Lifting the hood of her cloak revealed a tall, middle-aged woman with shoulder length dark-blonde hair and a pair of soft violet eyes. Her build was slender but athletic, and while her clothes were high-quality, they were clearly designed with practicality as a priority.

It was obvious that this woman didn’t just sit behind a desk or lounge in luxury; she was used to fighting and adventuring.

Despite being slightly older, she was still quite the beauty, her mature features only adding to her charm, and the entire Rockwell Kingdom delegation was stunned the moment they laid eyes on her.

This, however, wasn’t because of her great strength, or how attractive she was; no, there was a much more important reason for everyone’s shock as almost all of them recognized who this woman was.

Seeing the stunned, faltering looks on their faces, the Elder had a bad premonition, lifted her hand, and opened her lips, like she was about to say something, but before she could get a word out, Allina shouted with all the volume she could muster, "All hail Her Royal Majesty, Second Queen Ancestor Ariana Rockwell!"

Instantly, everyone on the dock, from the lowliest labourer to Second Queen Natasha herself, dropped to one knee, lowered their heads, and shouted as loudly as they could, "Welcome home, Royal Ancestor!"

Her hand frozen mid-air, former Queen Ariana’s face twitched slightly.

It had been many decades since she returned to her homeland or been greeted in such an ostentatious manner, so she was feeling a bit out of sorts.

In the Kore Sovereignty, she was just another Cultivator; a wealthy and powerful one, but still just one Spirit Elite among many.

In the Rockwell Kingdom, though, she was a legendary figure, the nation’s second ruling monarch and the most powerful living member of the Rockwell Family.

It was also because Ariana Rockwell knew all this that she decided to remain as low-key as possible, only sending a messenger to announce her arrival a couple hours in advance.

She had also intentional concealed her identity, hoping that everyone wouldn’t make too big a deal out of her return.

Ariana knew that if she had followed proper protocol and given the usual 3 days advanced warning, there wouldn’t just be a couple hundred soldiers and a handful of Spirit Initiates waiting for her, but rather an entire Army in formation as well as a city full of well-wishers lining the docks and streets, cheering her name.

Such was the reception the most powerful figure in the history of the Rockwell Kingdom was supposed to receive after nearly 100 years away from the nation.

While she was initially thrown a bit off-balance, however, Ariana Rockwell was a worldly-wise woman, so she swiftly adapted, switching from her current identity as an Elder of a large chamber of commerce to her previous one as a Royal Ancestor.

Assuming a regal demeanor, the former queen lifted her head slightly and issued a single, simple command, "Rise."

As if a Heavenly decree had been given, the hundreds of people gathered around the dock got to their feet, though most remained in place and kept their heads down.

Before she could say anything further, Ariana heard a low whistle come from behind her, soon accompanied by a clearly mocking quip, "Seems like you’re a really big deal here, honourable Elder Rockwell. I guess that’s not too surprising though, lowly people and lowly places do tend to go together."

Hearing such insulting words being directed not only at their respected Royal Ancestor, but also at themselves and their kingdom, the soldiers gathered at the docks immediately felt a surge of anger, many of them gritting their teeth and gripping their spears tighter.

Still, no one who had been gathered here from the Misty City side was a fool, so despite feeling enraged, they held their positions and their tongues.

Anyone who could speak so disrespectfully to a Mid-Rank Spirit Elite had to have astonishing strength or come from an incredible background, most likely both. Causing a scene here would only serve to complicate the situation further and may even lead to dangerous consequences.

The Rockwell Kingdom couldn’t afford to take action here; all they could do was leave matters to their former queen.

Not receiving any kind of challenge, the annoying female voice spoke up again, "Hoh, the dogs here are well trained at least."

Sensing that some of those from her side were about to lose control, Natasha Summer stepped forward and addressed the rude woman who had followed her favourite aunt down the gangplank, "Sonia Bennett, it’s been too long."

"Is that you, Natasha Summers? What are you doing here?" Lady Bennett asked with obviously exaggerated surprise before snapping her fingers and nodding, "That’s right, I did hear something about you, a Direct Descendant of the Summers Family, running away to get hitched in some backwater hovel!"

"I see you haven’t changed one bit since I last saw you, Lady Bennett," Natasha shot back, her business smile still as calm and friendly as ever as she slowly swept her eyes over her old ’friend’.

Sonia was, like most powerful female cultivators, quite beautiful.

She had a young, innocent face, wide bright eyes, and the long emerald green hair typical of a member of the Bennett Family. However, when it came to her height, bust, waist, hips, and legs, she was clearly lacking even compared to someone like Natasha who was also considered rather ’plain’.

As for women like Celestina or Cynthia, calling Sonia’s figure and looks ’juvenile’ would probably be generous.

Clearly understanding the hidden barb her former rival was making, Sonia’s eyes narrowed dangerously as the aura of a High-Rank Spirit Adept began pulsing from her body.

Sensing this Cultivation Aura, Natasha immediately wore a ’shocked’ expression and ’apologized’, "Forgive me, ’Elder’ Sonia, I see now that you have changed quite a bit. Congratulations indeed."

When the word ’Elder’ left Natasha’s lips, Sonia’s brow visibly twitched as a look of frustration and grievance momentarily covered her face.

Natasha obviously didn’t miss this reaction; in fact, she had been counting on it.

In the Vast Ocean Trading Company, there were many requirements to become a Low-Rank Elder, but the two most critical ones were to have accumulated enough financial merits and to reach the High-Rank Adept Realm in any cultivation system.

Clearly, Sonia had fulfilled the second of these requirements, but from the sour look she briefly showed, it was apparent she hadn’t met the first.

"Oh my, don’t tell me you, a Direct Descendant of the Bennett Family, hasn’t been officially promoted to the position of Elder yet," Natasha patted her chest, causing a faint ripple in her modest but still substantially larger peaks.

Dipping her head again, the Rockwell Kingdom’s Second Queen hurriedly followed up, "My apologizes, High-Rank Manager Sonia."

This wasn’t the first time these two had traded insults, but it was clear to anyone listening that Natasha was far better at word games than Sonia, a fact that was only further emphasized when the latter was the one who snapped first, "Natasha! You bitc..."
