Chapter 131: Chapter 84: One Move Ahead (Part 2)

His Void Form Profound Creation Dragon Technique originally stemmed from his desire to create the Five-Clawed Flame Dragon Divine Technique. Now, however, it drew more from the Form and Essence Dao, manifesting different powers by channeling his various other Daoist arts. It had gradually diverged from the original Divine Technique.

The Thunder Dragon arrived in a flash. With a swipe of its claws, it condensed a sky full of lightning and fire, hurling it at the Thunder Roc. Unfazed, the Thunder Roc flapped its wings. Streaks of Purple Sky Divine Thunder shot out, easily repelling the assault. The cloud dragon in its talons, however, struggled relentlessly, its immense power sending out continuous shockwaves. With the Thunder Dragon pressing forward, the two dragons’ pincer attack managed to create a temporary stalemate.

’So, Xuzhuang... using me to test your arts, are you? Then I’ll show you a thing or two.’ Zhong Shenxiu’s brow knitted. At his command, he poured a massive amount of power into the spell. The Purple Sky Thunder Roc shrieked, tossed the cloud dragon aside, and its entire body trembled.

Amidst the crackling, interwoven lightning, the Thunder Roc’s form swelled, transforming into a Thunder God Dharma Aspect. It had three heads and six arms, the head of a purple-winged eagle, eyes like a panther’s that glittered like stars, a crown of lightning, and a pair of wings sprouting from its back. It was clad in dark armor and a helmet, its banners whipping in the wind.

"HAH!" The Thunder God Dharma Aspect opened its mouth and roared. Heaven and earth trembled, and Xuzhuang’s dragon constructs faltered for an instant. The Dharma Aspect stretched out two of its arms and snatched both the cloud dragon and the Thunder Dragon.

Xuzhuang adapted his technique. The two dragons’ bodies coiled around the Thunder God Dharma Aspect’s arms. But the aspect was fearless. Its six arms intertwined, each grabbing a section of the dragons’ bodies. With a vicious tug, it pulled the two dragons taut like a pair of hemp ropes.

The Thunder God’s eyes flashed, and a thunderbolt shot forth, striking the two dragons. Their bodies shuddered. Then, with an exertion of immense strength, the Dharma Aspect finally tore the two dragons apart, ripping them into a sky full of dissipating energy.

’Impressive,’ Xuzhuang praised inwardly. Though they had only been fighting for a brief time, they had already pitted their Swordsmanship, magical treasures, cultivation prowess, and Daoist arts against one another. While there were slight disparities, no true victor had emerged.

He had used his entire arsenal yet still failed to gain a true upper hand. It had been a long time since Xuzhuang had met such an opponent. His fighting spirit surged, and he secretly made a decision. With a flip of his hand, a Jade Lamp materialized.

The moment the Jade Lamp appeared, the flame within it burst forth with a brilliant golden light, seeming to vie with the sun for brilliance in the small space around it.

Xuzhuang held the lamp before him and gently blew a continuous stream of vaporous Magical Power into it. It was like pouring oil on a fire. The flame instantly erupted, surging out and transforming into a boundless sea of fire that engulfed the Thunder God Dharma Aspect in an instant. It continued to spread, bathing the entire sky in a radiant golden glow.

’Great Sun True Flame.’ A hint of surprise flickered in Zhong Shenxiu’s eyes. This flame was refined by cultivators from collected Great Sun Fire Essence. Though it sounded simple, not even every Nascent Soul Great Successor Cultivator who practiced fire-based techniques could accomplish it.

The sheer difficulty of refining this flame spoke to its incredible power. What shocked Zhong Shenxiu even more was the cost. Even with a spark of the flame, fueling a True Flame of this magnitude required an immense amount of Magical Power. For Xuzhuang to conjure an entire sea of fire in one go... no matter how profound his reserves were, it was not a feat he could perform casually.

Zhong Shenxiu’s gaze flickered. He swept the area with his Spiritual Sense and, sure enough, saw sixteen streaks of rainbow light surrounding him in all directions, circling unpredictably. Not only did they block his Flying Escape path, but they were also positioned just beyond the range of his ’Inch Shifting Escape Technique’.

Zhong Shenxiu let out a dry laugh. With his Divine Techniques, it wouldn’t be hard to break the encirclement; it would just take some effort. But he understood the situation perfectly. This was Xuzhuang’s way of declaring it was time to settle things.

True to his pride, Zhong Shenxiu would never retreat. With a great swing of his sleeve, he roared once more, "Part the River, Form the Land! OPEN!"

He used the same Daoist art that had shattered the Thousand Jin Dharma Qi, but this time he infused it with boundless Magical Power. A mystical force erupted, brutally cleaving the sea of fire. The flames rolled back to either side until a path hundreds of feet wide had formed. Only then did the force seem to fade, and the walls of fire began to press inward again.

Zhong Shenxiu, however, was unhurried. He stood in the air with his hands behind his back and shouted, "Xuzhuang!"

As expected, Xuzhuang appeared as a streak of rainbow light, speeding down the channel carved through the sea of fire. In a matter of moments, he was before him. Their eyes met. Almost simultaneously, they began a familiar set of movements, and a familiar scene played out.

With a single hand, Xuzhuang formed a Dharma Seal. He let out a long roar, and the Innate Tai Su Qi Grand Capture shot toward the heavens. Its five fingers spread wide, gathering a tempest of wind and thunder as it pressed down with the crushing weight of a mountain.

Zhong Shenxiu formed the Primordial Seal with both hands. A dim light flashed behind his shoulders, and the Mixed Element Qi Refining Great Capture fearlessly shot up to meet the attack.

The two great hands seemed to approach slowly, but in reality, they collided violently in an instant. With a tremendous RUMBLE, Chaos Primordial Qi exploded outward, and a murky mist filled the sky.

Immediately after, a fierce wind blew out from within, instantly dispersing the dim mist. The Innate Tai Su Qi Grand Capture reappeared, completely unscathed. Its posture hadn’t changed in the slightest. Its five fingers remained wide open as it continued to press down.

Though it takes long to describe, from the moment the two palms met to the moment the Innate Tai Su Qi Grand Capture crushed the Mixed Element Qi Refining Great Capture and pressed down upon Zhong Shenxiu’s head, only an instant had passed.

The Innate Tai Su Qi Grand Capture rumbled as it pressed down, its imprisoning power already locking Zhong Shenxiu in place. He looked up at the descending hand, a flicker of regret in his heart.

This duel had, in a way, begun with a clash of capture techniques in the Dharma Origin Grotto Heaven. By tacit agreement, they had both chosen to use these same techniques for their final confrontation, as if intending to end the duel just as it had started.
