Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 1750: Like Fish Dragons and Whales

The blue sky split open without warning, a sharp claw emerged from the other side of the crack, and with a firm pull, easily tore open a black teleportation gate in the blue sky.

The adventurers present looked simultaneously towards the teleportation gate in the sky.

Clad in colorful scale armor, a giant dragon slipped through the black teleportation gate, spread its wings to fly, bringing along a black giant dragon that landed in front of all the adventurers.

The two massive dragons rapidly shrunk to human size at a visible speed, transforming into human forms.

The arrivals were the Old Dragon King of the Dragon God Council, and the Black Dragon Hei Luo, responsible for adventurer guild matters.

Hei Luo coughed lightly and, as before, announced their victory to the adventurers present:

"Dear adventurers, you have worked hard.

The aura of the Evil Dragon has completely vanished.

We will reward you differently based on your accomplishments to commend your outstanding performance.

The world should remember you for eradicating the Evil Dragon from this world."

Upon Hei Luo’s words, several S-Class adventure groups began celebrating simultaneously.

The team that captured the Evil Dragon’s offspring elected one person to inquire about the disposition of the Evil Dragon’s offspring.

The Old Dragon King had long discussed this issue with other giant dragons and provided an answer:

"We will take these Evil Dragon offspring away.

Depending on their future behavior, they will be treated accordingly.

No one is born entirely good, nor is anyone inherently evil.

If they recognize their mistakes and wish to make amends, we will offer them a chance to live."

Looking at the surviving offspring of the Evil Dragon, the Old Dragon King raised his voice to ensure all could hear:

"This is the opportunity I offer you, and it is the only one.

In the future, you will be under our supervision for a long period.

I hope you will redefine your perception of the world and understand reality through our guidance.

If you dare commit any atrocious acts again, we will not hesitate to erase you from this world.

If you feel that your existence is meaningless after your mother’s death, we will also eliminate you through proper channels.

Once the arrangements are complete, I will take you away.

Since we are present, do not make any futile struggles attempting to escape."

The Old Dragon King did not condemn all the Evil Dragon’s offspring outright simply because they were born of the Evil Dragon.

Perhaps among these offspring, one or two might exist who do not wish to follow the Evil Dragon’s commands, merely acting under their mother’s tyranny.

Providing refuge for the Evil Dragon’s offspring carries certain risks, but the Old Dragon King ultimately decided to do so.

Upon hearing the Old Dragon King’s words, several offspring bowed their heads thoughtfully, while others clamored for execution.

The Old Dragon King did not change his mind due to the clamorous voices, instead using his magic power to envelop each surviving offspring, inducing deep sleep.

The adventurers present did not know what the surviving offspring would eventually become and could only respect the Old Dragon King’s choice.

Yang Yu, accompanied by his companions, followed the human form of Sol Rott to land before the Old Dragon King.

The Old Dragon King scrutinized Sol Rott, who reciprocated the gaze.

After a long while, Sol Rott spoke first:

"You bear a striking resemblance to two of my former comrades, are you their descendants? (Luka Language)"

The Old Dragon King smiled faintly and replied:

"Perhaps.

I never imagined you could travel across such a vast span of time to arrive here.

This world is no longer what it once was.

They sought to use their strength for change, yet ultimately chose to obey the Contractor’s commands, quietly guarding humanity’s legacy.

And I have inherited their will.

What are your plans now? (Luka Language)"

Sol Rott pondered for a moment before responding: "It was your ancestors who made the vows, not me.

I am unbound upon arriving in this world.

If possible, I wish to live my life in my own way, to better understand this world.

Though it seems I might be branded as an Evil Dragon.

I do not wish to be hunted by adventurers like I am now (Luka Language)."

The Old Dragon King nodded solemnly and said: "I also wish to respect your choice, as you are our predecessor.

But because of certain things, we are sometimes powerless to act otherwise.

This is also to uphold human civilization, allowing it to one day return to glory. (Luka Language)"

Sol Rott shook his head, switched to the current language, and said:

"Civilization is merely a tool for life’s continuation.

In the education I received, civilization is like the sharp claws and teeth used by beasts, each is a tool to better one’s survival.

If humans boast and strive to highlight civilization’s superiority, defining civilization according to their self-validation, they complicate their existence, thus reversing priorities.

Old civilizations will be phased out, while new ones will thrive amidst the collapse of old ones, growing wildly.

Yet, this does not mean the path our civilization took was wrong.

Like the Fish Dragon from millions of years ago, like the whale from tens of millions of years ago, despite differing origins, they evolved into the likeness of fish.

In the ocean, a streamlined body provides the solution for swift swimming.

Do not negate the path it once took, nor reject all it embodied because the Fish Dragon became extinct.

Though our past civilization vanished, it does not mean our civilization pales in comparison to newly emerged ones.

Perhaps, it was due to unresolved issues that led us towards extinction.

Finding where things went awry is a long discussion.

I heard you began protecting the vow upon "the last person’s" suggestion.

You have your reasons, but remember, you, I, and everyone present are human.

Being human grants us the right to decide the future.

Unfortunately, these millennia have revived the most primal parts of the heart.

Making everyone in this world aware of their humanity is a challenging task.

I wish to become a Preacher.

To cultivate this consensus from scratch.

With the identity of a human, not of a giant dragon, is that acceptable?"

Sol Rott thoroughly outlined his ideas, some points were difficult for observing adventurers to grasp, yet the Old Dragon King sensed Sol Rott’s resemblance to those of the past:

"I understand your thoughts.

But convincing me alone is not enough, you must accompany me to our Panlong Peak.

I will recount to you the events that transpired during this time, and allow you to decide upon hearing all.

If you still do not change your inner thoughts upon hearing everything I narrate, I will respect your decision then.

And also hope that you will adhere to our rules."
