"Elder Sister Eris, are you sure we should be out here alone?" Toby asked, though having lived with his new big sister for several months now, the boy already knew what her answer would be.

Sure enough, the feisty red-head turned back and used her good left hand to lightly smack her adopted little brother upside the head and declared, "Stop worrying so much! We’ll be fine!"

Having ’appropriately’ disciplined Toby, Eris grabbed Mabel’s hand and dashed off again, big, excited grins adorning both their faces.

During the crisis in Redwood Town, Eris had matured greatly after experiencing much physical and emotional hardship; however, it seemed recklessness and a bottomless desire for adventure were inalterable parts of her personality.

Since arriving in Misty City, Lucas and Christina had constantly been busy with their own projects, leaving Eris with the most free-time of the trio.

She still trained together with her little brother and big sister most days, and frequently helped out with Lucas and Tina’s work whenever she could, but even after all that, Eris found herself idle more often than not.

Now, the rehabilitation for her lost right arm did eat up quite a bit of that free time, but once Eris was done with the prescribed exercises to strengthen her left arm and fix her balance issues, she inevitably began seeking out things to do.

At first, Eris was content to explore her maternal family’s Manor, checking out all the various residences, training facilities, warehouses, and other extraneous buildings she came across, but no matter how big it was, the Balfour Family compound was still finite.

Once Eris had conquered the Manor, she turned her eyes to the wider Misty City. Unlike roaming around her new home though, the young girl never went out into town all by herself.

Most times, Eris would be together with Lucas, Tina, her mother Sasha, or some combination of the three, but when all of them were busy, Eris inevitably set her sights on her new adopted siblings.

Toby and Mabel were both extremely smart and sensible children, likely a result of growing up in that shady slum orphanage in Crystal Lake. They had learned young to follow instructions, not raise objections, and not cause trouble if they wanted to eat and have a roof over their heads.

Despite being removed from that kind of toxic environment, obedience seemed deeply ingrained into both of the children, so they were still having trouble saying ’no’ when someone asked them to do something, especially when the request came from one of their saviours.

This often resulted in them being roped into Eris’ whims.

Of course, Eris wasn’t acting maliciously. From her perspective, she was just trying to be a good big sister and bring her little siblings out to have fun. It was true she may have gotten up to some minor mischief in Misty City, but nothing she did could remotely be considered wicked or dangerous.

Whether this was all a good or bad thing was difficult to say, but what was clear was that where Eris led, Toby and Mabel followed.

With all that being said, the younger Mabel, just 7 years old, had much more quickly adapted to her new life and was rapidly taking on some of her big sister’s bad habits, something that alarmed her responsible older brother, Toby.

Eris may call them little brother and little sister, and Sasha may treat them well as their new mother, but Toby had experienced enough lies and deception from ’kind’ people before to not let his guard down so easily.

Seeing Mabel relax so much and really think of Eris as her true big sister was, in Toby’s opinion, dangerous. As for the little girl acting out or being disobedient, that concerned Toby even more as he knew that if they did something to upset Eris or Sasha, they could very well find themselves back on the streets.

Unfortunately for the boy, there was scant little he could do about all this in his current position. He had tried to warn Mabel to behaver herself, but the lax environment they now lived in seemed to have dulled the little girl’s ability to sense danger, something which used to be even sharper than his own.

Unable to consult anyone else around him for fear of exposing his insecurities and appearing weak, Toby could only remain on alert and keep a close watch on his two sisters to ensure they didn’t get into trouble.

A far more relaxed member of Eris’ gang was Yuki, who the young girl always went looking for to ask if she wanted to tag along.

Although the fox kit spent most of her time together with Frey’s pack, whenever Eris came over and mentioned going out to try new foods, Yuki would scamper over, leap up, wrap herself around the young girl’s neck, and yip impatiently, as if asking ’what are we waiting for?’

Putting it frankly, Eris never lacked for company as she could always find someone to go out together with. The problem was, although Sasha had grown up in the South East Province, and Christina had visited Misty City several times in the past, neither of them was really familiar with the urban layout here.

If Eris wanted to do more than just wander aimlessly, she needed a local guide.

Fortunately, while she was exploring the Manor, Eris made a bunch of new friends and acquaintances.

She shared snacks with the maids, sparred with her cousins, nieces and nephews, went fishing with the older servants, and so much more.

Between Lucas, Christina, and Eris, it was difficult to say who was more respected by the Manor’s staff, but if it was just a question of which of the Marquess’ Disciples was most well-liked, Eris won hands down.

Eris had a way of worming her way into people’s hearts and making them feel comfortable around her.

For that reason, whenever she wanted to venture beyond the Manor’s walls, someone familiar with the city always volunteered to go with her.

In this way, Eris always had a Core Formation or Sea Establishment Realm tour-guide accompanying her, like her big nephew Timothy, but one such Practitioner obviously wasn’t sufficient for her protection.

Despite that, none of Eris’ loved ones was worried about this issue.
