Chapter 96: Chapter 96

’At a faraway pack’

"We will talk about it later, okay? Are you fine now?" Lucian asks me. I know he’s asking me to sincerely ascertain if everything is fine but I am still irritated. Selena is still at the back of my head.

"I remember I told all of you that I was opening the door so you could grant me something." I say it again. I have no idea how I’m going to address this with the kind of fierce personality they have,but I’m not one to die in silence.

"Is going to see your father not enough? Now what? You’re going to ask us to go with Lucian? Is that a little one?" Damien is asking.

To be sincere, I would have been super excited if whatever it is that is draining Lucian would have taken Damien instead.

"Damien." Rowan calls his name but they are all staring at him sharply.

"I was basically stating a mere suspicion. Isn’t it my right to say what I want to and where?" He refuses to drop the conversation and is actively steering towards an argument.

"That’s enough. What’s the second one Mira? You want to release Selena, don’t it?" The smirk on Kai’s stupid face is currently upsetting me.

"You want to release Selena from Alpha Kael?" Rowan asks me.

"You are having a sympathetic feeling for the person that looked forward to ending you. She was really a better person than you." Damien says to me.

Surprisingly,I’m no longer fazed by his nasty snide remarks.

"Selena is as good as a walking time bomb around you. She might explode at any given hour and in a literal manner. We can’t have you take that risk particularly when guards have not been assigned to you. We’re not going to do that Mira." Kai tells me.

I gaze at him with intense dislike. If he had just allowed me to say what I wished to the exact way I had planned everything in my head. It would have worked perfectly well. He just had to ruin everything.

"Is it true? Do you wish to let Selena go?" Lucian is asking me with that soft gaze in his eyes.

"Yes. I wish to let her go. I can’t get it out of my head."

"You will have to learn Selena. When the clan would eventually clash and people would rush after everything just to save themselves. Gruesome sights. You are not permitted to ignore them as they are. The only thing we can do for you now is get you to visit her." Lucian says something that helps to make me feel better.

"I think I can make do with one. It’s not that bad. Thank you."

"We will all escort you before Selena succeeds in cutting your throat."

"No, I want to go alone. I need to talk to her. Without the rest of the four of you there. She will open up to me."

"Selena is not a goody two shoes like you Mira. She does what she deems necessary in her own perspective, not in your perspective nor any of ours."

"You do not have to judge her to this extent. How am I sure she was not once like me and you all forced her to become that woman? What if instead of Selena I was the one? The training and all of this? Is this what you guys would have done to me? You would have punished me so ruthlessly. All in the names of being leaders? I’m sure she must have seen it coming and it’s probably why she tried to start over. Only the moon goddess knows the next absurd thing you guys are going to ask me to do next!"

"Mira, you do not understand. You cannot go to see Selena all on your own. Majority of the members of Alpha Kael’s clan are faithful to Selena and would harm you without a second thought!" Rowan is trying to convince me.

"I am not going to give a listening ear to whatever it is any of you are going to say. My word is going to stab today. I will proceed to see Selena on my own." I have no idea where the courage I have mustered is coming from.

"Are you really sure you want to do this Mira?" Lucien is asking me.

I nod my head hoping they will just let me go already.

"You all need to stop behaving like this is so much of a tedious task. I am just basically going to see Selena."

"You do not understand Mira."

"I do not wish to understand a single thing."

"Let her go."

"Rowan?"

"Let her go. She will learn the hard way. Besides, there’s no use trying to stop her now. She is hellbent on going there. If we do not give her the permission, she will go ahead to go see Selena by herself and that is even worse if you ask me." He is surprisingly starting the exact thing I would have done if they decided to not let me go see me alone. I would have eventually gone ahead to see her by myself.

"Fine then. No more arguments about this. You can go. Ask directions from the royal shadow guards." It comes from Damien and honestly, I’m not so surprised.

"Thank you." It feels like a heavy load has come off my chest. Now I do not have to be bothered about pleasing the brothers when I’m apologizing to her.

"Lucian, we need to go. She can’t possibly go see her with us here." Kai says to Lucian.

They all share another look before finally deciding to let me be.

I shuffle my letter under my bed making sure I tuck it really deep inside. I have a strange feeling they will come back to ransack my room while I’m alone with Selena.

Their warnings resound in my head over and over again and I decide to take extra caution just for the sake of it.

I try over and over again to summon my wolf. Nothing surfaces.

"If I have my wolf, I should be able to face Selena on my own." I say to nobody in particular.

I try different things just to wake her, to get her to react or something. Nothing at all seems to be working. I inhale and I exhale through my mouth convincing myself that she’s there. I just have to find myself.

I take turns calming myself down.

I want to hear her, feel her, just be sure that she’s there. If I have no wolf, there is no way I would have felt the bond. Or am I just cursed?

I shake my head and I take my mind off it.

I put all of my clothes back on again. And I go to see her. I tuck a small pocket knife in my gown just for the purpose of safety.

"Luna Mira." One of the palace maids bows to me.

I almost jumped in fright with her sudden greeting. She still lays low waiting for me to ask her to rise. I wear a neutral poker face as expected and it hides my fright.

"You May rise." I am taking a proper look at her. She looks like the type that has been bullied endlessly.

"Are you alright?" I know I should not be asking but I just can’t walk away from someone as badly injured as her. What happens to the name of the clan and the palace if something goes eerily wrong?

"Yes, Luna Mira. Everything is fine. Thank you for your concern." She keeps trembling and staring at the corner where she came out from with her side eyes.

"Everything does not seem to be alright. And I do not find it funny that you are lying to me or even trying to hide things from me. This is my palace. I believe I should be aware of what is happening in this palace with each of the maids,right?" I try to persuade her to talk.

If there is one thing I have noticed that stands out amongst the members of the clan is the deep and utmost respect for their leaders. They never question their judgement. They see them too much as gods that should be worshipped.

And I use that to my advantage.

"Luna Mira,there, Selena’s trusted friend is making things difficult for those of us that refuse to pledge allegiance to Selena. How can we give our trust to that treacherous woman?" Her legs are still shaking and she is still cowering in fear.

My heart stills when I hear what exactly Selena’s friend is doing. The only way she would be Able to do such a bold thing without fear of Damien,Lucian,Rowan and Kai is through Serena’s guidance.

"It’s fine. Thank you for letting me know about this. Consider your problems solved."

"No ma, please do not pass any information to the royals without any evidence. She has been very careful in her tracks and as such we have not been able to get her to be herself in front of the council." She looks at me searching my eyes to be sure I’m not going to reveal her name.

"I’ll definitely not drop your name but I promise to come back for you." I say nothing but the truth to her.

It’s going to be much of a hassle to go back to them

To report this issue. I will go back to see them after assessing the true situation of this. But that will be after I’m done with Selena.

"You may leave."

She walks fast, like someone is chasing her.
