"So... Is this how they build up their strength?" Kreyn whispered, glancing around.

This wasn’t the only chamber. To the right and left were similar passages bathed in a dense green light.

"It looks that way. We still don’t know where the ore deposit where they mined all of this is, but it’s somewhere nearby, maybe even right beneath us."

"Hmm..." Kreyn hummed. "Even looking from here, there are at least seven crystals, and each one powers a dozen monsters. That’s... There might be more than a hundred Rahta Beasts here."

Leora nodded. She came to the same conclusion.

"We can’t handle that many. And..." She narrowed her eyes. "I don’t see a single black one here. But they must be hiding somewhere, right?"

"Well, unless something even more dangerous is waiting for us here. What’s the plan?"

Leora took a few moments to think before her nod.

"We take a crystal and head back. If this really is 99% Orazit, then we’ll gather our forces and clear out this cave, then the other chambers, until all the ore here is ours."

"No."

"Hmm?" Leora raised an eyebrow. She didn’t expect his sharp reply.

Kreyn pointed at the floating crystals.

"We need at least two. One for you and one for me."

Clutch.

Leora clenched her fists.

"You’ve decided to make demands at a time like this? It would be safer to take one crystal and then come back better prepared."

"Yeah, that’s a good option - for you. You’re going to take that one crystal, aren’t you?"

Leora didn’t answer. She just gave him a long, steady stare.

"I figured as much. Besides, what’s the problem? There are two of us, each of us takes a crystal, and then we run as fast as we can. I don’t think it’s that complicated."

"Fine." Leora agreed, gritting her teeth. "Let’s be careful. The last thing we need is to wake them up again. We’ll take the crystals at the same time, on my signal."

Kreyn shrugged.

"Whatever you say, boss."

Leora snorted but stepped forward.

Walking quietly among dozens of sleeping monsters wasn’t something they’d been taught at any Hunter Hub, but here, no special skill was needed, basic caution was enough.

Step. Step. Step.

Step by step, Kreyn and Leora moved parallel to the two crystals ahead.

They passed by the snorting Rahta Beasts, who had no idea how close the humans were.

Kreyn and Leora stopped in front of the quivering crystals, essentially standing right between the Rahta Beasts, but as long as they didn’t touch them, everything should be fine.

At a gesture from Leora, she reached out her hand, preparing to take the crystal.

Numerous veins were connected to the crystal, so its loss could not go unnoticed. As soon as they broke the crystal away from the main vein, the entire group would awaken, and perhaps the others as well.

Clutch.

Leora grabbed the crystal as she turned to Kreyn - a rare smile appeared on her face.

Kreyn was about to smile back when suddenly Leora’s face contorted.

With a whistle of wind, the blue fist slammed into her, first in her shoulder and then in her head, causing her skin to ripple in waves from the impact.

Crack.

The blow sent Leora flying to the side as she crashed into the floor, rolling like a puppet until she came to a stop.

"KHAAAA!"

A stream of blood gushed from Leora’s mouth as blood flooded the right side of her face. Still, she was alive, but she was unlikely to survive another strike like that.

Kreyn glanced at her before turning his gaze forward.

Next to the group of Rahta Beasts, another monster now stood. Its skin was blue, covering chest muscles quivering with tension. Unlike the Worker or Hunter, this one stood on two legs with a straight back like a human, and its arms were clenched tightly into massive fists.

Still, the monster’s nature was evident from its size and height - it stood three meters tall, and its head resembled that of a bull, only without horns and with three blue eyes arranged in a triangle.

"Brha..." The blue beast exhaled hot steam through its nostrils as its eyes fell on Leora.

Only then did Kreyn and Leora realize that the green crystal was in her hands. At the last moment before the blow, her reflexes kicked in, and she tore the crystal off.

That could mean only one thing.

"Shit," Kreyn gasped as, one after another, the Rahta Beasts began to open their eyes and awaken from their slumber.

Leora and Kreyn exchanged glances as panic spread across her face.

"RUN!" she screamed at the top of her lungs and charged toward the passageway.

Without hesitation, Kreyn grabbed his crystal and rushed forward after Leora.

The twenty Rahta Beasts were a major threat, but at that moment Leora and Kreyn paid no attention to them, as they were focused solely on the blue one.

’So the Workers are something like regular soldiers, the Rahta Hunters defend and patrol the area, but... who are you, then?’

"Grho..."

Suddenly, the blue beast took a deep breath before beginning to beat its chest frantically, as if in a battle cry.

The muscles beneath its thick skin trembled as the blue beast surged forward, shaking the ground with every step.

"Don’t stop!" Leora exclaimed. "We’re faster! We’ll make it to the chasm, after that, the explosives will do the rest."

However, Kreyn didn’t hear her. His torso was racing forward, but his head was turned backward.

’There are more than enough of them here, but... If we just run away, I’ll have to wait for the next raid. Hmm... Gukard’s men had plenty of explosives, enough for everyone.’

Tremble.

Kreyn’s boots trembled as his pace slowed.

Leora realized what he was about to do in a heartbeat.

"No! Stop! Just keep running!"

Kreyn ignored her as he spun around.

The blue beast was already behind him. A few more steps and the fist that almost broke Leora in two would come crashing down on him.

A regular stomp might not be enough to take them all out - Kreyn knew that.

’A single stomp probably won’t knock this big guy off his feet, but what about this?’

Instead of lifting one foot, Kreyn jumped high into the air while his boots shook violently.

Leora’s eyes widened as she watched Kreyn’s boots slam into the ground, releasing their accumulated energy.

TREMBLE!

A shockwave like an explosion radiated from Kreyn, making no distinction between allies and enemies. Leora instinctively jumped up. The Rahta Beasts collapsed to the ground, and the blue giant lost his balance.

A massive fist swept over Kreyn’s shoulder as the blue beast collapsed to one knee.

"Good luck." Kreyn’s voice was full of mockery as he ran off with renewed speed.

A few moments later, the Rahta Beasts regained their composure and gave chase, but Leora and Kreyn were already close to the chasm.

Four ropes were there: Gukard hadn’t let them down.

Fighting for their lives, Kreyn and Leora pushed off the wall with their feet, quickly climbing up the chasm while more and more Rahta Beasts scrambled onto the bridges.

Crackle.

Leora grabbed the edge as her head popped up and she looked around urgently.

"All of you, run! GUKARD - light the dynamite!"

Gukard spun around abruptly.

"Run!"

The next moment, the dynamite fuse was lit as Kreyn and Leora ran for their lives, while the Rahta Beasts crawled out of the chasm.

"NOW!" Leora exclaimed as they rushed through the breach and leaped forward.

At the same moment, a spark reached the dynamite as the first Rahta Beast froze, staring at the cascade of sparks.

BLAST!

A devastating explosion rang out as a wave of flame engulfed the Rahta Beasts and swept through the chasm, filling every tunnel with a powerful torrent of fire.

The mine shook as debris crashed down, sealing the breach along with the last remnants of fire.

"F-Fuck..." Kreyn sighed deeply, leaning against the rock.

But as soon as he looked down, a satisfied smile spread across his face.

He got pure Orazit.
