Death… And Me

Chapter 4489: Be My Guest

"I’m going to be straight," Roan said as he looked directly at Coyui. "How can you even move with that concentration of Godly Pressure?"

It was the question everyone wanted answered the moment they realized the residents of Woster could walk around as if nothing was wrong. The twins’ group could temporarily overcome the Godly Pressure by relying on Roan’s pills, Rean’s arrays, or the Sanctuary’s effect, but every one of those methods was only a temporary measure.

Their pills lasted mere seconds in the overwhelming pressure outside the vault, while the Sanctuary obviously couldn’t be used all the time. There had to be another solution, one that the natives of this place had relied on their entire lives.

Coyui crossed his arms and looked back at Roan with a puzzled expression. "I’m actually more curious about why you can’t move," he replied instead. "To me, that’s the strange part."

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"I think it is pretty obvious by now, but you are the very first outsiders I’ve ever seen. In fact, you might very well be the first outsiders anyone in Woster has seen for countless years."

That statement immediately drew Thery’s attention.

"Now that I think about it..." Thery narrowed his eyes. "How did you know we weren’t from this place? Yes, we told you so ourselves, but would you really believe complete strangers just because they claimed it? Considering everything you explained about Woster’s history, it doesn’t make much sense that you accepted our story so easily."

The others exchanged glances as well.

It was a good question.

After all, anyone could have lied.

Fortunately, Coyui didn’t appear bothered by explaining it.

"I didn’t believe you at first," he admitted honestly. "When all of you suddenly appeared inside the vault, I assumed you had simply activated one of the ancient mechanisms connecting the different vaults together."

"The different vaults?" Flugel repeated.

Coyui nodded.

"This isn’t the only vault scattered throughout Woster. There are tens of thousands of them, maybe even more. Most are abandoned, while others have become ruins no one bothers exploring anymore. Still, I heard some stories about experts capable of traveling between them using the mechanisms left behind."

He scratched his head before laughing awkwardly.

"So, when you appeared, I simply thought you had come from another vault. Truth be told, I was hoping you would... err... what was the word you used?"

"Teleport," Rean reminded him.

"Right. Teleport. I wanted you to teleport me to whatever vault you had come from. At that point, I had no reason whatsoever to think you came from outside Woster."

Roan immediately understood where the explanation was leading. "The moment we stepped outside..."

"Exactly," Coyui nodded before Roan could finish. "That was when I finally understood everything."

Roan folded his arms. "We couldn’t move because of the Godly Pressure."

"That was all the proof I needed," Coyui confirmed.

Roan still frowned. "It proves we aren’t from here, but it still doesn’t explain why. Why does failing to move immediately identify us as outsiders?"

Coyui looked around at everyone, surprised they genuinely didn’t understand something so obvious. "Because there is no such thing as someone who can’t move inside Woster."

Silence immediately filled the vault.

Coyui continued as if explaining common sense.

"When Calol looked at you earlier, he wasn’t wondering why you weren’t moving. To him, it was immediately obvious you were being restrained by the Godly Pressure. I reached exactly the same conclusion. The strange part wasn’t that you couldn’t move. The strange part was that such people could even exist."

He shook his head.

"I’m not exaggerating when I say even newborn babies have no problem moving around here. Obviously they are affected somewhat, but they can crawl, stand, and eventually walk just like anywhere else. As they grow older, they naturally adapt until the Godly Pressure no longer interferes with them."

Coyui looked at Arcis, then at the twins again.

"Yet all of you possess rather impressive cultivations. If you truly couldn’t move properly under Godly Pressure, there is simply no way you would have reached those cultivation realms while living in Woster."

Those words carried enormous implications.

Arcis, Thery, Flugel, Haniala, and every other Thousand-Script Race member immediately realized what Coyui had unintentionally revealed.

If every native of Woster could freely move under such terrifying Godly Pressure, then perhaps the secret they had been searching for all this time truly existed.

Perhaps there really was a way to adapt.

The twins quietly exchanged looks.

Naturally, they had reached the same conclusion almost immediately. More importantly, both of them carefully observed the reactions of the pink faeries hidden inside their bodies.

Nothing happened.

Not even the slightest movement.

Rean silently breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, this information wasn’t something they had revealed themselves. Coyui was merely explaining how life worked in Woster, something that existed independently of them. The restriction imposed by Duze only prevented the twins’ group from directly revealing methods related to resisting Godly Pressure. Simply listening to someone else’s explanation wasn’t enough to trigger the faeries.

Rean then remembered another doubt.

"You mentioned our cultivation levels earlier," he said. "However, neither Celestial Sense nor Godly Sense seems capable of leaving our bodies in this place. How did you determine our cultivations?"

Coyui answered almost immediately. "I carried every single one of you back into the vault earlier, didn’t I?"

Rean blinked. "Yes..."

"Your senses can’t extend outside your bodies because of whatever is affecting this place. However, they still exist inside you. If I maintain direct physical contact, I can guide my Sense through the point of contact and inspect your body from there."

Understanding immediately dawned on everyone. "Oh..."

Rean reached down and gently placed his hand on the fox resting beside him.

Sure enough, his Godly Sense smoothly entered her body without any resistance whatsoever. It simply refused to leave his body unless there was direct physical contact acting as a bridge.

"So that’s how it works," Rean muttered, although he wasn’t widely surprised as he had experienced similar things before.

That small discovery alone already made Woster considerably less mysterious than before.
