When they just got back, Ye Qiu and Miranda noticed something was off with Xia Jing, but what exactly was it, Ye Qiu couldn’t be sure.
Until lunch time, when Ye Qiu called Xia Jing, she came out of her room looking perfectly normal.
"What are you looking at?" Xia Jing asked Ye Qiu.
"Hmm, I think I smelled something strange earlier."
"You!" Xia Jing blushed like a young girl.
As they came down from the hotel, Ye Qiu drove them to Chinatown again.
He wasn’t used to Western food, so they headed to Chinatown for some Chinese food.
Of course, French cuisine is nice too, but the good stuff is just too expensive.
So, it’s better to head to Chinatown.
Chinatown has all eight great cuisines and some local dishes too.
And the taste isn’t much different from back home.
When they arrived near Chinatown, Ye Qiu parked the car, and they headed inside.
"What do you guys want to eat?"
"Qiu, I’ll listen to you."
"What did you say?" Xia Jing heard Ye Qiu speaking Spanish, and she couldn’t understand a thing.
Xia Jing thought that after returning home this time, she definitely needed to take time to learn the language; she felt really uncomfortable not knowing what Ye Qiu and Miranda were saying in front of her.
Xia Jing was a very competitive woman; how could she lose to others?
"I asked what you guys want to eat?"
"Whatever you say," Xia Jing replied.
Now they’ve had seafood feasts, hot pot, and sampled various stir-fried dishes.
"Let’s have some Cantonese food then."
The three of them headed to a Cantonese restaurant.
Looking at this Cantonese restaurant, which has over a hundred years of history, it must have been opened by early immigrants.
It’s lunchtime now, and as they went upstairs, they found the place quite packed.
There were white people, black people, and of course, mostly Chinese expatriates, and tourists from back home.
The three of them sat down, and the waitress brought the menu. Ye Qiu ordered nine dishes and a nourishing soup.
After the waitress left, they sat by the window, looking at the scenery outside, which was really good.
"In the afternoon, I want to check out Wall Street. Do you want to go?" Miranda was definitely going, but Ye Qiu wasn’t sure about Xia Jing, so he asked.
Wall Street?
"What are we doing there?"
"Wall Street is the financial center of America and the world. A slight movement there affects the global economy. It’s said that the money flowing in and out daily here could be in the trillions of US Dollars."
"Of course, to make money."
Make money?
Xia Jing looked at Ye Qiu puzzledly.
Ye Qiu had just received a $5 million check from Mr. William, so he definitely needed to cash it. If he waited too long, the check would become void.
Ye Qiu needed to open a Citibank account, making domestic and international transactions much easier.
Xia Jing really didn’t know how much money Ye Qiu had made, but she knew he was quite wealthy in Jinling.
Not long after, the dishes they ordered were brought over by the waitress.
Cantonese classics like white cut chicken, char siu, roast goose, and roast suckling pig, virtually all were excellent.
Seeing these dishes, Miranda realized they were indeed tastier than the daily bread.
"Miranda, slow down. Let’s have some nourishing soup first."
Ye Qiu served Miranda a bowl of soup, and after taking a sip, she found it nice.
If in Huaxia, they could eat like this every day, for Miranda, it’d be no different from heaven.
Watching Ye Qiu occasionally picking dishes for Miranda and chatting in Spanish, Xia Jing felt irritated, as if she were an outsider.
Until after two in the afternoon, the three of them were full.
They had some leftovers from the meal.
Calling over the waitress to settle the bill, it was just a few hundred US Dollars.
Leaving the restaurant and exiting Chinatown, they got into the car and headed towards Wall Street. It didn’t take long before they reached the vicinity of Wall Street.
Wall Street is the name of a street in the southern part of Manhattan, New York City, extending from Broadway to the East River. It’s only a third of a mile long and 11 meters wide, known as the phonetic translation of "Wall Street" in English.
The street is narrow and short, with only seven blocks from Broadway to the East River, but it’s world-renowned as "America’s financial center." The offices of American moguls like the Morgan financial empire, Rockefeller’s oil dynasty, and the DuPont consortium’s banks, insurance companies, shipping, and rail companies are concentrated here.
The famous New York Stock Exchange is also here, remaining the headquarters of several major exchanges: NASDAQ, the American Stock Exchange, and the New York Futures Exchange, among others.
"Wall Street" now goes beyond the street itself, becoming a synonym for the entire area and can also refer to the financial markets and institutions that influence the entire US economy.
Ye Qiu and the others walked up to the intersection of Broadway and Wall Street, raising their heads to see the famous Trinity Church; even when Wall Street was just a dilapidated wall, it was already a landmark.
Now, directly in front of the Trinity Church is the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), with the American Stock Exchange (AMEX) behind, tall office buildings on both sides, and only a small surrounding area preserving the seventeenth-century garden and cemetery.
Crossing Broadway from the church’s front door marks the formal entrance to Wall Street.
This is Wall Street, the place where all those companies hope to be listed and ring the bell one day.
Wall Street might not be big or long, but the wealth accumulated here deeply influences the world.
Ye Qiu felt that as long as America remained the most developed place globally, this place would remain the world’s financial center.
In Hong Kong, Ye Qiu already established an investment group mainly targeting Hong Kong, the mainland, and the Southeast Asian market.
However, aside from Liu Lingxiu and a few others, most people were unaware.
Today, standing here on Wall Street, observing these skyscrapers, these symbols of American financial wealth, Ye Qiu knew that to control immense wealth worldwide.
This place was definitely one of the places he must invest in.
Xia Jing and Miranda didn’t know what Ye Qiu was looking at.
But Ye Qiu knew that one day, he would stand here; he would become one of the giants here; he would be someone who could make waves on Wall Street and influence not just the financial market, but the world’s economy with his moves.
Ye Qiu was someone who stood by his words.
"What’s so interesting?" Xia Jing asked.
Although it’s not her first time here, she didn’t find anything particularly interesting.
Passing by many suits-clad men and women, they might be staff from the exchanges, and many might just grab a simple fast food meal.
The truly wealthy rarely show up here.
And here, most are just office workers.
