But Lin Beichen wouldn’t back down so easily, and his goals weren’t limited to that.
He intended to clean up the entire Golden Triangle.
If Emily knew about this, she’d probably be scared stiff by Lin Beichen’s actions.
"Don’t worry, I’m not like others." Lin Beichen explained.
Hmph, everyone thinks that way, thinks they are different, the protagonist of this world.
Emily was still skeptical that Lin Beichen could deal with the Milo Family.
The Milo Family’s power was just too extensive.
To talk about its history, you have to go back 50 years.
Back then, Morrison Milu, the founder of the Milo Family, was in his youth and already well-respected in Mo City.
After fifty years of development, its influence now permeated numerous areas within the Golden Triangle. Morrison Milu was now 70 years old, with no one in Mo City able to challenge his authority.
Not to mention in current times.
In Mo City, if he wanted someone dead, that person wouldn’t survive until the next day, not even a moment earlier or later.
"In fact, asking me about this is pointless. Everyone in Mo City knows where the Milo Family’s base is."
Emily said casually, aware of what Lin Beichen was up to, but unable to intervene.
Lin Beichen responded with a smile, "But you’re the only one I know right now."
"Who else would I ask if not you?"
Upon hearing Lin Beichen’s reasoning, Emily thought his words made some sense.
Then, her gaze lifted as if she made a significant decision internally.
"In Mo City, even if I say the name of a place, you probably wouldn’t know where it is."
"So, I’ll just take you there."
Lin Beichen figured she was just taking him somewhere, and with him around, no harm would come, so he nodded in agreement: "Thank you then."
Emily then yawned, "I’ll take a nap in the car."
After walking all afternoon, and now being nighttime, it’s no surprise she was ready for sleep.
Seeing how tired she was, Lin Beichen understood and nodded: "Have a good sleep."
"I’m steady at driving, not like you who’d drive the car into a ditch." Lin Beichen teased.
Emily seemed exhausted and didn’t banter with Lin Beichen, only giving him a sideways glance before leaning against the car window and slowly falling asleep.
As for Lin Beichen, his resilience was extraordinary; going without sleep for three days and nights wouldn’t affect him.
With no more chatter through the night, Lin Beichen drove all night until he finally saw Mo City’s sign in the morning light.
He parked the car by the roadside and looked at Emily, seeing she was still asleep.
However, her position had changed from leaning on the window to sleeping with her head up.
Crystal-clear drool hung on her lip, adding a bit of playful cuteness to her appearance.
Lin Beichen couldn’t bear to wake her.
Besides, now that they’d arrived in Mo City, he didn’t mind waiting a little longer.
Then, Lin Beichen crossed his arms, closed his eyes, and rested in the car.
Soon, the sun climbed higher, growing hotter.
Sunlight shone through the car glass, illuminating Emily’s face.
It made Emily’s sleep a bit uncomfortable, and soon she slowly opened her eyes, wiped away the drool from her mouth corner, and looked around.
"Have we reached Mo City?"
Seeing the car was stopped, Emily surveyed the scene outside.
She found herself parked beside a landmark of Mo City.
Then she noticed Lin Beichen beside her, resting with closed eyes, and realized the situation.
It seemed Lin Beichen hadn’t recognized the way upon reaching Mo City but chose not to disturb her sleep, thus parked the car and rested himself.
Who knew this guy could be so considerate?
Emily sat in the passenger seat, scrutinizing the driver, Lin Beichen, just inches away.
Lately, Lin Beichen wasn’t truly asleep; rather, he was in a half-awake state.
If there’s danger, he could react instantly, but without any, he preferred to rest a bit more.
After all, he had a super difficult task ahead, he had to be ready.
Despite being in a half-awake state, Lin Beichen was still keenly aware of his surroundings.
For instance, the Emily observing him closely now.
Speaking of Emily gazing at Lin Beichen, she was currently filled with curiosity about him.
Curious about Lin Beichen’s identity, curious about why he’s undertaking such dangerous tasks in Mo City.
Of course, curious whether he’d succeed, whether he could survive.
While she was examining Lin Beichen’s face closely, Lin Beichen suddenly opened his eyes, looking at her expressionlessly.
This startled Emily, causing her to jerk back quickly, explaining: "I wasn’t looking at you, I was..."
"I was..."
"I was..." After stalling for a long while, she couldn’t articulate her thoughts, blushing awkwardly, dying to find a hole to hide in.
Luckily Lin Beichen understood her embarrassment and didn’t further trouble her.
Instead, he changed the subject: "Emily, since you’re awake, take me to the Milo Family now."
Emily nodded in response.
To save the hassle of frequent directions, Emily opted to drive herself.
Lin Beichen quietly fastened his seatbelt in the passenger seat.
"Don’t you trust me?"
"I’ve said last time it was just an accident."
"My driving skills are really good."
"Of course I trust you, or I would’ve jumped out long ago, don’t you think?"
"Fastening the seatbelt is just something to do when bored."
Lin Beichen quickly explained.
But Emily didn’t buy his little trick.
"Hmph."
She huffed coquettishly, deciding not to dwell on it.
Just wanted to prove herself with action.
So this time she drove exceptionally steady without a single wobble.
She didn’t want any more incidents, or she’d be laughed at by Lin Beichen.
Probably wouldn’t dare to drive again in the future.
And so, Lin Beichen sat in Emily’s car, admiring the scenery of Mo City.
He found Mo City to be quite peculiar; though the streets were bustling and buildings were plenty, the streets had very few people.
He asked Emily, "Mo City looks quite bustling, but why is it so deserted?"
"Oh, that."
"It’s all because of the Milo Family."
Lin Beichen, curious, retorted: "How does it relate to the Milo Family again?"
Upon Lin Beichen’s question, Emily didn’t answer immediately but "Ah"ed loudly.
Then in a puffed-up voice said: "Alright, Lin Beichen, are you purposely asking so many questions to distract me while driving and cause incidents like before?"
Lin Beichen side-eyed Emily, thinking she had an overactive imagination.
"It’s not possible, I’m in the car too."
"If anything goes wrong, I’ll suffer too."
Lin Beichen explained, "I’m merely bored in the car."
"Really?" Emily doubted, asking with skepticism.
"Of course, absolutely." Lin Beichen assured, patting his chest.
Emily stopped staring at Lin Beichen and said one final sentence.
"Alright, no more talking, I’m focusing on driving now."
"Don’t get distracted when driving, don’t drive when distracted."
Lin Beichen thought she’s quite "remarkable," amusing himself quietly.
But he immediately suppressed the laughter, or else if he laughed out loud, Emily would claim it makes her distracted from driving.
Then Lin Beichen sat idly in the car, looking around here and there.
Time spent in the car seemed to pass very slow.
Felt as if nearly noon had arrived.
Lin Beichen asked, "Emily, aren’t we there yet?"
"Not yet."
In reality, the Milo Family wasn’t as far as Lin Beichen imagined.
But this time Emily drove too slowly, thus extending the time.
Lin Beichen knew this factor as well, asking if they’re there yet was indirectly hoping Emily would speed up.
"Emily..."
"I told you not to disturb me while driving."
Emily, seemingly aware Lin Beichen was about to rush her, preemptively answered.
Well, I’ll just nap instead.
Lin Beichen felt helpless, but what else could he do?
After all, in Mo City, Emily was the only one he knew, and he had to rely on her to reach his destination.
