"Pfft, what? Monsters spawning inside the Runic Gates? Are you crazy?"

"Ugh, I just want to eat peacefully at this good shop that delivers high-quality food. We’re already miserable enough in this place. Don’t add to it, kid."

"I agree."

"Ruins the appetite. Tsk."

Runic Gates spawning monsters from within.

To the others who had heard it, Cillian’s attempt to make everyone aware of it was already failing because they all found his statement absurd. They were already glad that the Runic Gates had stopped appearing, as they had enough matters to deal with.

Making up something that would only throw people into chaos wasn’t really helpful or good.

But those who knew Cillian, specifically because he was the one who discovered Arthur’s plans, couldn’t help but think about his statement.

’Monsters from the Runic Gates...?’

There were already several Runic Gates that were difficult to clear, including Disaster Runic Gates that had turned out to be Unconquerable. Now, another problem was coming their way while they already had the Shepherds to deal with.

It’s not even related to the topic that Oliver had pushed earlier!

"You’re telling me the reason they haven’t been very proactive is that they’re preparing for this to happen?"

Aster clarified in simple terms that Cillian could only nod.

"I can’t show you anything yet because something as absurd as this isn’t something that can just happen overnight. However, I have living proof from someone who witnessed it and can confirm that the sudden disappearance of the Runic Gates is only the beginning of what’s to come."

"Can I meet this fellow, Cillian?"

Oliver immediately pressed, seemingly believing that the reason for the appearance of the Runic Gates over the past hundred years was all for this.

Maybe the Runic Gates of this world were meant to be cleared no matter what, with the Pieces stored inside them meant to help them prepare for the upcoming disaster.

However, Cillian gave a disappointing answer to him.

"I don’t think you can. He’s asleep right now."

Then, he looked around to see if there were more people giving them curious glances. Once he was sure it was safe, he secretly grabbed Mouthful Eye from his Inventory.

"What...?!"

This made Aster widen his eyes and exclaim in a hushed voice to avoid disturbing the other customers in the shop.

’This eye is the living proof?’

But he immediately thought that it made sense. It was this Artifact that had told him about the Shepherds of Creation back in the maze, after all, which he had kept secret from Oliver so as not to cause Cillian trouble.

On the other hand, Oliver was confused.

"Why are you showing me this?"

When Oliver seemed confused because he indeed hadn’t seen Mouthful Eye talk before, Cillian sighed.

Then, he signaled Aster to give him something he could write on. Aster immediately rummaged through the bag and grabbed a piece of paper and a pen before handing them over to Cillian.

Cillian immediately wrote down the information before handing the paper to Oliver, allowing him to read it quietly.

/This is Mouthful Eye. He has been traveling between different worlds, and he was the one who told me about the existence of the Shepherds and how this world is also plagued by the Ruins. He can talk./

Cillian didn’t need to tell them that he was only part of someone’s consciousness and that he was currently assimilating a Singularity. He only told them what they wanted to know, and the information was fairly basic to give them an idea of what Cillian was talking about.

Oliver read the text again before burning it with a simple fire spell, reducing it to ashes.

Then, an exhausted sigh escaped his lips.

"You revealed this to me because you wanted everyone to at least be aware of the incoming danger, didn’t you?"

"Of course."

Mouthful Eye, or Aiden specifically, had always reminded Cillian not to underestimate the Runic Gates of the middle stages. Now that he had an opportunity to tell someone who might be capable of spreading the word and convincing people to prepare, especially since the student-teacher duo was already set to leave again, he might as well give them a task.

’This is an unexpected meeting with them. Well, it’s not like I haven’t seen them over the past several days. I’ve seen them once or twice a week. But this unexpected meeting turned out to be better.’

Cillian pondered inwardly before seeing that Oliver was done with his meal.

Aster, who had stopped halfway through, decided to stop for now as he watched Cillian secretly put Mouthful Eye away somewhere, which he assumed was some sort of storage space similar to his pouch.

But Cillian’s storage was much more advanced, as Aster had just seen his hand pass through the air.

’This guy is really amazing.’

Aster hadn’t just idled around for the past few weeks. He had been helping the Viola Family with the renovations while he and Oliver were still recovering their strength after being discharged from the hospital.

One of the tasks he led was investigating the situation at Hensel Hospital, where most of the victims had been controlled by Arthur, to see the situation inside.

Aster only knew that Cillian had come from Hensel shortly before they moved toward the entrance of the Ancient Ruins. Cillian never talked about what had happened inside, aside from mentioning that he had been hunted there.

Yet a huge fight had ensued that no one was aware of aside from the few who had been there, mainly the main cast of the group who had helped Aster clear it out.

It was a fight where only one victor walked away after successfully escaping the pursuit of the Black Shepherds.

There were nine Shepherds scattered around the entrance and six more across Hensel, bringing the total number of Shepherds to fifteen.

Yes, it was a brutal fight, but Aster traced how the battle had unfolded and saw that Cillian had deliberately avoided fighting them head-on. Instead, he created situations that were advantageous to him, allowing him to avoid fighting at the same level.

Cillian didn’t fight fairly, but because of that, he won.

Aster knew Cillian was the type of guy who would always find the best way to deal with his opponents in the current situation and adapt no matter what.

Still, being able to execute them all without any second thoughts and with such strong decision-making was something Aster currently lacked.

He couldn’t forget the expressions on Kash, Willow, Ivy, and Melissa’s faces when he explained the situation to them. Even he had been shocked and felt chills while telling them what he had found.

Aster continued looking at Cillian.

This person, who had seemed like an ordinary man Aster would have overlooked because he was merely Fergus’s lapdog, had become someone Aster respected.

’I’ll catch up to you soon.’

Aster promised himself.

He saw Cillian as someone he could look up to, though sometimes his actions infuriated him. Still, he was someone Aster could trust to have his back.

Cillian was a role model to him.

"What are you looking at?"

Cillian, who finally noticed that Aster was staring at him a bit too much, frowned, thinking that he wanted to fight, and asked.

Then Aster immediately removed his gaze and smiled.

"Nothing. I just thought that you’re amazing."

Cillian tilted his head and scoffed.

"I’m indeed amazing. You noticed it just now? Didn’t I keep showing this side of mine back in the Academy?"

"Sure, sure."

This was one of the times when Aster was annoyed by his actions, but for now, he let it be and let Cillian continue to brag.

"Hey, I’m indeed amazing. Come on, say it again."

Though eventually, Aster grew annoyed and started regretting saying that to Cillian.

Seeing Cillian’s smug, ear-to-ear grin, Aster stared at him silently before closing his eyes.

’Should I consider another role model?’
