Chapter 74: Chapter 74 74

Lena’s POV

During the meeting, Grant lounged in his chair like he owned the air in the room, head down, scrolling on his phone without even trying to pretend he cared.

Up close, he looked younger than she’d expected.

After the supervisor finished the report, he turned to Lena for her input. She rose to her feet and calmly laid out her analysis, broke down the proposal structure, and gave her recommendations one by one.

She knew her job inside out. That much was obvious. She wasn’t trying to show off or win anybody over, but she’d learned that lesson a long time ago: as an Omega, the fastest way to earn respect was to make people forget what you were.

She noticed Grant’s eyes land on her. It was the first time since she arrived that he’d actually looked at her for real. He lifted his phone, snapped a picture of her, then looked away like it was nothing.

When she finished and sat back down, she saw him staring at his screen with a strange little smile that sent a chill crawling over her skin.

She frowned, but didn’t think too much of it.

After the meeting, Grant strolled over to her desk and leaned against it. "Come to dinner with us. My treat tonight."

She looked up, a little surprised.

"Not just you," he added. "The whole team. A welcome dinner."

"Okay," she said.

After work, everyone packed up and thanked Grant with obvious enthusiasm. He flicked a hand like it was no big deal, but it was pretty clear he was eating up the attention.

He shot Lena a glance. "Hurry up."

She grabbed her bag and followed him out. In the elevator, everyone chatted easily, pulling her into the conversation too. When they reached the car, Grant said, "Ride with me."

She got into the back seat. They arrived at a private club with valet service and big gold-trimmed doors.

“If it weren’t for Grant, I swear I’d never set foot in a place like this in my life,” someone muttered under his breath.

“You should be thanking Lena,” another guy said with a grin. “We only got in tonight because of her.”

Something about the whole vibe felt off. She couldn’t quite name it, but it was there, crawling under her skin.

“Isn’t this a little too much?” Lena asked Grant, her brows tightening.

“I was kind of rude yesterday. Think of this as an apology.” He gave a lazy shrug. “Come on in.”

They walked through a glass corridor, so well soundproofed it felt weirdly dead, like the world had been muted. Grant led her around a few turns, then pushed open a frosted glass door.

He glanced back at her once before stepping inside and leaving the door open behind him. Lena followed. The second she entered, the door clicked shut at her back.

None of her coworkers were there. Every face in the room was unfamiliar.

And every single one of them was male.

Some lounged in leather chairs. Others leaned against the bar, drinks in hand, all relaxed and casual on the surface, but their eyes were anything but. They looked at her the way predators sized up prey.

They were all young, probably heirs from a dozen or so mid-tier packs, boys raised from childhood to believe the world owed them obedience just because of their rank.

And she was only an Omega wolf who had walked straight into their den.

“Grant.” Lena spun around immediately, her voice sharpening. “Did we come into the wrong room?”

He smiled, calm as ever. “Nope. My friends haven’t seen a pretty girl in a while. They wanted to meet you.”

Her stomach dropped hard.

“She’s even prettier in person,” someone behind her said. “Way better than the photo.”

Photo.

Grant had taken her picture, lured her here, and sent it around to these men.

“I’m from the Bloodmoon Pack,” Lena said, staring straight at Grant, each word cold and deliberate. “Do you really think this is a good idea?”

“Oh yeah? Bloodmoon does have a reputation for gorgeous Omegas.” One of the men flashed a grin and swirled the liquor in his glass. “We’re bored to death with the girls around here. Grant’s always the one bringing us something new.”

Grant looked her over with that detached, almost mocking amusement in his eyes. “Relax. They just want to get to know you.”

“I’ll pass.” She turned and grabbed the door handle.

The door was locked. Lena swallowed hard on instinct, her throat suddenly dry.

"You’re already here, so have a drink." One of the men got to his feet and reached for her wrist.

She yanked herself free so fast it almost threw her off balance. A burst of laughter rippled through the room.

"Got a temper, huh?" His grin faded. His face turned cold, and he lunged at her again.

She dodged sideways. "Grant!"

He sat in his chair with his arms folded over his chest, not moving an inch. The others had already spread out into a loose circle, casually blocking every way out, turning her panic into some sick little game.

An Omega being chased by a pack of males.

To them, it was straight-up entertainment.

Lena snatched a bottle from the nearest table, spun around, and slammed it into the head of the man chasing her. Glass exploded with a sharp crack. The laughter died on the spot.

"What the hell? Fuck!" He clutched his forehead as blood streamed through his fingers.

She stood in the middle of the room, breathing hard, gripping the broken neck of the bottle so tightly her knuckles turned white, the jagged edge pointed outward.

Her eyes swept over every face there. The teasing amusement was gone now. In its place was something worse—raw hunger, the thrill of being challenged.

"Grant." She didn’t even look at the others. "You have a girlfriend. Would you want her in a room like this? Locked in here with your friends?"

His jaw tightened.

"I trusted you. I got in your car because I thought you were a decent man." Her voice cut through the room. It trembled a little, but it held. "If anything happens to me tonight, you’re going to answer for it."

Grant’s body went stiff, but he still didn’t move. For them, this was probably nothing new.

Find a pretty Omega. Lure her in. Do whatever they wanted. Throw money at the mess afterward and call it a day.

In their world, an Omega without pack protection was just entertainment with a price tag. And a beautiful Omega from another pack, alone, without a male by her side? That was basically prey delivered to their door.

"I’ll show you what happens when prey fights back." Lena pointed the broken bottle at the bloodied man stumbling toward her. "This goes through your throat, and that’ll count as self-defense."

That made him stop for a second, but the others were still closing in.

Then a phone started ringing.

One of the men near the door picked it up. He listened for a moment, and all the color drained from his face. Then he whipped his head around and stared at her.

"Stop!" His voice came out rough and torn. "Everybody stop. Don’t touch her!!!"

The whole room went dead quiet.

He lowered the phone with stiff fingers, eyes wide as he stared at Lena like he’d just seen a ghost. "She really is Dominic Voss’s woman—the Bloodmoon Pack Alpha’s partner!!"

That name hit the room like a bomb.

Every single person there knew who Dominic Voss was. And every one of them knew exactly what would happen if he found out they had laid a hand on his partner. Not just them. Their packs, their families, everything tied to their names—none of it would survive untouched.

Lena hadn’t expected to hear Dominic’s name come out of these people’s mouths.

"Who the hell is Dominic Voss?" one clueless man asked, still not getting it.

The man who had taken the call turned and stared at him like he’d just asked what the moon was.

"You don’t need to know who he is," he said sharply. "You just need to know this—if you get on his bad side, he will ruin everything. Your pack, your family’s business, all of it. He’s done it before."

"You’re being dramatic."

"I’m not!" the man snapped, face tense. "A few years ago, somebody messed with someone close to him. Dominic didn’t even show up himself. He just made a few calls. In less than a month, that whole pack fell apart. Their leader begged for a chance to meet him and never even got that."

Silence dropped over the room again.

Lena slowly let out a breath.

Just a second ago, these men had acted fearless in their own territory, like they could do whatever they wanted. And now? Now they were scared of Dominic.

"You’re all wrong."

Another voice sliced through the silence.

A man near the bar set down his glass and looked at Lena coldly, calculation flashing in his eyes.

"Dominic Voss doesn’t have a partner. Look at her neck. She’s not marked."
