Chapter 270 Stay Away from SebastianChapter 270: Chapter 270 Stay Away from Sebastian
Tiffany’s POV
I hurried out of the infusion room, already halfway to the cafeteria in my head, when a familiar figure stopped me dead in the corridor.
I rubbed my eyes. Blinked. Rubbed them again. When I was sure I wasn’t hallucinating from lack of sleep, I called out, "Sebastian!"
He was near the hospital entrance, one arm wrapped around a pale, unsteady woman I recognized instantly. Abigail. My stomach turned. He froze when he saw me, brow creasing.
"Why are you here?"
"Funny, I was about to ask you the exact same thing." My eyes cut straight to Abigail, and I felt something hot and ugly flare up in my chest. My wolf bristled right along with me.
"Tiffany. It’s been a while," Abigail said, offering me a soft little smile.
This woman. The one who had almost become part of my family once. Now the sight of her made my skin crawl.
"It has," I said sweetly. "Genuine question, though. Didn’t you run off with my cousin Damien? How do you even have the nerve to show your face around here?"
Abigail’s expression went dark in an instant.
"Tiffany, watch your mouth," Sebastian snapped.
"Watch my mouth? For her?" I laughed, and it came out sharp. "What manners does a woman like her deserve?"
"Enough."
His growl rolled low through the corridor, and Abigail flinched. But I was way past being scared of my brother’s temper. I stepped right up to him, fury spilling over.
"You’re seriously still defending her? Your wife is sick. Your wife is in this hospital right now, and you’re standing here propping up the woman who stabbed you in the back. Do you have any conscience left at all?"
Sebastian went very still. "What did you just say?"
"I said Emilia is hospitalized. Do you need me to say it slower?"
"Where is she?"
Just like that, his arm dropped away from Abigail. His voice came out rough. "Take me to her."
"Oh, don’t bother." I crossed my arms. "Clearly this one needs you more. You stay here and play nurse. I’ll look after Emilia myself, thanks."
"Tiffany. Take me to her."
He didn’t raise his voice, but the weight behind it made both Abigail and me go quiet.
I jerked my thumb at Abigail. "And what about her, then?"
"Which floor is Emilia on?"
"Room 13. Infusion wing."
He turned to Abigail without so much as a second look. "Tiffany will drive you home." Then he was gone, striding down the corridor toward the infusion ward before I could get another word out.
"Hey! Wait—why do I have to drive her anywhere? I don’t want to!" I shouted after him, but he was already too far to care.
I glared at the ghost-pale woman still standing there. I stamped my foot. "Well? What are you waiting for? Move."
Abigail climbed into my car in silence.
Once we were on the road, I asked flatly, "Address?"
"123 Violet Garden Road."
She said it in this thin, wounded little voice, staring out the window like Sebastian walking away had physically cut her open. Good. I hoped it stung.
I wanted her out of my sight as fast as humanly possible, so I put my foot down. The drive should have taken half an hour. I made it in fourteen minutes flat.
"We’re here. Out."
Abigail had gone green from the speed. She barely got the door open before she was retching onto the curb.
I almost peeled out right then. But something nagged at me. I killed the engine, got out, and gave her shoulder a hard tap.
"Hey. You never answered me. Why are you back?"
She straightened slowly and shot me a sideways look. "I have my reasons. I don’t owe you an explanation."
"Please. Like I care about your reasons." I leaned in, dropping any pretense of politeness. "The only thing keeping me from driving off is Emilia. So hear me clearly. Whatever you came back for, don’t you dare come near my brother’s marriage. Sebastian is never leaving his wife for someone like you. Emilia is worth a hundred of you. A thousand."
Abigail bit her lip and fixed those sharp eyes on me. "When did you start hating me this much, Tiffany? You used to adore me."
"Yeah. Past tense." My voice went cold. "I liked you because I didn’t know what you really were. Now I do. The day you betrayed him, you became my enemy. So from now on, when you see me coming, walk the other way. If you won’t, I will."
A sad smile tugged at her mouth. "You really have no idea what actually happened, do you?"
"I don’t need to. I know you’re a liar. I know you broke him. That’s plenty." I climbed back into the car and rolled down the window. "Just remember what I told you. If you try to ruin this happy marriage, you’ll regret it."
I hit the gas and left her standing there in a cloud of exhaust.
