Danmachi: There’s Absolutely Nothing Wrong With Seeking a Harem
Chapter 458 - 458: VictoryThe Arrow of Light roared, pure white radiance swallowing the entire meadow.
"…?"
With Riveria and Tiona interfering, Ais failed to dodge the lightning-fast strike.
The cannon blast collided with the raging wind, bursting into a thunderous roar as sparks of light scattered everywhere.
Protected by her Wind Armor, the blonde girl suffered no serious injury. But the moment the pure white light faded, Ais still collapsed to the ground.
The Sword Princess had not lost.
But the little Ais inside her heart had been badly hurt.
Why?
Why was the light that struck her so warm and dazzling?
Why was Lefiya standing at Bell's side too?
That place should have belonged to her…
Riveria, Tiona, all of them were going against her. Did that mean she was the bad child after all?
Little Ais could not understand. All her will to fight vanished, and she threw herself to the ground, wailing and rolling around in a tantrum.
Affected by that, the gale around the blonde girl disappeared completely. Ais lay on the ground, staring blankly up at the blue sky.
"Ais-san, I'm so sorry!!!"
Lefiya's clear voice came one step too late.
The burning warmth left by the flash of light still had not faded from her skin. It was not pain, only a faint heat. But compared to the bite of the cursed weapon, that warmth pierced Ais's heart far more deeply.
Ais knew Bell and Lefiya were both very gentle people. The Magic they had fired must have been held back.
Then why was Lefiya apologizing?
What Ais had wanted to do was clearly far worse.
Capture Bell, lock up Aki, then punish Bell so he would stop lying and never do shameful things with other girls in front of her again.
Was it wrong to think that way?
Why did those two work together so perfectly?
Ais could not keep fighting.
After seeing Bell and Lefiya fight side by side, she could not bring herself to continue no matter what. Right now, Bell had only fired Magic at her from a distance. If that gentle white-haired boy ever swung a blade at her, Ais had no idea what she might become.
The wind died down, and everything around them fell quiet.
The little Ais in the blonde girl's heart seemed to have suffered some enormous grievance. She hugged her knees with both arms as large tears poured down her face.
Ais herself was the same.
There were no tear tracks on her face, only a cold, sullen anger built from layers upon layers of hurt.
"I'm sorry, Ais."
Riveria looked at Ais sitting on the grass and saw the grievance in her expression.
Since force had failed to break through, this girl had resorted to a weapon only children possessed.
Riveria did not stay there to comfort her. Instead, she gripped her staff and walked toward the boy.
"Ais, do I need to apologize to you too? Wait… Riveria, don't pull me. I still don't even know what happened."
Tiona still wanted to ask the blonde girl what was going on, but Riveria dragged her away.
She chattered noisily, but before long, her smile had returned.
"Argonaut-kun~ That Magic just now was amazing!"
Tiona greeted him brightly.
She had never seen the boy use that move before. She only found it fascinating and did not dig into the details.
"Hello, Tiona-san. It's only been a day, but you're still as energetic as ever."
Bell could not help being affected by the Amazoness girl's sunny smile.
"Mm, about what I said yesterday… never mind! Um…"
Tiona wanted to tell the boy she would definitely keep his secret, just as she had promised.
But halfway through, she suddenly realized Riveria and Lefiya were right beside her, so she quickly clapped a hand over her mouth.
"…"
A faint worry drifted through Bell's mind.
Why, of all people, did Tiona have to find out about that absurd, spur-of-the-moment promise the blonde girl had made…
Riveria's gentle voice pulled Bell back to reality. "Bell Cranel, I'll leave Ais to you. She's sulking right now and sitting on the ground without moving."
Although they could all see Ais's condition from a distance, Riveria still voiced her judgment.
"I understand."
Bell nodded and slowly walked forward.
As they brushed past each other, Riveria whispered in a voice no one else could hear, "Come to my room after this is over."
Her soft words stopped between the two of them. Riveria did not wait for the boy's answer and simply continued walking.
What she left Bell with was only her beautiful, elegant emerald-green figure from behind, along with layer after layer of questions.
Why call him over like that?
Was it something she did not want anyone else to know?
No. Considering Riveria's personality, could she have found out about Ais's bizarre agreement?
The moment Bell thought of that, his steps grew a little heavier.
Tiona, who might leak the secret at any moment. Ais, who had lost control of her emotions. Riveria, whose cards he still did not know.
Without a doubt, Bell was now standing at the center of a raging whirlpool.
Before he could come up with a plan, another girl stirred up the waves.
"You permanently horny rabbit, what did Riveria-sama just say to you?"
Lefiya had sharply caught that tiny detail.
There was a vague, tangled atmosphere between Bell and Riveria.
Lefiya found it hard to describe the feeling. To her, Riveria's beautiful, captivating emerald-colored Magic seemed to have been stained with the boy's color.
"Riveria-san was just acting as a gracious host and telling me what comes next."
Bell chose vague wording to hide the truth.
Problems were piling up everywhere. Within the entire Loki Familia, there was not a single safe place left. Bell absolutely could not light another fuse and turn the adorable golden-yellow elf beside him into a demon.
"Really? That sounds a little suspicious…?"
Lefiya narrowed her eyes and looked into the boy's crimson-scarlet gaze.
She had already grown suspicious while watching Riveria and the others fight.
Her confusion at the time was not about why Riveria was there. It was about why the Riveria she knew, strict yet gentle, had chosen to stand on the boy's side and clash directly with Ais.
For a moment, Lefiya forgot about Ais and even her own embarrassment, steadily closing the distance between herself and the boy.
"Of course it's true."
Bell answered brightly.
He had only used careful wording to hide the truth. He had not twisted the facts.
"Hmm… fine."
Lefiya studied him for a while, then belatedly stepped back.
She pursed her lips, a faint blush on her cheeks. "Go comfort Ais-san. And remember to tell her I'm really, truly sorry."
"But…"
Bell knew Lefiya and Ais were close, so he had been about to ask. But the golden-yellow elf pressed her slender index finger against his lips.
Lefiya gave the boy a reproachful look and urged him softly:
"Hurry up and go, you idiot."
