City’s Best Divine Doctor

Chapter 2212 - 2172: Livor Mortis

The forensic examination found that the bones were all from the last six months, both male and female.

And the City Police Bureau investigating the hospital and several other laboratories with similar remains reported no cases of loss or theft.

So, did these bones come from somewhere else?

Zhao Ruxue and the City Police Bureau are still unclear about this matter.

Meanwhile, Ye Qiu said it might be related to the mummy case, and Zhao Ruxue has been on the lookout for any possible links between them.

"Have you found any clues?" Zhao Ruxue asked.

"Are you at work now?"

"Just came back from my shift."

Last night, Zhao Ruxue worked the night shift and is only now going home to rest.

As soon as she got home, her sister mentioned the incident of Ye Qiu going out to drink last night.

"You should rest first, I’ll join you by the lake tonight and take a look."

"Look at what?"

Zhao Ruxue asked perplexed.

"You’ll know then."

After hanging up, Ye Qiu returned to his room.

He realized that going to school no longer held much purpose, occasionally visiting Li Shen and his group sufficed.

He preferred to focus his time and energy on cultivation and making money.

As for healing and saving lives, Ye Qiu hadn’t really considered it.

Ye Qiu turned on his computer to play games.

The gaming company had yet to release the new monster-killing upgrade game, but Li Shen and his team had decided to sign the agency rights.

Thus, the early stages were still underway.

While playing the gun battle game, Ye Qiu’s phone rang.

Zhou Peng was calling.

"Doctor Ye, it’s me."

Zhou Peng said.

"Any reason for calling?"

"There’s a very ordinary patient, but the hospital can’t find any issue with him."

This patient came from a regular family, not one of those wealthy or high-ranking officials whom Ye Qiu usually charged a lot for consultations. Zhou Peng worried if Ye Qiu would come to take a look.

"What’s the situation?"

"The patient is clearly alive, yet shows spots similar to those on corpses."

Corpse spots?

Aren’t those only found on corpses?

Moreover, only after a certain period of death.

"I’ll come over to see."

Ye Qiu shut down his computer and left his room.

Ye Weidong, still smoking a cigar, heard Ye Qiu say, "Dad, I’m off to the hospital to see a patient."

"Alright, go ahead."

Ye Qiu left the room, got in the car, and drove to the Affiliated Hospital.

He seldom visits here nowadays.

However, besides consulting for patients, he had another reason—his relationship with Wen Xin.

Upon arriving at the Affiliated Hospital, he parked the car.

Then made his way to the first-floor lobby where Zhou Peng was already waiting.

Zhou Peng had just started working at the hospital not long ago, yet this hospital had suddenly received such a patient, worrying him that it might be an infectious disease.

Ye Qiu followed Zhou Peng to an isolated sickroom.

Apart from a few attending doctors, there were two female nurses inside.

Through various examinations, the male patient was still alive, though he looked unwell, and his body had started developing similar corpse spots.

As Ye Qiu arrived, the other doctors stepped aside.

Ye Qiu smelled a foul stench of death emanating from the patient.

The presence of death, even if he wasn’t dead yet, indicated he’d soon die from it.

Could this patient be involved in tomb raiding or some other occupation?

"What’s the patient’s situation? Who brought him here?"

"He was brought here this morning, but his family didn’t come." An attending doctor replied.

Previously, without medical fees and the family to sign, doctors at the Affiliated Hospital wouldn’t bother with such patients.

"Doctor Ye, are these corpse spots?"

"Yes."

Ye Qiu replied.

"How did this happen?"

Corpse spots normally appear on deceased bodies, so why does this living patient have them?

"Please wait outside, I’ll try to save him. Judging by his condition, he won’t last much longer under normal circumstances."

Zhou Peng and the other attending doctors left the room.

Soon, only Ye Qiu and the forty-something male patient remained inside.

"What’s your name? Do you wish to live?"

"I’m Li Haijun, a local. Doctor, please save me, I don’t want to die."

"How did you end up like this?"

"A few nights ago at a snack bar, I spotted some peculiarly dressed people. Looking at them more, I felt something was off when I went home. This morning, family brought me here, though they’re afraid of catching something and stayed distant."

Peculiar individuals?

"Could they be from Miaojiang?"

"Seems so." Li Haijun said.

"I understand. Close your eyes now."

Li Haijun quickly shut his eyes, thinking the young doctor Ye might perform some treatment. When he opened them again, he only saw Zhou Peng and others watching him.

His corpse spots had disappeared, and his skin color had returned to normal.

Just earlier, Ye Qiu mentioned that the patient’s liver was beginning to rot, leading to the rapid development of the corpse spots.

As for why it happened?

Ye Qiu didn’t say more.

"Am I alright?" Li Haijun asked.

"You’re fine now, but our hospital doctors will monitor you for a while." After all, for a living person to develop corpse spots was terrifying.

Now he would be treated as an experimental case for observation.

Ye Qiu left the sickroom, not immediately departing, but heading to see Wen Xin.

Wen Xin was a nurse, and they had a deep connection, yet Ye Qiu visited less unless there was a reason.

Wen Xin was at the office working, reviewing reports, and managing nurses’ schedules. Surprised to see Ye Qiu, she thought he’d be in school teaching.

"Why are you here?" Wen Xin asked.

Knowing Ye Qiu wouldn’t visit just for her.

"I consulted a patient, thought I’d see you while here."

Their relationship was that of a couple, though not official yet. Wen Xin’s mind constantly thought of Ye Qiu.

Sitting beside her, Ye Qiu viewed Wen Xin’s face, noticing how she appeared radiant after his help.

Previously, Wen Xin was troubled by severe bad breath, hiding her face. Now, she wore a mask only in the wards, not in the office.

"What are you looking at?" Wen Xin shyly asked.

"Nothing really."

Wen Xin had work, so Ye Qiu didn’t want to linger and disrupt her.

Leaving the Affiliated Hospital, Ye Qiu headed back to Peach Blossom Spring Villa.
