[FROLO]

Sergei’s day was going very well since his son left. He had no guilt that burdened him, nothing to worry about. He’d worked through the day like a healed soul with nothing but a brighter view of life.

Honestly, he wanted to spend the day with Katya, but it was a work day, and if there was something he knew about his Solnyshka, it was the fact that Katya didn’t joke about his work.

As much as Sergei was not opposed to his beautiful omega giving him the scolding of a lifetime, he had to respect the day. So, he stayed in his office, glaring at the supplies while counting down the hours before he would go home.

He was looking forward to seeing Katya again, and after the day that the city had woken up to, it was only right that they were in each other’s arms.

Then his phone rang.

Well... the phone Yaroslav had bought him today. He’d said the alpha was still carrying an outdated flip phone that made him way too old to be on the same bandwidth with Katya.

"What the hell does that mean?" Sergei scowled as he looked at both his phones. Sure, he had a flip phone and one that he’d used to video call Anya once, but damn, he didn’t understand the dynamics still.

"You’ll thank me later, father," Yaroslav had said as he set up the new phone for his father. Apparently, that was the kind of thing normal people used these days.

While Sergei didn’t understand what the fuck that meant in the moment, he would understand six hours later.

When Svet sent him a photo of Katya.

His beautiful Katya in the office.

It looked so simple, so perfect, so mundane. And the caption that it came with was even more heartwarming...

"He was busy at work today," Svet had said, skipping the part where Katya had fainted.

Maybe because it wasn’t hers to say, or maybe it was because telling Sergei that Katya had fainted right after Katya kicked them out of the office would have Sergei too worried for Katya.

And her friend wanted a simple, normal life.

One that he didn’t have to worry about everything at the same time.

"He really is a beautiful omega, and mine," Sergei added the last bit possessively.

Svet sent him a second photo.

This time, Katya wasn’t alone in it. He was there with his research partner, Greg. And of course...

"He is working so diligently," Sergei commented, determined to be proper about the fact that there was a man standing beside his Solnyshka.

He could not be jealous.

Katya would be disappointed in him. He had to be reasonable, especially after he had already punched Katya’s supervisor for touching Katya’s waist. He could not have Katya scolding him again.

"His research partner is an alpha. And talks very nicely to him," Svet sent the message, adding a little wink emoji to it.

Sergei got up, began pacing, chanting mantras about how he was a normal person and how he had to respect Katya’s workplace and coworkers. He could not ruin the connection Katya was making with his new research partner.

Sergei was confident in his love for Katya and in Katya’s love for him.

So, he would be normal about this.

Very normal.

"Research usually involves different sub-genders," Sergei said, struggling to be rational. He would not let his self-control wither just because his omega had an alpha coworker, right?

But Svet was definitely the weapon forged against Sergei’s normal day.

And Sergei almost cursed the day for getting this darn new phone. Because Svetlana sent him a new photo hours later.

They were in a club, probably the usual place they hung out on Friday nights. It was a wholesome photo, with Svet, Andre, Katya...

...And Greg.

"Katya opened a tab for us tonight," Svet cheered in the message.

Sergei gripped the phone hard in his hands. It was already dark outside, which could only mean that he had been trying to be rational for over five hours. So much so that he even forgot he was supposed to clock out for work.

But he was a rational alpha, right?

And then Svet posted a video on social media.

Not sent to Sergei.

Posted on the socials.

"Having fun with Romanov tonight!! He’s buying!!" the first story was captioned, and in it was a normal video of Katya and his friends having fun. Sergei could only see his face, not what Katya was wearing or anything.

Greg was seated.

And Sergei breathed.

Then a second one was posted.

"My best friend is the most beautiful omega in the city!!" Svetlana captioned.

Of course, there was nothing to be so concerned about. Sergei loved that they were having fun. Until, for two seconds, the camera turned to Katya, almost like an accident.

He was not supposed to see it; that much was obvious because of the way the camera was refocused.

But Sergei had seen it.

His omega.

His beautiful Katya.

Katya wore a sleeveless black mesh top, a silver crystal choker resting against his collarbone. His long blonde hair fell freely over an oversized ivory fur coat that draped across his shoulders.

Below his waist were tailored black micro shorts. And on his legs, thigh-high black princess boots that lined up with delicate buttons completed his fit.

Sergei couldn’t breathe.

He didn’t know whether to stay in his office or raid the party. He had been so reasonable the entire day, but fuck if that didn’t make it any worse for him.

As if he hadn’t already hit his limit of patience, Svetlana posted another video of Katya dancing with them, and Greg was in the mix too. Smiling as Katya danced the night away freely, like a bird that had finally learned to use his wings properly.

Gods be damned, Sergei was losing his mind.

He wanted to go. Just to see. He was a perfectly normal alpha who happened to be curious. That was all, right?

So, he dialed Andre.

Not Svetlana.

Andre.

"Wassup, Moskowsky, call to ask how my broken thumb is doing?" Andre asked, reminding Sergei of how intense Rastenkin’s sessions were earlier today.

"Where are you?" Sergei asked, and Andre seemed to pause for a moment before he just laughed.

"Having more fun than you, definitely. Wanna come join us? We are in Club Xperior. We’re having the time of our lives. Just so you know, your omega is very, very beautiful tonight.

"We had to bribe him with three days of peace if he changed from his boring work clothes to his—" Andre rambled, and Svet grabbed the phone off his ear.

"Goodnight, Moskowsky. We’re having fun. You’re not allowed to ruin it!" Svet said before hanging up.

And Sergei called again.

The first time.

The second.

All the phones went to voicemail.

He even tried Katya’s phone, and it was not getting through, which he could only assume was Svetlana’s doing because the woman had probably been doing that on purpose. Goodness, Sergei was losing his mind.

And so, like a normal Frolo citizen, Sergei Moskowsky stepped out of his office and headed to Xperior.

He was going to have fun too, right?

He was absolutely not going to ruin the night for Katya.

But fuck, he was feeling a lot of things right now.

Well, by the time he got there, they were taking a break from all the dancing Svetlana had been posting, even though her phone had been inaccessible. Sergei didn’t really understand modern tech at all.

But what caught his eye even more was a laughing Katya.

He was laughing... with Greg.

The coworker alpha.

Oblivious to the predator who had just walked in in a black suit and who people had stepped aside to let in.

And if Katya felt Sergei’s presence, he paid it no attention. After all, to the public, they were just Mr. Moskowsky and Chairman Romanov. Even if there were already speculations after Sergei’s rut that they had been together through it all.

No one had proof, and Katya was not trying to be pulled into gossip again.

Not that his outfit was doing him any favors right now.

"Why hello, Mr. Moskowsky. Didn’t know you came to these sides of the city too," Andre greeted amusedly, while Katya just stared in courtesy.

It was almost hilarious how he tried to remain steady under Sergei’s gaze, but fuck if he didn’t want to jump his alpha right now.

"I see you’re having a fun night, chairman. Hope you don’t mind me joining you," Sergei said.

"The more the merrier," Katya said, blushing under the neon lights.

"He’s so damn beautiful tonight, right?" a drunk Greg slurred.

"I wish he’d look at me," he added, resting his head on the table.

Svet quietly stood to refill their drinks.

Andre suddenly remembered he needed the washroom.

Katya’s eyes didn’t leave Sergei’s face.

And Sergei...
