However, in the next moment, all eight of them gaped!
Chu Xiu merely waved lightly, and the small bag in his hand, only as large as an infant’s head, expanded with the wind. In the blink of an eye, it inflated to the size of a house, its opening revealing an abyssal darkness within.
As the mouth of the bag opened, the rushing Death Qi Waterfall was completely absorbed into it!
Chu Xiu pointed a finger, and the bag leaped upward like a giant whale with its mouth wide open, charging against the waterfall. Strangely, no matter how much Death Qi was poured down, the bag absorbed it like a bottomless pit!
Meanwhile, Chu Xiu leisurely led the remaining six behind him.
This sight nearly made the eyes of many Immortals pop out!
Not to mention them, even the six behind Chu Xiu were utterly shocked, clearly feeling the terrifying pressure descending from above as they stood within the Death Qi Waterfall.
Even the eyes deep within Penglai flashed with surprise.
In the gaze of the crowd, Chu Xiu moved at remarkable speed, reaching the top of the Holy Mountain in less than half an hour.
Yet he did not stop. He waited another quarter of an hour at ease, seemingly until that strange bag was completely filled, before chuckling and stepping with the other six into Penglai.
The faces of the eight Immortals watching this were filled with helplessness. After exchanging glances, they entered Penglai together.
"Bang."
After diving into that dark vortex, Chu Xiu felt himself wrapped in an enormous suction, pulling him deeper into the vortex. He did not resist but allowed the force to steer him. Moments later, after a spatial shift, he landed on a clearing.
Chu Xiu looked around. The desolate land before him was marked only by occasional protruding red rocks, as though he were on the surface of Mars.
And not far away stood a tall figure, seemingly waiting specially for him.
"This is unlike the legendary Immortal Realm," Chu Xiu said lightly.
The figure chuckled, "No need to jest, my friend. We self-proclaimed Immortals have no ability to create an Immortal Realm."
Chu Xiu chuckled softly, thinking this person quite candid.
If nothing unexpected, they should be the legendary "Immortal Emperor."
Immediately, Chu Xiu extended his Divine Sense towards them.
But he soon felt a chill.
This person’s Soul Body strength was not comparable to other Immortal Venerables or Monarchs!
If others’ Soul Bodies were like lakes, his was a vast ocean!
Chu Xiu couldn’t even fully probe the strength of his Soul Body; he could only make a rough estimate.
A thought flashed through his mind.
Demigod Ghost!
Though Chu Xiu had long anticipated this, given the opponent’s split soul within the Inheritance Immortal Stele comparable to his own, their Divine Soul strength was undoubtedly much stronger.
Yet feeling that abyssal Mental Power personally made him deeply wary.
Still, Chu Xiu didn’t feel overly afraid.
[Soul Hook] and [Ghost’s Wail] were Divine Techniques that strongly countered Ghosts, and he had numerous Mental Attack denying Equipment.
With the Artifact Origin and Divine-Demonic Power enhancing the [Imperial Five Dragon Crown], it already matched Heroic Spirit Mythical Level Mental Defense Equipment.
Even if he couldn’t overwhelm the opponent in a Divine Soul battle, self-preservation was abundantly assured.
Moreover, no ghost could completely abandon a physical presence, and Chu Xiu still had some confidence in physical combat.
"Boom, boom, boom."
As he mused, consecutive landing sounds signaled the others’ arrivals.
The eight Immortals immediately stood behind the Immortal Emperor, watching Chu Xiu warily, evidently left with deep impressions of him.
Meanwhile, Su Jinyu and the others curiously examined their surroundings, showing that the scene here had also caught them by surprise.
No one spoke, with everyone wisely waiting for Chu Xiu to address them.
After some contemplation, Chu Xiu looked towards the distant Immortal Emperor and said, "If you summon me for vengeance, then go ahead now."
The person shook his head with a smile, "You misunderstand, my friend; I never harbored ill intent towards you."
Chu Xiu certainly didn’t believe such nonsense, merely sneering, "In that case, why did you call me here?"
The person smiled, "To present you with an opportunity."
Chu Xiu scoffed, "Spare me such words; speak openly."
The person said, "I should have considered better; let me explain promptly."
"Allow me to introduce myself first. I am Qingyunzi, known by Ghosts in the Lower Realm as the Immortal Emperor. Yet, this self-assumed title is just vanity. You may call me Qingyun."
Qingyun’s words made Chu Xiu frown. This ghost’s appearance was of a refined young Daoist, speaking with temperance and warmth, but this seemed odd to Chu Xiu.
The Ghost King who once destroyed the demon-exorcising world was, if nothing unexpected, one of the Divine Souls of the buried Heroic Spirits, or consciousness born from many merging souls in that ominous place.
Otherwise, why would it be so coincidental that after thousands of years of the Demon-Exorcising Race’s existence without encountering a Ghost King, one appeared less than a year after the Awakened invaded?
The Heroic Spirits of the Demon-Exorcising Race were evident. Among the three buried Heroic Spirits, Chu Xiu had their data, none having any Daoist or Cultivator heritage. Where, then, did this ghost acquire such knowledge?
Furthermore, when fighting its split soul in the Inheritance Immortal Stele, its Divine Soul combat techniques were incredibly fascinating, considering that the Yama Scripture, though Chu Xiu had only cultivated its First Layer, was top-tier for Demon Cultivators. Relying on its innate Subduing Ghost ability, at equal Divine Soul strength, it was virtually undefeated, yet the opponent still suppressed Chu Xiu, evidencing its powerful techniques.
Could these techniques have been self-realized by this ghost in two thousand years?
While possible, Chu Xiu still found it quite peculiar.
Harboring doubts, he showed no sign, merely saying, "Stop the chatter and get to the point."
Chu Xiu’s cold demeanor didn’t faze Qingyun, who just smiled and said, "Then let’s start from this place’s origins... Aren’t you able to leave now?"
Chu Xiu snorted, "Why ask the obvious."
Upon entering Penglai, he attempted to leave but unfortunately found himself bound by a power, making it impossible to escape.
Qingyun smiled, "That’s because Penglai Immortal Realm is within the same space as the Furnace’s bottom, its Law of Space naturally the same. But didn’t you notice the difference between this place and below?"
Chu Xiu briefly scanned with his Divine Sense and quickly figured it out: "There’s no Death Qi here."
"Correct," Qingyun nodded, "That’s the mystery here. For two thousand years, I labored to create this place to isolate Death Qi."
"And that Death Qi is the key for you to leave!"
Hearing this, Chu Xiu’s expression shifted slightly, and the six behind him also focused on Qingyun in full attention.
With a faint smile, Qingyun was about to continue when the ground began to tremble slightly. The eight Immortals by his side assumed a stance as if facing an enemy!
Qingyun flipped his hand, and a pitch-black sword appeared.
"We’ll discuss this later. There’s immediate trouble that requires some assistance."
Chu Xiu frowned, looking ahead, his gaze shifting as he noticed countless shadows speeding towards them at the horizon’s edge!
