Chillin' on an Uninhabited Island in Another World
Chapter 141: Tipsy LuminousThe variety of fish we’d caught was enormous, but for lunch, we kept it to salt-grilled ayu.
We still had plans after this, and the other fish could be eaten at dinner or later.
Afancs were dangerous, but everyone agreed that adding river fish to our food supply had been a good thing, and lunch passed by in a cheerful mood.
“Kuno! You are splendid! Splendid, splendid!”
The one saying that while patting my head was Ms. Luminous, her face flushed red.
A wine glass swayed in her other hand.
“Th-thank you.”
“I hear it was thanks to you that the other children noticed abilities were an option! Which means, in a roundabout way, you helped save me too!”
If anything, I felt like the credit should go to Shouko for picking up my comment and making the class notice.
Even so, most of the boys had already finished making their choices by then, so it apparently hadn’t reached them in time.
“Well, I suppose you could say that.”
“So admirable! It’s frightening to think what might have happened if you hadn’t noticed!”
Saying that, Ms. Luminous pulled me into her arms.
My childhood friend Chiyu boasted the largest chest in class.
But my face was swallowed by two huge, soft mounds that surpassed even hers.
I was enveloped by a blissful sensation and a meltingly sweet scent.
“There, there. Good boy, good boy.”
At that moment, aside from the sheer happiness, one worry crossed my mind.
Was Ms. Luminous the type who remembered what happened when she was drunk, or the type who didn’t?
Because if it was the former, this was going to hurt her later.
“...Chiyu.”
I meant to call my childhood friend’s name, but with my face buried against Ms. Luminous’s chest, I couldn’t pronounce it properly.
“Lumi gets proactive when she’s drunk, huh.”
“The usual Ms. Luminous would never do that to Sousuke. But as a party, it’s better if she gets closer to him...”
“Ugh... A teacher and a student, how indecent. B-but this is a deserted island in another world, so bringing up modern Japanese common sense here would be boorish, wouldn’t it...”
“Mm. If you say that, then So-kun’s harem wouldn’t be allowed either.”
Shouko, Shion, Minori, and Chiyu apparently had no intention of stopping Ms. Luminous.
“Borrowing the power of alcohol is not ideal, but the fact that Ms. Luminous has noticed Master’s charms is a good thing.”
“I do think Kuno is splendid, but is it really okay to leave this alone?”
“Hmm. We can’t use drunken momentum ourselves, after all. Wait. This is another world, right? Isn’t there a chance the laws are different? Lots of fantasy stories have super-young kids drinking, don’t they?”
“Eeh... Even Ms. Luminous... A-at this rate, I’ll fall behind... B-but...”
Roa, Yumekai, Urume, and Mamonaka all reacted in different ways.
But Yumekai’s thinking seemed close to mine.
Yes. I didn’t think leaving this alone was a good idea.
Eventually, around the time I was starting to suffocate against Ms. Luminous’s chest—
“Advanced Heal.”
Chiyu finally cast healing magic on Ms. Luminous.
“There, there, Kuno, you really are—huh?”
Ms. Luminous’s body seemed to lose its strength, so I gently pulled away.
“Luminuss, are you sober now?”
Chiyu asked with her usual expressionless face.
“~~~~! Wh-what have I done...!”
Ms. Luminous’s face turned bright red in a completely different way from before, and when she tried to prostrate herself on the ground, I somehow stopped her.
Apparently, she was the type who remembered.
“Ms. Luminous, I don’t mind.”
“That is not acceptable! Making inappropriate contact with a student is absolutely unforgivable behavior!”
“But Ms. Luminous, this is another world. They say when in Rome, do as the Romans do.”
“Ugh. Th-that is... I do think there is room for that perspective...”
“We all know you were a proper teacher at school. Showing a different side of yourself in a different world doesn’t make you a bad teacher.”
“...You’re right. Lowering my head here would only be self-satisfaction. I will make up for it through my work from now on!”
Resolve filled Ms. Luminous’s eyes.
“Then you won’t drink anymore?”
Chiyu asked quietly.
Ms. Luminous flinched.
“Th-that is... Well, yes, it certainly seems like I should refrain... doesn’t it...”
She was visibly devastated.
“Well, it’s not as if anyone was troubled by it, so isn’t it fine?”
“N-no. I caused you a great deal of trouble, Kuno...”
“Actually, Lumi, when you drink and get like that, has it been okay up until now?”
Shouko cut in.
True. With the gap between that and her usual self, plenty of men seemed likely to get the wrong idea.
“Hm? No, that has been fine. It only makes me unable to hide my true feelings. There have been times when I clearly turned down someone I had usually been rejecting softly, and the atmosphere froze.”
I see.
So rather than her caution loosening, it was her social filter loosening and her true feelings coming out more strongly.
...Which meant that apparently, Ms. Luminous really did think I was splendid.
“Well, we don’t intend to ban you from drinking.”
It didn’t feel bad to be praised by Ms. Luminous.
“Ugh... Even though I’m a teacher, you all saw such a pathetic side of me.”
“Drunk Lumi was cute.”
“Guh.”
Shouko followed up with another blow.
“Still, it is dangerous. If it had been any boy other than Sousuke, who knows what might have happened...”
Minori spoke with concern.
As someone who had once been targeted by two boys, Minori probably still felt uneasy about it.
“I-I will be careful...”
“Speaking of boys, aren’t we supposed to look for the remaining ones?”
At Yumekai’s words, Ms. Luminous snapped back to herself.
“That’s right! Everyone, may I ask for your cooperation?”
And so, we decided to spend the afternoon searching for the boys and aiming to make deals with them.
“Since Ms. Luminous will mediate the deals, let’s split into a search group and a stay-behind group.”
If all we had to do was search, we could make two exploration groups, but if something went wrong with the group Ms. Luminous wasn’t in, it would be a problem.
It would take a little more effort, but it would be better to meet the boys with Ms. Luminous along.
So the exploration group would be Mashiro, me, Chiyu, Shouko, Shion, Ms. Luminous, and Minori.
We had Mashiro’s sense of smell, Shouko as his summoner, me to take out various things on the spot, Shion to see through lies, Ms. Luminous as mediator, and Minori as fighting strength in case anything happened.
Chiyu would be helpful on this side too, but at first, I had intended to ask her to stay behind.
Since we had learned that her Strength Up worked on phantasmal beasts too, I had thought she could strengthen Micron and protect the base if anything happened.
Mamonaka could transform into phantasmal beasts too, after all.
But Chiyu said, “I’m going. You won’t regret it,” so she joined the exploration group.
That left Micron, Roa, Yumekai, Urume, and Mamonaka as the stay-behind group.
It would be safer if Chiyu stayed too, but with Yumekai’s barrier and Micron there, they should already be plenty strong in both defense and combat.
“Once this is done, the island will be unified.”
Chiyu said.
“Well, just having the transfer participants stop being a threat would be huge.”
Right now, it wasn’t only the event that made them enemies. The boys who had lost their composure had become a threat to the girls too.
I wanted them to regain some composure somehow and act calmly for the sake of their own Rights to Return.
The exploration group and stay-behind group split up there by the river.
Everyone in the exploration group climbed onto Mashiro’s back.
“All right, we’re heading out.”
