Yi Tianyun lifted his foot and stepped behind the Five Elements Core. Previously, this would have been impossible, approaching it would have instantly shattered his soul from the sheer violent power, and if not dead, he’d have been reduced to a fool.
Now that he had merged with it, he could finally pass through the Five Elements Core to its rear. The moment he entered the area beyond, the sensation intensified.
Waves of light and darkness flowed ceaselessly from ahead. As he approached, an overwhelming pressure surged toward him, making each step feel heavier, as though advancing was nearly impossible.
“This… I really can’t go in…”
Yi Tianyun frowned. He had hoped to complete both trials in one go, but now it was clear that had been far too optimistic. The pressure radiating from ahead was terrifying, even the surface of his skin felt like it was disintegrating.
If he pushed forward any further, there was no doubt his soul would be annihilated. The forces ahead were too powerful for his current level.
“Ding! Special mission accepted: ‘Complete either the Light Trial or the Dark Trial.’ Reward: Title – ‘Master of the Heaven World’ or ‘Master of the Ghost World.'”
The reward structure remained the same, no additional bonuses, not even a bit of experience.
“So it splits into two missions… looks like I’ll have to complete both to truly become this world’s master.”
Yi Tianyun wasn’t surprised. It had been made clear that even after absorbing the Five Elements Core, he was only the Master of the Mortal World. That implied the existence of other titles, Master of the Heaven World, and Master of the Ghost World.
Which meant two more trials.
But for now, those trials were out of reach. He would need to raise his cultivation before attempting them. At present, he had to back off.
“That’s enough for now. Time to leave.”
Without lingering, Yi Tianyun stepped into the special teleportation array and vanished from the area. His soul returned to his body, everything was intact.
“Back in my body at last. Nothing feels better than this.”
He stretched his body and cracked his joints. Though it seemed like his soul had left, it had remained linked to his body the entire time, never truly separated.
Still, he had the sense that the place he’d just come from could be physically entered as well, but for now, he lacked the qualifications to do so.
In a flash, he reappeared inside his palace. Shi Xueyun was there handling affairs. When she saw him, her beautiful eyes filled with mild reproach.
“So you finally decided to come back? This was the longest you’ve ever been away.”
He had been gone for over fifty years, something that had never happened before.
“I got a bit carried away with closed-door cultivation. Sorry.” Yi Tianyun smiled as he walked over. Shi Xueyun was just teasing, she wasn’t truly upset.
As long as he returned safely, she was content. For cultivators of their level, fifty years was like five days, barely anything.
“Forget it. The Three Realms God Territory is rising steadily. Most cultivators have made great breakthroughs. We now have over thirty with Earth Monarch-level cultivation. As for Sky Monarchs, more than ten. Star Monarchs..”
Yi Tianyun nodded. As expected, growth had been explosive. The overall strength now rivaled that of a second-grade God Territory, achieved in just fifty years.
Of course, there was still a gap before matching high-level second-grade God Territories. But with Yi Tianyun, a being who rivaled a Heavenly Venerable, on their side, they already surpassed most of them.
The only real difference was that second-grade territories often had third-grade ones backing them. In theory, that still put them at a disadvantage.
“Seems like our overall breakthrough is quite good?” Yi Tianyun’s eyes lit up. “At this rate, our strength will soon match a second-grade God Territory.”
“Exactly! Our resources are abundant, and everyone has been diligently cultivating in response to your call. The results exceeded expectations, everyone’s progressing rapidly.” Shi Xueyun was excited too. Watching her sect grow stronger filled her with confidence and pride.
“Excellent. Then I’ll continue refining pills to accelerate things.” Yi Tianyun nodded. Most preparations were now in place, only the God Territory War remained.
Shi Xueyun nodded and returned to her tasks.
Yi Tianyun, too, dove into alchemy. Though the Three Realms had alchemists, their pace was limited, and with so many cultivators, demand far outpaced supply.
Otherwise, Yi Tianyun wouldn’t need to spend time refining pills himself.
Time passed quickly as he threw himself into nonstop pill-making. Meanwhile, the other God Territories went silent, no contact, just quiet preparation.
The war between God Territories was only a few decades away. Tension was building fast. Whether they’d be affected or not, preparations were essential.
News from various sources confirmed this: all God Territories were making ready. Even their allied factions sent envoys to coordinate.
The message was simple: when the war broke out, they hoped for mutual support. If things turned dire, they just wanted a place to hide.
They didn’t ask for help resisting, no one expected to hold back a third-grade God Territory. Their only hope was shelter.
“The tension keeps rising… I should head to the Heavenly Spring God Territory and inform Sister Liuli of the situation.”
Yi Tianyun had promised Domain Lord Liuli not to join a third-grade God Territory. He wasn’t breaking that promise, he was entering the war directly!
The two weren’t the same. She never imagined Yi Tianyun would join the God Territory War, only that he wouldn’t side with a third-grade faction.
After finishing a batch of pills and leaving instructions, he set out for the Heavenly Spring God Territory to meet with Domain Lord Liuli.
That territory, too, had entered full defensive mode. Most disciples had returned, none were permitted to travel.
“Domain Lord Tianyun, you’re finally back! We’ve been looking for you. Lord Liuli instructed that all elders and disciples return.” Elder Gou Huang sighed in relief upon seeing him.
“Where’s Domain Lord Liuli? I have something important to discuss with her.” Yi Tianyun asked directly.
“Something important? You’re just in time, we’re about to hold a strategy meeting. You should attend as well.”
Elder Gou Huang assumed Yi Tianyun had simply returned from training. He had no idea what Yi Tianyun had just been through.
“A meeting, huh?” Yi Tianyun’s eyes lit up. This might be just the opportunity he needed.
