grade Alchemist, he had never actually refined a Sixth Grade Elixir. And yet, the Pill Area on the fourth floor was filled with them.
"Hmm, a Transformation Pill!" As Shen Haoran browsed, the label on a Jade Bottle caught his eye. ’Isn’t this exactly what Xue Ling needs?’ He immediately picked it up. ’Xue Ling harbors killing intent toward me right now. She’s a ticking time bomb, and who knows when she’ll go off. It’s best to give her this Transformation Pill quickly and send her on her way. That will guarantee my own safety.’
With that thought, Shen Haoran no longer hesitated. He took the Transformation Pill and walked straight out...
