Chaos Heaven-Dominating Technique

Chapter 609 - 604: Medicine Hall Headquarters

Inside a huge mansion in Southern Central City, Feng Miaoke sat below the main seat in the conference room, a wronged expression on her face. She was recounting the day’s events to the middle-aged man at the head of the table. This man was her father, Feng Qingwu, Clan Leader of the Vermilion Bird Race, one of the Four Great Divine Beast Families.

"You’re saying that boy has the Vermilion Bird Bloodline, and it’s even more potent than yours?" Feng Qingwu’s brows furrowed as he stared intently at Feng Miaoke below.

"That’s right. His Vermilion Bird Bloodline made my heart tremble. I’ve only ever felt that when facing the Vermilion Bird Divine Statue!" Feng Miaoke said in a heavy voice, her delicate brows furrowed.

Upon hearing this, everyone in the hall lowered their heads. It was just as Shen Haoran had said: the current Vermilion Bird Race was merely the Blood Phoenix Race, with only a trace of the Vermilion Bird Bloodline remaining in their bodies. They were indeed a world away from the true Vermilion Birds. As time passed, the concentration of the Vermilion Bird Bloodline within the Blood Phoenix Race had grown increasingly dilute. They had finally, with great difficulty, produced a Feng Miaoke with a Ninth Grade bloodline, only to have her be suppressed by a mere boy from the Human Race.

In a hereditary clan like this, the potency of one’s bloodline was paramount. Bloodline potency was divided into ten grades. First Grade was the lowest, and Tenth Grade was the highest. A First Grade bloodline was equivalent to having no inherited bloodline at all, making one no different from an ordinary person. A Tenth Grade bloodline, on the other hand, signified a true inheritor, like the Tenth Grade Nine-tailed White Fox Bloodline within Lady Ya. However, a Tenth Grade had never appeared among these clans. Feng Miaoke’s Ninth Grade bloodline was already considered the Vermilion Bird Race’s greatest asset.

"If we seize the bloodline from that boy’s body, we might be able to help Miaoke break through her own limits and achieve a perfect, Tenth Grade bloodline. Then she could receive the Vermilion Bird’s inheritance!" After a long silence in the hall, an Elder of the Vermilion Bird Race spoke in a heavy voice.

"Exactly. That boy offended our Vermilion Bird Race and must pay the price. Stripping him of his Vermilion Bird Bloodline will be a good lesson for him. I’ve already investigated him—he’s just an Alchemist with no background. Who knows what kind of dumb luck he stumbled into to get that bloodline!" another elder chimed in.

Hearing the elder’s words, a peculiar glint flashed in Feng Miaoke’s eyes. ’My own bloodline purity has already reached the Ninth Grade. The fact that Shen Haoran’s bloodline can suppress mine means it’s very likely the true Vermilion Bird Bloodline! If I could really strip his bloodline and add it to my own, I might actually be able to break through that barrier and achieve the perfect Tenth Grade bloodline!’ At this thought, a look of excitement spread across her face.

Hearing the two elders below, Feng Qingwu, seated in the main chair, felt his heart stir. A thoughtful expression appeared on his face, but it quickly darkened. "What you’re suggesting is tempting, but we can’t act now," he said. "Ke’Er mentioned that boy is participating in the Pill Emperor competition. If we were to seize him, we would risk displeasing the Medicine Hall. While our Vermilion Bird Race does not fear the Medicine Hall, it would be prudent to wait until the competition is over."

"Don’t worry, Father. There’s no way that boy will pass the first round. He’s only a Fourth Grade Alchemist. In this Pill Emperor competition, I’ll make sure he sees what I’m made of!" Feng Miaoke stood up and patted her chest confidently. She was also a contestant in the competition—a seeded one, no less. In her eyes, Shen Haoran posed no threat whatsoever.

"A Fourth Grade Alchemist? He dares participate in the Pill Emperor competition as a mere Fourth Grade Alchemist? The sheer nerve! Grand Elder, you will keep an eye on that boy. The moment he is eliminated, capture him and bring him back here. I want to see for myself just how arrogant this boy who called my Vermilion Bird Race worthless truly is!" Feng Qingwu snorted from his seat at the head of the table.

"Yes, sir!" the elder who made the initial proposal responded in a deep voice. In a flash, he vanished from the hall.

’Hmph. Shen Haoran, is it? This is the price you pay for offending me!’ Seeing the Grand Elder disappear, Feng Miaoke’s lips curled into a cold sneer.

Meanwhile, in an alley in eastern Central City, Shen Haoran awoke from his Cultivation. It had been four days since he arrived in Central City, and the Pill Emperor competition was set to begin the next day. Shen Haoran had pushed himself hard during these four days and could now faintly touch the barrier to becoming a Seventh Grade Alchemist. Although he was still a ways off from actually breaking through, it was an excellent sign.

"Young Friend Shen, the Pill Emperor competition begins tomorrow. We need to go to the Medicine Hall today and get your credentials!" Feng Li’s voice called from outside the door.

Hearing this, Shen Haoran stood up, pushed the door open, and walked out. According to Feng Li, the minimum qualification to participate in the Pill Emperor competition was to be a Fifth Grade Alchemist. Shen Haoran, however, only had a Fourth Grade Alchemist badge and still needed to go to the Medicine Hall to test for a Fifth Grade one.

"What a hassle," Shen Haoran said, rubbing his forehead.

"Can’t be helped. After all, this is the grandest Alchemy event in the Demon Race. Not just anyone can participate, right?" Feng Li chuckled.

"Then let’s go," Shen Haoran said, shaking his head. He was just grumbling. Testing for a Fifth Grade Alchemist badge required a trip to the Medicine Hall Headquarters, and Shen Haoran was curious to see what the Demon Race’s headquarters was really like.

Shen Haoran followed Feng Li to the Demon Race’s Medicine Hall Headquarters. When he saw it, he couldn’t help but freeze on the spot. This wasn’t a "Hall" at all; it was a Major Sect built right inside Central City! With mountain peaks soaring into the clouds, palaces nestled in the mist, and grounds that stretched as far as the eye could see, Shen Haoran wondered if he had come to the wrong place.

"The Medicine Hall needs to cultivate a vast amount of Spirit Medicine, so its founder moved two entire mountain peaks here and inscribed a Spirit Gathering Array. That’s why it looks just like a Sect," Feng Li explained to Shen Haoran, gazing at the headquarters with a proud expression.

"Moved two mountain peaks!" Hearing Feng Li’s words, the corner of Shen Haoran’s mouth twitched. ’The founder of this Medicine Hall was truly domineering, moving two mountains on a whim. What an incredible display of power.’

"Tch. A bunch of country bumpkins who’ve never seen the world." Just then, a grating voice sounded nearby, instantly souring Shen Haoran’s mood. He turned to look and saw two familiar figures walking toward him and Feng Li. It was Yin Chuan and Yin Xueyu, the same two he had clashed with outside the Central City gates.
