Knowing that the divine sense he had left within the four was about to be noticed by the old remnant soul, Xuan Hao decided to disperse it on his own before it was discovered. Knowing it wouldn’t make much of a difference even if he attempted to hide his divine sense. If anything, it ran the risk of him being targeted by the old remnant soul, something he didn’t want to happen given how he didn’t know for sure whether the formations within the small tower could launch an attack outside the small tower.
In any case, to be on the safe side, he decided not to run the risk and instead shift his attention back in the direction of a hallway leading into the deeper parts of the palace complex that he had yet to explore. Viewing his guidance of those four towards this inheritance site belonging to the old remnant soul as his repayment for having made use of them. Their future success was now entirely in their own hands, and he doubted he would have a chance to see them again before he ended up leaving this floor of the tower.
The only real chance at seeing the group of four was if someone decided to barge in while they were in the process of being taught by the old remnant soul, something that was indeed possible if those senior figures from the fragmented continent that had reached the Void God Realm showed up, though, by the time these terrifying figures began emerging, Xuan Hao hoped he would have longs since left the ancient city center.
Not just because he knew he likely wouldn’t stand much of a chance against those senior figures, but also because he realized there was a very real chance that those ancient figures knew about the past of the fragmented continent and might end up associating him with the people that had ultimately doomed their world and ended up pushing it into its current state of slow but inevitable decline that even these figures comparable to the Venerable Realm was helpless in the face of.
Speak of which, there was also a real chance that those Void Integration Ream cultivators realized just how different he was if he ended up fighting them... And there would inevitably also be a few well-informed ones among them that would also know about this past of their world. Potentially resulting in them directly sending his information back to those senior figures. Ensuring they would show up sooner than he originally anticipated thanks to the information he had gathered so far that generally gave anywhere between two weeks to a month before those seniors at the Void God Realm learnt about the situation and rushed over.
As for why he anticipated an encounter with others even after he had made it to the palace complex located at the very heart of the ancient city center, a place far more difficult to reach compared to carving a new path into what should be the outer edge of the ancient city center... That had to do with the city lord of Desolate River City.
From what he guessed, the city lord should potentially already have some kind of path that led directly into the ancient city center where the palace complex was located and from the information, he had learnt through the chatter of the five- now four youths, he understood that the city lord also knew about the path he had created and had seemingly vanished into thin air according to them.
Not much else was available on the old city lord of Desolate River City, but one thing was for certain, he wasn’t the only one who had seemingly vanished into thin air all of a sudden, as the other Void Integration Realm cultivators that had once been easy to find while they moved between the ancient city center and Desolate River City, had disappeared as well.
Although the locals like the youths had no idea where these Void Integration Realm cultivators had gone and were merely speculating that they had found some kind of precious treasure ground that they were all secretly fighting for and had no time to show up, Xuan Hao understood that there was a good chance these other Void Integration Realm cultivators had realized the city lord had another path after putting two and two together and would have then chased after him.
Something that would ultimately end up with them finding themselves inside the palace complex he now found himself inside of. Meaning there was a good chance he would start running into them as he got closer to the core of this palace complex where the past ruler of what was now Desolate River City had once lived.
Unsurprisingly, the main palace of this massive palace complex would no doubt be the place where everyone ended up gathering in search of the inheritance and other things that had been left behind.
The problem Xuan Hao found himself in after the encounter with the old remnant soul of what should have once been a genius alchemist standing at the very top of his field, was the simple fact that there was a very good chance that he wouldn’t be able to touch the different inheritances that had been left behind by the past ruler of the city.
Knowing that if the old remnant soul had safety measures in place to guard his own inheritance, the one located at the very heart of this palace complex would undoubtedly have a similar level of prudence when dealing with potential inheritors.
In other words, he had no ability to claim the inheritance of this ancient city center no matter how hard he tried, as the safety mechanism put in place on those inheritances in the past made sure to guard against any outsiders attempting to claim their inheritance and fighting those inheritance grounds wasn’t much of an option with his current strength. Heck, even if he reached the Star Creation Realm, he felt doubtful he would be able to forcibly seize one of those inheritances. Especially if the main formation covering the entirety of the ancient city center got involved.
Even with this, he didn’t plan on giving up on his original intention to reach the center of what now turned out to be a far more dangerous palace complex that still had some remnants of those who had once created it in the ancient past before the continent it existed on had ended up in its current fragmented state.
Not to mention the insights into different Daos like the Dao of Space he might be able to find throughout this ancient palace complex located at the heart of the ancient city center, he also felt a growing sense of interest towards the war that had ultimately ended up destroying the world that the fragmented continent had once been a part of. After all, from what that old remnant soul had conveyed to the four youths, it had also been related to the Dao of Corruption that had ultimately also plunged his world into a visible decline.
From what he had learnt so far about the past of his own world, it was difficult for him to get a clear picture of what exactly had happened and he had only really managed to learn a bit about the faction that had been behind the ancient phoenix whose feathers he had been gathered and fused with to some extent over the years.
As for what happened after the fall of the faction that this phoenix had been in control over? He had no clue, let alone the conclusion of the battle that ended up taking place against the different strange beings brought to life through the Dao of Corruption.
After all, even if the enemy that had threatened the destruction of his world in the past had been taken down, the spread of the Dao of Corruption should still have been a problem, one he hadn’t really had the chance to experience himself on the Ewaria Continent outside of a few special circumstance.
What he hoped to learn outside of the different insights that had undoubtedly been recorded throughout this ancient palace complex in the past by those who once called this place home, was about the beings born through the Dao of Corruption- or more accurately, how the world that the fragmented continent had once been a part of had ultimately ended up falling into its current state along with the simple fact that those beings related to the Dao of Corruption existed nowhere within this dead land. Meaning the ancestors who should have ejected this fragmented continent from the original world had at the same time also purged those remnants of the Dao of Corruption that should have seeped into every corner of their world by the time they made the desperate last resort to eject part of their world from the dying husk that was their home world.
