Chapter 1460: Chapter 9-7: Now_3
A few Chuckna Mechanic Soldiers covered in grease were busy repairing Mecha. Next to them, inside an unfolded Cooking Mecha, more than a dozen sweating Cook Soldiers were making lunch. A small patrol squad of soldiers walked past the edge of the trench. A soldier in the trench stuck out half his head, saying something to the patrol leader.
The farther you looked, the more Chuckna Soldiers there were. These soldiers in filthy uniforms whose original colors were impossible to tell sat around together; some were holding meetings, some were dozing, some were maintaining their guns, and some were just staring into space out of sheer boredom.
When they saw the bandit army, most people here turned their eyes over. Their gazes were full of curiosity.
"General, this way please." A waiting Colonel Chuckna turned sideways and made a gesture.
Robert and Stewart followed behind this Lieutenant Colonel and the Sentry at his side, heading toward the trench. Just as they reached the edge, they saw several officers climbing up the gentle slope on one side of the trench.
"General Robert!" The Chuckna Major General walking in front reached out his hand: "I’m Benarlio, division commander of Chuckna 202 Armored Division. Welcome to this Devil of a region."
"Hello." Robert extended his hand and gripped Benarlio’s firmly, smiling as he said, "I trust Headquarters has already told you why we’re here."
"Honestly, it’s not a great idea." The cheerful Benarlio shook hands with Stewart as well, then introduced Pang Bei, division commander of the First Division, Sixth Army, Eighteenth Army Group of Chuckna. He lifted his cap to scratch his sandy-brown short hair, shrugged, and said, "The Jiepeng 1912 Division opposite us is not that easy to deal with."
"Oh?" Robert and Stewart exchanged a glance. "Care to tell us more?"
"They’re a bunch of well-equipped bastards." Benarlio showed not a shred of first-meeting restraint, cursing as he spoke: "They’ve got a shitload of Jiepeng Ninth Generation Spirit Cat Mecha, plus a few Advanced Mecha Warriors piloting Tenth Generation ’Anubis’ Mecha. You used to barely see that kind of Mecha, but this time Jiepeng’s reinforcements brought tons of them. I’m guessing their dog-fucked Emperor dug up all his coffin money to build Mecha... Want a smoke?"
Benarlio’s blunt, fast talk quickly won Robert and Stewart over. After taking the cigarette Benarlio handed him, Robert asked, "How’s their combat strength? I heard you’ve been tangling with them for quite a while."
"We got burned a bit when we ran into them early on. Back then our logistics couldn’t keep up," Benarlio said. "Later, when our second batch of reinforcements came up and we opened the interstellar channel, supplies finally got topped off, but the bastards on the other side reinforced too. Now we’re stuck in a stalemate with them here, trading blows every day. This place doesn’t really count as a strategic point—it’s all about covering our own flanks, and they’re not attacking all that hard."
As he spoke, Benarlio reached over, took a file from a staff officer beside him, and handed it to Robert: "We’ve been fighting them off and on for almost a month. Their casualty rate is around thirty percent. But according to our Reconnaissance Soldiers’ intel, they’ve brought in fresh units again. Should be two Armored Groups from the Jiepeng 1953 Division."
Robert flipped through the file. The electronic folder recorded detailed intel, including the enemy’s garrison area, their usual movement patterns, habitual tactics in battle, plus their alert perimeter, identified fire suppression points from each engagement, strength of electronic attacks, and so on.
"Can I get a copy of this?" Robert raised the electronic folder in his hand.
"Of course." Benarlio nodded. Then, somewhat uncertain, he asked, "You really plan to hit them?"
"Yeah." Robert gave a faint smile.
"When?" Benarlio’s eyes widened, his gaze sliding past Robert’s shoulder to the Bandit Army Mecha massing in the distance.
Robert checked the time and said coolly, "Now."

. I finished writing and then added up all the words I tossed behind as scrap—it’s close to eight thousand. I really did try hard. How about a few monthly tickets to keep me moisturized?
