On the grass, the clash of blades rang out without end.

Riveria admired the boy's brilliant sword dance, affection stirring in her emerald eyes.

As a Level 3 adventurer, Bell Cranel should have been the one doing the challenging. Instead, he had easily taken control of the battle and was teaching the members of the Loki Familia without holding anything back.

Alicia was a gentle woman. She only became irritable and flustered when matters involving Riveria were concerned.

The drawback of that understanding, big-sisterly tolerance was that Alicia was not good at fighting people. Although she could coordinate with her companions, she always paid attention to others' gazes without realizing it. Whether she was worrying about her allies or guarding against enemies, it affected her Concurrent Chanting.

The boy had seen through that completely, and he was using the current situation, along with Alicia's fondness for him, to help the blonde Elf move forward.

This was something Riveria could not do. It was growth that only the boy Alicia had fallen for could bring about.

"Honestly, how many women's hearts does he plan to win...?"

Riveria murmured softly and continued watching over the boy's battle.

Amid the fierce clash, the blonde Elf was weaving her chant.

"Frozen skies, heavenly rain. White ice that colors the forest, shoot the shameful barbarians..."

Magic Power gathered, and the straight sword danced.

An endless chill seemed to be forming around Alicia.

"Bell Cranel, aren't you being a little too careless? Her Magic is very powerful, you know."

Anakitty kept up her attack.

For some reason, the fact that the boy was deliberately helping Alicia refine the details of her Concurrent Chanting made irritation rise in Anakitty's chest.

This was her tactic. She was the one crossing blades with him. So why was Bell Cranel looking at someone else?

Their battle of wits was not over yet. Why was he acting so relaxed?

Because of his chantless Magic, Anakitty and Alicia had indeed taken some damage, but in less than a moment, Line's Healing Magic appeared over both of them. Even if the boy seized an opening and fired Magic at Line, Elfy was there, ready at any time to chant flame Magic and cancel out his fireballs.

Logically speaking, Bell Cranel should have been at a disadvantage. So why was he giving such bizarre instruction?

Was he still hiding something?

Anakitty kept telling herself that the advantage was theirs, yet she could not suppress her curiosity.

As one of the Cat People, that nagging feeling stuck in her throat only made her more and more interested in the boy before her.

"That really is Magic Power I can't ignore."

Bell sighed softly.

Standing at the center of the battlefield, Bell could feel the chill gathering. If Alicia completed her freezing Magic at this distance, even his Firebolt might not be able to contend with it.

"Freeze, binding chains of winter..."

Alicia's chant reached its end.

But the instant she thrust out her straight sword, something unexpected happened.

"Excuse me."

At the final moment, Bell neither dodged nor swung his short blade.

He held the Goddess's Blade diagonally in one hand, blocking Anakitty's attack, while his other hand tore off his red scarf. Then he charged forward, straight toward the incoming sword thrust.

In an instant, Bell closed the distance between himself and Alicia. The small straight sword collided with the scarf, producing a piercing roar. Under the force of the violent impact, Alicia, whose [Strength] was nothing special, let go of the hilt.

Bell did not stop there. He raised his left hand and used the scarf to cover Alicia's mouth.

"Mmph?!"

Alicia's Magic chant turned into muffled whimpers.

Anakitty rushed in at once, slamming her shield forward to limit the boy's movement.

"Alicia-san, how could you trust an enemy's words?"

Bell withdrew the scarf and kept running forward.

"You, I... Wait, drool?!"

Alicia instantly lost all will to fight.

She had gotten used to the interference from Firebolt, which was why she had managed to perform Concurrent Chanting, but the moment the boy changed his approach, Alicia panicked after all.

"Elfy!"

Unlike Alicia, whose face had gone bright red, Anakitty shouted the other girl's name.

A flaw had appeared in the front line's coordination. The boy would definitely seize this chance to take out the healer in the rear.

"Firebolt!"

Just as Anakitty had expected, Bell leapt past the defensive line and immediately fired Firebolt.

Elfy had been waiting for him.

"Dive into the magma, laugh in the face of all!"

Although she could not match the boy, Elfy's Magic was also a short chant. With the distance between them, she had more than enough time to react.

Elfy raised her wand and unleashed flame Magic.

"Fire Explosion!!"

Flames collided, and once again, a roar and smoke descended over the battlefield.

"Huh...?"

Only then did Elfy realize that every Firebolt the boy had fired was aimed at her.

She turned around in confusion and found that Line had already been frozen in place by some unknown ice Magic.

"Eh?!!!!"

Elfy's startled cry shot straight into the sky.

Had the boy activated two Magic spells at the same time?

No, that was impossible. It was not enchanted Magic, so it absolutely should have required a chant.

Unless... a magic sword?!

As Elfy stood frozen in shock, the boy emerged from the smoke, the pale blue short blade in his hand releasing waves of cold air.

"Brilliant..."

Riveria praised him without thinking.

At the same time Bell fired Firebolt, he had poured Magic Power into the blue short blade and used the fireballs as cover to launch an unexpected surprise attack.

It was the same tactic Anakitty and the others had used earlier. The boy had simply copied it.

The difference was that Bell had done it all by himself. The boy's control over Magic Power had already surpassed that of most Mages.

"Elfy-san."

Bell continued charging forward, leaving Anakitty far behind.

He had already tested the strength of the scarf. It could absolutely serve as a shield in special situations.

The new magic sword Welf had forged was also more effective than expected. Although its power was fairly ordinary, its freezing Magic could be mixed in between his Firebolts, adding new possibilities to Bell's combat style.

His equipment had been tested. It was time to end this mock battle.

"Um... Ahh... Wah!"

Before the boy even reached her, Elfy let out a strange scream.

Facing the human girl who tried to smile her way out of trouble, Bell raised his right hand without hesitation and brought judgment down in the form of a chop.

When Riveria saw this, a gentle smile spread across her face.

The boy must have chosen that strike out of consideration for her feelings.

"Uuu..."

Elfy collapsed to the ground, whimpering nonstop.

A moment later, the clash of blades rang beside her ears.

Elfy looked toward Twilight Manor and remembered the boy's confession to Ais.

She pressed her lips together and began quietly crawling through the smoke.

There was still something she had to do!

As long as, as long as she could reach that place...
