Comprehending Myriad Techniques as Woodcutter
Chapter 251 - 197: You Think You Can Leave Without Capturing Me?Chapter 251: Chapter 197: You Think You Can Leave Without Capturing Me?
So when the horse bandits heard Xie Yuan reveal his identity, they all frowned deeply.
"It’s true. Here’s my sword, and my clothes."
Xie Yuan gestured. A few of the bandits took a look, then untied his satchel. Just as he’d said, they found a set of white robes inside.
"He’s telling the truth!"
The bandits felt they were in a thorny situation. One of them gritted his teeth and said:
"Can’t you so-called righteous disciples just wear your damn uniforms?"
"And let you get away?" Xie Yuan chuckled.
A vein throbbed on the leader’s forehead. He fought the urge to whip him again, but managed to restrain himself.
A glint flashed in Xie Yuan’s eyes. ’This one knows when to back down.’
’But it’s no use. I’ve already committed that whip strike to memory.’
The bandit leaders huddled to one side to discuss the matter, unsure of what to do.
If they let him go, how could they answer to their brothers who had died? Were they just supposed to forget about it?
But if they kept him, what could they even do? The big boss had given strict orders not to provoke disciples from the Major Sects, especially not now...
The leader, though furious, had already decided to let him go. He said coldly:
"So what if you’re a disciple of the Cloud Mountain Sword Sect? Does that give you the right to mess with us? No. You’re not leaving until you give us a proper explanation."
He sounded harsh, but he was actually offering Xie Yuan a way out of the situation.
"Mess with you? Weren’t your men the ones who tried to rob us first?"
Xie Yuan said, amused:
"Whatever. What kind of explanation do you want?"
"Hmph. I was going to take your life, but I’m feeling merciful today. Just hand over some Silver Coins and I’ll let you go..."
"No way! I don’t have any money, but you can have my life!"
Xie Yuan shouted, jutting his chin out defiantly.
The leader’s temple twitched. ’Is this guy a complete idiot?’ he thought.
He said coldly:
"If you won’t give it to me, I’ll search you myself. And when I find it, you can... just get lost!"
"You dare search a disciple of the Sword Sect?"
Xie Yuan roared angrily.
Veins bulged on the leader’s forehead. Anyone else who acted so suicidal would have been killed a hundred times over by now.
He forced himself not to draw his blade, closed his eyes and said:
"Fine. I’m in a good mood today. Just get the hell out of here, and don’t let me see your face again. Next time, I won’t be so forgiving!"
"Next time? If you’ve got the guts, why don’t you do something now!"
Xie Yuan shouted.
The leader finally snapped, his face as black as soot.
"When I tell you to get lost, you get lost! Enough with the damn chatter! Fuck!"
Xie Yuan saw them back off and watch him warily, looking utterly determined to make him leave. He thought, ’The Sword Sect’s reputation really is growing... This won’t do. I’ll have come all this way for nothing! You think I’m just going to leave without being captured?’
He patted the sand off his clothes, accepted the sword and satchel that a junior bandit politely handed him, said a quick "thanks," and then stared coldly at the leader.
"Lu the Third’s entire band of horse bandits is gathered at Fengsha Collection. Hmph. I don’t know what you’re all plotting, but I’m reporting this to my sect elders."
The rank-and-file bandits didn’t react, but the leaders’ expressions changed drastically.
The head bandit forced a smile.
"What’s there to report? Our business is with Su Xing. It has nothing to do with the Sword Sect."
"Who’s to say? I have to report it either way. I’ll let the Grandmaster elders come take a look for themselves."
The leaders exchanged glances. The head bandit pinched the bridge of his nose, his finger trembling as he pointed at Xie Yuan.
"T-tie him up!"
The bandits surrounded Xie Yuan again, watching him with caution. But to their surprise, Xie Yuan simply handed his sword and satchel politely back to the bandit beside him and surrendered without a struggle. He snorted, "Should’ve just done this from the start, shouldn’t you?"
"..."
"Damn it, we’ve run into a real lunatic today!"
"If a guy like him can get into the Sword Sect, why couldn’t I? If I’d known, I would’ve gone to Cloud Mountain to train instead of becoming a damn horse bandit!"
Seeing Xie Yuan’s stubbornly jutted chin, the leaders all cursed him inwardly.
Several bandits bound Xie Yuan tightly with ropes. They confiscated his sword and the small hatchet at his waist, leaving him completely neutralized.
The bandits visibly relaxed. They tossed Xie Yuan onto the back of a horse and trotted back toward Fengsha Collection.
Lying on the horse, facing the wind and sand, Xie Yuan watched the bandits, a cold glint flashing in the depths of his eyes.
He had only dared to do this because he was confident in his abilities.
Though he was bound, the bandits believed him to be merely at the Third Training. Not daring to be too rough for fear of the Sword Sect, they tied him in a way that even a practitioner at the Fourth Training would find difficult to escape, and left it at that.
But this method of binding was no obstacle for Xie Yuan. He could break free whenever he pleased.
As for his enemies, the three leaders were indeed in the Qi Blood First Transformation Realm. Their strength was nothing to scoff at.
Having fought and survived for years in a chaotic place like the West Desert to become leaders, their strength far surpassed that of an ordinary Martial Artist. They naturally possessed Cultivation Techniques and body-tempering methods bestowed by Lu the Third.
However, compared to a disciple from a Major Sect, their raw power was still a step behind. Xie Yuan could activate his Golden Bell Shield and withstand at least three of their palm strikes without injury. That was more than enough time to break his bonds and seize the initiative. From there, whether he chose to fight or escape using the roguish combination of the Celestial Concealment Skill and Cloud Dragon Step, this gang of bandits would be powerless to stop him.
Xie Yuan had long etched the name Lu the Third into his heart.
Be it his own personal feud or the vengeance he owed for Mu Chaoyun being hunted, he dared not forget.
And the blood debt owed by the Longteng Escort Agency was a constant fire in his heart.
Though he couldn’t deal with the man just yet, now that he sensed a major plot was brewing, he had to see it for himself—and throw a wrench in the works. He would absolutely not let Lu the Third’s plans succeed so easily.
Fengsha Collection was strategically located. Lu the Third couldn’t possibly occupy it indefinitely. Taking control of it now meant he was plotting something big, and it was imminent.
Were they really just here to ambush Su Xing? Xie Yuan didn’t quite believe it. He had a feeling Lu the Third wasn’t the type to act on a mere whim.
In any case, he was already in disguise and confident in his abilities. As long as Lu the Third himself wasn’t in Fengsha Collection, there was no harm in scouting things out before deciding his next move.
