Asher, Finch, and the rest of the gang remained within the Event Hall, waiting for the place to clear out before they left.
"Sigh... it seems we get to go home soon yet again," Finch stated as he remained seated.
Ryaen nodded her head as she replied, "Indeed, after the year-end exam, we will go home for the year-end break, but I wonder how long that will last," her tone calm as her black eyes shifted towards the door.
William’s fingers drummed against the armrest of his seat in thought. He was thinking about how to spend the ten thousand Academy points he had just received. While he had a sword technique of his own, he lacked a movement technique. Although his family had one, he wanted to buy one that was better.
Of course, techniques didn’t exactly have grades or anything of the sort, as any technique could be trained to the peak, but William didn’t feel like he had the time to push the movement technique his family had given forward.
While Asher might make creating techniques look so easy, they weren’t exactly so simple. So he planned to buy a better movement technique, then train his proficiency in it during the school break. His eyes shifted towards Vaelric, who was seated beside him. With Asher graduating, Ryaen would step into Rank 1, and he, Vaelric, and Vaelra would fight for Rank 2.
As for fighting with Ryaen for the first rank, William wasn’t too confident about that. After all, Ryaen was simply too talented.
"Any plans during the break?" Vaelric asked as he sat with his legs crossed.
Ryaen, who was seated beside him, answered, "I’ve been slacking off lately and wasted one whole month at the Thalvorn Empire," her tone calm. "During the break, I will be getting back into my routine."
Although she said that, she planned to intensify her training even more. After all, Asher was already this strong, and she didn’t want to get left behind. Although she knew it was impossible to match such a talent and catch up to him in terms of Life Rank, and even if she did, she couldn’t match the combat prowess he possessed, she still didn’t want to be left too far behind.
So for the next two years, it was do or die.
"Same," Finch replied. With his new talent, he didn’t plan on wasting time. He had already seen its effects earlier that day as he cultivated throughout the morning.
William’s eyes shifted towards Finch as he spoke in a teasing tone, "We will be waiting for you in the top ten ranks."
He teased Finch, as he was the only one within the top ten present. But Finch wasn’t bothered. He could only wonder if he could close the gap within a couple of months and step into the top ten rankings.
After all, the other students had to train their weapons, weapon techniques, and all that, but he didn’t necessarily have to do so. But alas, he didn’t know. He could only find out the more he trained. Besides, Ryaen’s talent wasn’t just for cultivation, as she was also highly talented when it came to Astra Energy manipulation and hand-to-hand combat, amongst other things, which would increase his own personal combat prowess.
Finch simply smiled as he couldn’t help but look forward to his friend’s reaction when he climbed up the ranks in a few months. He would definitely take a picture or make a video of it.
William’s eyes turned towards Asher, who seemed lost in thought, as he asked, "What about you, Asher? Although I’m guessing you will be heading to the Frontier immediately."
Asher snapped out of his thoughts as he shook his head in reply, "I might not head to the Outpost immediately. I might train for a few months before I leave, although I’m not sure yet," he replied, as he hadn’t really made any plans. When the time came, he would decide, as he was the type to make on-the-spot decisions instead of making plans in advance.
William and the rest nodded their heads as they continued exchanging small talk.
Seeing the Event Hall clear out, Asher and the rest rose to their feet as they headed towards their building.
"I can’t help but look forward to the exams," Ryaen spoke as she walked.
William nodded in agreement as he replied, "Same, it’s been a while since I got to move around and swing my Claymore sword," his tone almost expectant.
None of them were really worried about the exams. If they were expelled, then the whole class might as well just get expelled too.
"I wonder how talented the next first-year students will be," Finch stated in thought. After all, just because their year was filled with talented people didn’t mean the next year would be.
Vaelric simply shrugged as he replied, "What does that even have to do with us? But if we are allowed to maybe watch the battle aspect of their entrance exam, that would be quite fun," a small smile appearing on his lips.
Although fighting was fun and all, sometimes being on the sidelines and watching was just as fun.
Asher couldn’t deny Vaelric’s words. Personally, he would also love to watch their fights. But unfortunately, such things were only limited to a certain few Nobles and the Emperor himself.
"I think, as the top rankers of our year, we would be made to give an orientation to the new first-years, just as the second years had done with us," Asher stated as he remembered the second years introducing various things to them before expelling a few students on their very first day.
The others nodded their heads, as they kind of looked forward to having the power to tell some new students that they were expelled on their very first day.
As Asher walked, he passed by the Logistics and Missions Operation Hall. He stared at the building for a moment as he couldn’t help but feel melancholic. He remembered the Facilitator who always approved missions for him. He also walked past the Training Facility Building, remembering the woman who always seemed to have a lot to talk about as she guided him to his training chambers.
’Doesn’t even seem like I’ve spent a whole year here,’ he thought to himself as he walked.
Since he was little, during the days of his orphanage, he had never hated school. After all, everything came easily to him. If anything, school had felt boring at times.
And in some way, it was the same here. Classes were easy for him, so he never bothered attending them, just like he usually did back on Earth. He only attended his classes back on Earth when he had an assessment to submit or anything that required his presence, like an exam or practical.
’One year at the Wargrave Estate, one year at the Star Academy, where would I be spending the next one year?’ he mused to himself. ’The Outpost? And after that, where would I spend the next one year? The Cursed Lands?’ he thought.
’I should probably explore the entire Separate Dimension one last time before I leave,’ he concluded.
