Chasing His Ex: The Tycoon's Hidden Twins
Chapter 343 - 214: Major Breakthrough in the RelationshipChapter 343: Chapter 214: Major Breakthrough in the Relationship
After leaving the bumper car area, Jiang Sifan glanced at the haunted house in the distance and suddenly got an idea.
"Wen Wan, how about we go check out the haunted house?" he said, pointing in its direction.
Wen Wan followed his pointing finger, and the color instantly drained from her face.
She quickly shook her head, saying fearfully, "Class President, I... I’m too scared to go into a haunted house..."
Seeing how scared she looked, Jiang Sifan couldn’t help but laugh.
He remembered the last time he brought He Lingyi here. That girl had insisted she wasn’t afraid at first, but in the end, she was just like Wen Wan—scared out of her wits.
"We came all this way; it’d be a shame not to experience it," Jiang Sifan coaxed. "Don’t worry, I’m here."
Wen Wan looked up at him, her eyes filled with hesitation.
Her lips parted as if to say something, but she swallowed her words.
Jiang Sifan could see her internal struggle and added, "It’s okay. If you get scared, just hold on to me."
Wen Wan’s face flushed a faint pink at his words.
She lowered her head and fell silent for a few seconds before giving a small nod. "Then... okay, then."
And so, the two of them headed toward the haunted house.
The closer they got, the paler Wen Wan’s face became.
The entrance to the haunted house was adorned with all sorts of horrifying decorations—bloody palms, skulls—that were enough to make one’s skin crawl.
Bursts of screams echoed from inside, making your scalp tingle.
While they waited in line, Wen Wan kept her head bowed, not daring to look at any of it.
Her hands were clenched so tightly around the hem of her shirt that her knuckles were turning white.
Jiang Sifan noticed her anxiety and comforted her softly, "Don’t be scared. It’s all fake."
Wen Wan nodded, but the tension on her face didn’t ease in the slightest.
Her breathing grew shallow, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
Finally, it was their turn.
They pushed aside a black curtain and stepped into pitch darkness, where only a faint green light flickered intermittently.
Eerie music drifted from all directions, occasionally punctuated by shrill wails that echoed through the empty corridor.
The moment they were inside, Wen Wan couldn’t stop herself from inching closer to Jiang Sifan.
She walked practically pressed against his side, her hand gripping his sleeve tightly.
Jiang Sifan could feel her tension and offered a quiet reassurance, "Just follow me. Don’t be scared."
The two of them slowly shuffled forward.
Suddenly, a bloody hand shot out of a nearby coffin, lunging right for Wen Wan.
Wen Wan shrieked and threw herself directly into Jiang Sifan’s arms.
Her hands clutched his shirt, her face buried in his chest, her whole body trembling.
Her reaction startled Jiang Sifan for a moment, but he quickly composed himself.
He gently patted her back, explaining in a soothing voice, "It’s fake. It’s all fake, don’t be scared."
Wen Wan kept her face buried in his chest, not daring to look up.
Her body was trembling faintly, and she was practically hanging off of him.
As Jiang Sifan felt her soft form against him, a strange feeling stirred in his chest.
Her body was soft, and pressed against him, he could feel her warmth through his clothes.
Her hair brushed against his chin, tickling him and carrying a faint, sweet scent.
He recalled the time he’d come to the haunted house with He Lingyi. Although she had been scared too, it was clear that Lingyi’s tolerance for it was much better.
’But Wen Wan... she’s so reliant on me, so in need of my protection.’
’This feeling of being needed,’ Jiang Sifan suddenly thought, ’is actually pretty nice.’
He led Wen Wan onward.
All along the way, terrifying things popped out one after another. Ghostly figures would suddenly leap out, and shrill cries would abruptly ring out.
Wen Wan clung to him the entire time, not once daring to lift her head.
With his arm half-wrapped around her, Jiang Sifan slowly shuffled them forward.
He could feel her hands gripping his shirt so tightly that her nails were nearly digging into his skin.
But he didn’t say a word, just letting her hold on.
After walking for a little over ten minutes, they finally saw the light of the exit.
Wen Wan practically fled outside, standing in the sunlight and gasping for air.
Jiang Sifan followed her out and couldn’t help but laugh at her flustered state.
Wen Wan’s face was bright red. She lowered her head, not daring to meet his eyes. "Class President," she asked, "was I... was I really pathetic...?"
Jiang Sifan shook his head, comforting her with a smile. "Not at all. It’s normal for girls to be afraid of ghosts. You were holding on to me pretty tight back there, which just shows how much you trust me."
At that, Wen Wan’s face turned an even deeper shade of red.
She looked up at him, her eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Class President. If it weren’t for you, I never would have made it out."
Seeing her earnest expression, his heart suddenly warmed, and for a moment, he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
He chuckled. "Of course. It’s a guy’s responsibility to protect girls."
Hearing this, Wen Wan blushed and let out a shy little laugh.
Just as they were talking, a roaring sound suddenly thundered from overhead.
They looked up just in time to see a roller coaster train shoot past overhead, accompanied by a wave of screams.
Wen Wan looked at the towering tracks, and her face went pale all over again.
The track was high and steep, full of terrifying twists and turns.
Even Jiang Sifan felt a little daunted watching it, his own heart skipping a beat.
But then he remembered his own words—’We came all this way’—and he suddenly grinned.
"How about... we go give that a try?" he asked tentatively.
Wen Wan shook her head frantically, her voice cracking. "No, no way, Class President! Absolutely not! That’s too scary... Look how high it is..."
"We came all this way," Jiang Sifan said, using the same logic as before. "We made it through the haunted house, so what’s a roller coaster? Aren’t we here to experience everything?"
Hearing him put it that way, Wen Wan began to hesitate again.
She glanced at the towering tracks, then back at Jiang Sifan’s encouraging gaze, and bit her lip.
