Staring up at the brand-new path that had revealed itself thanks to skeleton launching the two seniors into the ceiling, it didn’t take long for Xuan Hao to start poking at the walls of the hall beside him. Finding out almost immediately that the wall wasn’t impenetrable like the hallway he had just moved through. If anything, it was rather simple to pierce through with his current strength. Meaning it wouldn’t be difficult for him to follow in the footsteps of the two seniors who had already left. Escaping from the massive hall with the skeleton in it.
Although this would mean he had to give up on finding out what might be hidden following the small hallway that had appeared on the other side that the skeleton was now seemingly guarding, it would at least mean he wouldn’t have to leave the twenty ninth floor of the tower anytime soon and would have a bit longer to explore it before the inevitable happened when the truly powerful figures at the Void God Realm began showing up. After all, though the defensive measures of the ancient city center might be powerful, he doubted it would be able to last long when those powerful senior figures of the fragmented continent began showing up.
At the end of the day, though they might not be comparable to the ancient figures whose strength had reached a similar level in the past, their numbers alone was nothing to scoff at, as just the number of safe spaces isolated from the void on the part of the fragmented continent, he found himself on, there were over a hundred. Meaning there should at the very least be a hundred figures at the Void God Realm if there truly was at least one such figure from every divine land isolated from the void.
Strong as those remnant souls and the potentially still alive ruler of this ancient city center and palace complex was, he found it difficult to imagine anything resisting that many powerful figures showing up.
But then again, it might also just be because of his lack of knowledge regarding the realms that came after the Profound Immortal Realm, as for all he knew, the potentially still alive ruler of this ancient city center might have the strength to easily deal with a hundred or so figures at the Void God Realm.
No matter what the actual situation turned out to be, he wouldn’t be able to escape when a clash at that level took place... And currently trapped inside the ancient city center, he wouldn’t really have much of a choice when it came to participating in the battle that was likely to break out as he would find himself at the very center of said battle.
Lost in thought for a few seconds thinking about whether to follow behind the two who had already escaped or look for an opportunity to try and rush past the skeleton, Xuan Hao’s gaze slowly found itself drifting towards the group of weaker Void Integration Realm cultivators in the distance. Noticing that they too had realized that the surrounding walls were destructible.
However, different from how he had been able to destroy them with relative ease, this group of weaker cultivators at the Early to Middle Stage of the Void Integration Realm found themselves unable to do any real damage to the wall of the hall in a short period of time and instead looked like they would at the very least need a quarter of an hour to successfully dig a path through the wall.
"..."
To be honest, this was an unexpected turn of events to Xuan Hao, as he hadn’t felt the walls that made up the massive hall being anywhere near that difficult to break through when had attempted to force his way through it less than a second earlier. If anything, it made him think he might have accidentally found some weak spot where it was easy to pierce through the wall and dig out a path to what was essentially an empty void outside.
Only after observing what was happening a bit more closely, did he realize that the suppression on the surrounding space hadn’t just limited the movement of these Void Integration Realm cultivators severely but had also ended up lowering their combat strength to the point where they could barely be considered comparable to someone in the Dao Seed Realm in terms of strength.
Not weak by any means but compared to their normal strength beforehand that had been comparable to someone in the Land Creation Realm of the Profound Immortal Realm, it was abysmal. The reason he hadn’t realized this earlier having to do with the fact that the city lord and the Peak Void Integration Realm cultivator had been strong enough to forcibly resist this suppression and had at the very least been able to maintain their combat strength when facing off against the skeleton, something this group of weaker Void Integration Realm cultivators had been unable to accomplish.
Rumble~
And as if to make the situation of the group of weaker Void Integration Realm cultivators even worse than it had already been upon finding out it would take them close to a quarter of an hour to dig themselves through the thick walls of the hall, they found themselves trapped inside of, the towering skeleton that had its gazed focused on the large hole in the ceiling shifted its attention towards them.
"It- Its coming!"
"I can see that! Did anyone figure out what their artifacts do? If so, I hope at least one can summon a shield of some kind..."
"What about you? Anything useful inside that giant interspatial ring?"
"I wish... I can’t access it and need to carefully refine it to gain access, something that will at least take a few years given the still active seal on it that has to be worn down first."
"Great..."
Also noticing the large skeleton slowly starting to make its way towards them, the group of weaker Void Integration Realm cultivators began visibly panicking looking towards the terrifying skeleton that had easily slapped around two people, one at the Late Stage and the other the Peak Stage of the Void Integration Realm, seconds earlier.
The panicked scramble soon enough resulting in one of the Void Integration Realm cultivators at the early stage of the realm being pushed out by the rest holding what looked like a large ornamental belt far large than himself, the artifact he had picked off the skeleton before it had awakened.
"Oh, great belt, please do something useful..." Muttering this to himself as he knew there was no going back, the cultivator at the Early Stage of the Void Integration Realm slowly raised the belt into the air with great difficultly before infusing his own spiritual qi into the giant belt to activate it. Feeling as his dantian drained at a visible speed before running out a second later, as the giant belt didn’t stop draining him. Starting to tap into his lifeforce and in turn, lifespan.
"Wha-!?" Panicked to the extreme as he felt his own life starting to drain away, the belt holder quickly pulled out all sorts of spiritual crystals and objects and used them to force the belt to stop draining away his life and instead focus on the different spiritual objects and stones he pulled out, something that took him a grand total of two seconds to accomplish.
Short as this might be, it still ended up costing him over two hundred thousand years of life. Leaving him deeply horrified, faced with the belt that didn’t seem to show any signs of stopping. "Help me! I need spiritual objects or spirit stones! Quick!" Calling out to those behind him in a panic for help knowing that his own resources wouldn’t be able to keep up with the absorption speed of the great belt for long... And luckily for him, those behind him understood that there was no other way out of their current situation and willingly threw out all kinds of spiritual objects and precious spirit stones to feed the great belt.
All of them aware that there was a good chance they would end up targeted by the demonic belt after it finished draining the one currently holding it up into the air to face off against the approaching skeleton.
The entire situation looking rather comical to Xuan Hao watching everything play out from afar, as it looked like the group of people were all panicking greatly in the face of a seemingly ordinary but large belt and threw everything of value on them over towards the belt that had been lifted up into the air.
Almost looking like a group of faithful descendants sacrificing their belongings to their accentor. An ancestor in the shape of a giant belt that had started glowing ever so slightly with the countless treasures being thrown towards it by this group of faithful descendants who held nothing back.
