Putting aside the thoughts of the essence of his own world somehow having changed since the church of the plague god invaded the original world of the fragmented continent, Xuan Hao decided to just feel happy that he had managed to successfully make it through the examination of the formation guarding the main palace of the palace complex. After all, passing the little examination meant that he would now be able to enter the main palace itself where the most precious information and the inheritance of this entire ancient city should be located.

Even if there was a very good chance that he would soon enough find himself running into the city lord of Desolate River City along with the other Void Integration Realm cultivators that should have chased after him in a bid to also try and obtain the inheritance within the ancient city, he felt confident in being able to contend with them as long as someone at the Void God Realm didn’t show up.

Whoosh~

Drawing the divine sense used to create the divine sense clone back into his body without dispersing it given how it would take far too long to recover that much divine sense and there wasn’t any real reason to disperse so much of his divine sense when he could just draw it back, Xuan Hao slowly began making his way into the towering palace at the core of the palace complex. Feeling a sense of growing anticipation upon feeling the countless complex spatial fluctuations around the entrance to the main palace itself.

Even without being able to see entirely through those spatial fluctuations, his comprehension of the Dao of Space was at the very least high enough to see through some of them and made him understand that most of these spatial fluctuations were related to spatial expansion. Meaning that the space inside the main palace was undoubtedly far larger than it looked on the outside.

Of course, amazing as this kind of spatial expansion might be, Xuan Hao was far more interested in the countless spatial fluctuations he couldn’t understand, as observing those spatial fluctuations were of immense importance to his own comprehension of the Dao of Space.

Even without comprehending them, he could already sense that the bottleneck separating him from the Origin Realm had already loosened significantly and all he needed was to undergo a quiet retreat to solidify his understanding of the Dao of Space to breakthrough the bottleneck and successfully step into the Origin Realm, something that in turn would also allow him to step into the Peak of the Land Creation Realm. Allowing him to start setting his sights on breaking through to the Star Creation Realm.

With that in mind, even if he ended up gaining nothing and perished within the main palace of the palace complex and was sent all the way back down to the ground floor of the ascension realm tower, he wouldn’t be the slightest bit sad. Knowing that he had already gained immensely as a clear path to reaching the Peak of the Land Creation Realm had already presented itself before him. All he needed to do was find somewhere to enter secluded cultivation for a few weeks to consolidate his gains and officially breakthrough.

Then again, if he could gain something from the main palace, he wouldn’t refuse. After all, just the spatial fluctuations around the entrance to the main palace had been enough to help push his comprehension of the Dao of Space through the final bottleneck that now only needed him to consolidate his comprehension.

Whatever the inheritance itself contained would undoubtedly be of immense use to him and might even be able to push his comprehension of the Dao of Space even further in the future, an opportunity he had no intention of giving up on. After all, if the inheritance was left behind by the one that had once been the ruler of this ancient city, it meant that it was an inheritance left behind by someone who had surpassed the ordinary Venerable Realm and reached a level that might even have been comparable to the ancient holy lord level.

Even if not truly at that level, the inheritance of such an individual would be of immense value not only to himself but also the Star Shattering Sect as a whole given the information on the realms beyond the Profound Immortal Realm would help elevate the Star Shattering Sect even if this information wasn’t on the traditional immortal cultivation path. After all, he had a feeling that there wouldn’t be that much difference between different cultivation paths the higher one’s realm became and information on this unique cultivation path’s Venerable Realm equivalent would be of immense research value even if it could not be cultivated.

Whoosh~

Thinking about this as he finally stepped through the invisible boundary that separated the towering palace from the rest of the palace complex, Xuan Hao found his vision blurring for a few seconds before he found himself standing before a towering hallway whose size alone far outstripped the towering palace he should have just entered. The ceiling alone stretching tens of thousands of meters into the sky, while the width was equally massive. Making it look like the hallway had been created not for humans nor the different local species found on the fragmented continent, but instead some kind of ancient race of giants.

The disparity in size made him feel miniscule in comparison to his surroundings, though that might have been the intention of the creator, as even someone at the Land Creation Realm like himself felt a sense of profound awe faced with this kind of immense hallway that seemed completely out of place compared to the original size of the main palace he had seen.

At the same time, the hallway itself also gave him a good idea about the personality of the one behind this main palace, as this kind of hallway entirely designed to inspire awe gave him an inkling that the lord of this place was undoubtedly someone confident in his or her strength, something entirely justifiable given how the ruler of this place should have been someone whose strength was once at the pinnacle of their world with even Venerable Realm level cultivators below them.

The inheritance of such a powerful being... Xuan Hao could not help feeling himself looking forward to seeing it, though he also understood this kind of figure wouldn’t just give up their inheritance to anyone. The city lord of Desolate River City should be one such example, as he should have already been attempting to get his hands on this inheritance for weeks if not months and had still not succeeded.

Not to mention, if the Venerable level cultivators that had once been part of this ancient faction had managed to stay around to this day in the form of remnant souls, the lord and ruler of this once powerful faction whose strength surpassed those Venerable level cultivators shouldn’t have perished either.

Injured or not, this kind of being would undoubtedly be incredibly difficult to truly kill off and might even be looking for an opportunity to fully recover their strength. In fact, the entire separation of the fragmented continent from the original world along with the sealing of the ancient city center was something that had been done by this powerful ruler and undoubtedly carried some hidden intentions.

If anything, the entire thing might have been done by this powerful being to recover his or her strength relying on the long passage of time to slowly recover. Sealing off the ancient city along with the palace complex to prevent any unexpected situations that might disturb the recovery process.

But if he thought along this line of thought, it also meant the emergence of the ancient city center might not have anything to do with the formation keeping the place hidden over the years weakening to the point where it had become unstable and couldn’t remain hidden any longer. Instead, it might very well be that the ancient lord of this place had finished recovering and was starting to slowly awaken.

In that case, the opening of the ancient city could either be seen as a way to lure over powerful cultivators across the fragmented continent to devour them and push through the final hurdle in fully recovering or it could be seen as a way to gather the countless powerful forces to quickly start rebuilding.

No matter which of these two it was, it would mean that there wasn’t any inheritance for him to obtain and he would just be walking into the carefully laid out plan of some ancient fossil reemerging to assert his or her dominance on the world once again before starting the arduous process of rebuilding what was lost with the fall of the original world to the beings of the Dao of Corruption.

Hopefully, things would not turn out like that and the ancient being within this place wasn’t about to reemerge...
