Zade was by Seara’s side the second they heard the explosive sound, and Caspian rushed to the kitchen where his mate was to check on her.

"What the hell is that?" Jeremy stood up immediately and went to the window to see the fire had burned one of the buildings in the residence.

Meanwhile, Zade’s eyes glistened; he was mind-linking someone to know what was going on. The same thing happened to Ace.

And then they heard the second explosion.

"Damn it," Zade growled. He was kneeling behind Seara, putting his arm protectively over her shoulder, as he listened to the report through the mindlink.

After some time, there was no follow-up explosion. Zade helped Seara stand up, and from the kitchen, Leia and Caspian joined them.

"Jeremy, stay with them," Zade said to Jeremy, who wanted to argue. He wanted to go and see what was going on. "I want you to stay here." His voice became firmer, and Jeremy had no room to argue.

After that, Zade shifted his attention to Seara, who clung to him. She could see the fire out there; there was so much fire that it turned the night sky bright.

"Stay with Leia and Jeremy, okay? I will be right back."

"But..." Seara didn’t want him to leave. It could be dangerous out there. Zade was immortal, but he was not invincible. He could die if he got caught in the explosion. "Don’t go..."

"Seara, you will be fine here. Stay with Leia. There is nothing that will happen; I will not let anything happen to you."

No. Zade was mistaken. Seara was not afraid for herself; she was afraid for him. She was afraid something bad would happen to him.

On the other hand, as if she understood what she should do, Leia immediately went to Seara’s side and gently pulled her away from Zade.

"It’s okay, honey. You will be fine with me. Stay here and accompany me, okay? I am scared too." Leia hugged her, preventing Seara from getting to Zade. She couldn’t push Leia away. "It’s okay, Zade. Go. I will be with her."

"I will be right back," Zade said, kissing Seara’s forehead briefly before he went outside with Caspian and Ace.

Meanwhile, Jeremy stayed behind to take care of the two of them, but he sensed there were more warriors who came near this building.

The Lycan king, his brother, and his father must have called all of them here for extra protection. They didn’t need him there; they only saw him as young and weak. That’s why they used that line to make him stay.

"Let’s go to your bedroom, Mom. I think it will be safer there; if something happens, we can leave through the secret passageway," Jeremy suggested.

"Alright, let’s go," Leia agreed. She took Seara’s hand and never let go of it or let her out of her sight.

The three of them went to the second floor and walked to the master bedroom, which Leia and Caspian occupied.

"It’s okay, honey. Don’t be afraid; nothing will happen to them." Leia reassured Seara when she saw how pale she was, squeezing her hand lightly, despite her own fear. She was also worried about her mate and Ace.

"Okay," Seara replied weakly.

They arrived at the room, but Jeremy didn’t come in with them; instead, he stayed at the door, and Leia immediately knew what was on her son’s mind.

"Don’t you dare, Jeremy!" Leia glared at him. "Come inside."

"It’s okay, Mom. There are a lot of warriors around the building. I know you can feel it too; there is no need for me to be here. I will check what happened and then come back quickly. I will be fine."

"Jeremy Arthyl Sol! You get back here! Jeremy, don’t you dare to play bravado with me!" Leia screamed at her son, but he had shifted into his wolf and rushed away. "That brat! If he were still little, I would spank him the moment I get my hand on him!"

Leia looked very irritated, but Seara could see a flicker of worry in her eyes. She was angry because she feared for Jeremy’s safety, not because she hated him.

Somehow, along the line, Seara used to interpret anger as hate.

Because no one had ever been angry with her because they were worried about her. Usually, when they were angry, what followed would be something miserable for her.

Therefore, when she saw Leia enraged with Jeremy, she shut down. Her whole body froze.

She recalled a similar bad situation that occurred a few years ago when she was still part of the Blackthorne Pack. Some rogues attacked their pack, and her adoptive mother pushed her away from the secret passageway in the house, saying the room was not enough for them, while she took Brigid with her.

No. The room was enough for ten people; she just didn’t want her to be there.

Seara relived her fear at that moment; she had no other choice but to go back to her small bedroom and hide under the bed.

Fortunately, the rogues didn’t manage to infiltrate the pack deeply before the warriors subdued all of them.

However, when the former gama Javen learned about that, he was angry because he thought Seara was trying to gain sympathy in a critical moment for intentionally risking her life by not going to hide in the secret room.

Of course, no one believed her version of the story.

"Seara, are you okay? Honey? What happened?" Leia stopped nagging at Jeremy, who had long gone, and when she turned around, she saw how pale Seara was. Her body went rigid. "Oh, honey. I am sorry. I was not angry with you. That brat always gives me a headache. I want to chain him to the wall sometimes."

Breathe...

Breathe...

Seara forced herself to breathe, remembering what Jane had taught her whenever she felt as if her body didn’t want to listen to her.
