Strax spent a few seconds staring at the enormous hole he had opened in the palace wall. The black gauntlet still covered his right arm, small chains spiraling around his forearm while fragments of Hades’s authority circulated through the newly formed metal. Persephone continued staring at the destruction with an expression shifting between outrage and resignation, but Strax seemed perfectly satisfied with the result. He opened and closed his hand a few times, felt the relic follow every movement without resistance, then let the energy subside until the black lines around his arm lost some of their glow.
"Well, I’m going back to Asgard," he said.
Persephone slowly looked away from the destroyed wall.
"You’re leaving now?"
"For the moment."
Strax started walking toward Lithara and Albedo. Both were still observing the gauntlet with interest, especially Lithara, who seemed to be trying to understand how he had managed to turn a divine relic thousands of years old into something else using little more than brute force, fire, and ice. Albedo, on the other hand, already seemed far more interested in the fact that Strax had said a few minutes earlier that he would take care of certain matters once they returned home.
Persephone crossed her arms.
"And Tartarus?"
Strax stopped.
"I’m going to prepare an army and bring some troops here."
The Regent’s expression immediately changed.
"Why?"
Strax turned toward her naturally.
"Because it would be a waste not to."
Persephone frowned.
"You just said you can deal with the Titans."
"I can."
"Then why bring an entire army?"
Strax looked through the hole he had just created toward the region outside the palace. Beyond it, Tartarus stretched like an entire world of ancient territories, monsters, ruins, and creatures that had survived for ages under conditions that would destroy ordinary soldiers.
To someone trying to build a force capable of fighting gods, it did not look like merely a problem.
It looked like an opportunity.
"I can handle a good portion of the Titans by myself when they start waking up," he explained. "Maybe a few will require more work, but I’m not worried about that. The problem is, if I do everything alone, Asgard gains nothing except safety."
Persephone began to understand before he finished.
Strax continued:
"Asgard’s soldiers have become much stronger since we started facing greater threats. The war in the desert proved that. People who used to be merely good learned how to fight creatures that don’t follow normal rules. Tartarus is even better for that. Hostile environment, strong monsters, dense demonic energy, and enemies capable of truly pressuring our fighters."
Thana remained a few steps behind Persephone, listening closely.
"You want to turn Tartarus into a training ground."
"Partially."
"That sounds extremely irresponsible."
Strax looked at her.
"That’s why I’ll send prepared soldiers, not children."
Thana did not look convinced, but she also failed to come up with an immediate answer.
Strax turned back to Persephone. "I’ll select units that have already been through real campaigns. Small groups, good commanders, and enough support to retreat if they find something above their level. I don’t want to lose soldiers for no reason. I want them to fight, survive, and come back stronger."
Persephone placed one hand on her hip.
"And you expect me to simply allow foreign troops into Tartarus."
"You want to eliminate the monsters here."
"I do."
"I want to train my army."
She went silent.
Strax opened one hand.
"Problem solved."
Persephone let out a short breath, but eventually nodded. The proposal genuinely benefited both of them. Tartarus contained far too many regions for her to clean everything using only the subordinates who still recognized her authority, while Asgard needed real experience against high-level creatures before the war with Olympus began.
"I’ll do something similar," she said. "The demons living here also need to start working. For a long time, Hades allowed several clans to remain isolated as long as they didn’t directly interfere with the prisons. That freedom is over."
Thana gave a short, humorless laugh.
"Good luck."
Persephone looked at her.
"Is there a problem?"
"The demons of Tartarus are arrogant."
Strax slowly moved his eyes toward Lithara.
The Succubus Queen was examining her own nails.
Then he looked at Albedo.
She stood perfectly straight beside him, her white horns clearly visible and her expression carrying the natural confidence of someone who considered it normal to obey only those she recognized as superior.
Strax looked back at Thana.
"Yeah."
She noticed.
"See?"
"You’re right."
Lithara raised her head.
"Hey."
"I didn’t say anything."
"Your look did."
Albedo crossed her arms.
"Weak demons usually confuse pride with strength."
Thana pointed at her.
"Exactly that."
Albedo looked slightly offended.
Persephone, however, became thoughtful. Organizing the demons of Tartarus would probably be far more complicated than eliminating the monsters. Some ancient families had possessed their own territories for thousands of years, while certain Primordials barely acknowledged the existence of any authority other than their own.
Strax noticed her expression.
"After I deal with Lithara and Albedo at home, I’ll send them both back to help you."
Both demonesses reacted immediately.
Lithara opened a slow smile, and the lust aura that had already been noticeable earlier began appearing around her again.
"After I finally get what I deserve, putting a few demons in line will be easy."
Persephone raised an eyebrow.
Lithara continued, now clearly pleased with herself.
"I have several ideas. The succubus clans will probably recognize me quickly, and the ones who don’t can learn in other ways. I also know a few old families from here. If they still exist, I can get support before I even start beating anyone."
Thana looked at her.
"That was surprisingly useful."
"I’m a Succubus Queen, not just a sexually frustrated woman."
Persephone took a moment before answering.
"So far you’ve demonstrated the second part much more."
Lithara placed a hand over her chest.
"That was cruel."
Albedo, meanwhile, did not seem interested in discussing strategy at that moment. Her eyes remained fixed on Strax as she answered with complete calm:
"I will accept whatever Master wants."
Persephone watched her for a few seconds.
"Does that apply to the mission or the earlier part?"
Albedo turned red.
Lithara started laughing.
Strax decided not to prolong the conversation. He approached the two of them and wrapped one arm around each woman’s waist, pulling Lithara and Albedo against his sides. Lithara immediately settled against him without resistance, while Albedo took a few seconds to process the contact before completely relaxing.
Strax looked at Persephone.
"I’ll be back later."
Persephone noticed the spatial distortion before she could finish her next sentence.
"Wait, you need to know where I want you to—"
Strax disappeared.
Lithara disappeared with him.
Albedo too.
The demonic energy contracted where the three had been standing, leaving behind only small black particles that vanished a few seconds later.
Persephone remained with one hand raised.
Silence.
She looked at the empty space.
Then at Thana.
"He did it again."
Thana remained still.
"He did."
"I wasn’t finished."
"Does he normally wait for you to finish?"
Persephone thought about it.
"No."
"Then I don’t know why you’re surprised."
The Regent of Tartarus let her hand fall and walked toward one of the nearby chairs. She sat down slowly, still staring at the gigantic hole in her palace wall. In only a few hours, Strax had arrived in Tartarus, discovered that Hades was dead, demanded his soul, dragged the Goddess of Death through the Bottom, tamed Cerberus through violence, made the guardian develop three different elements, devoured the heart of the former King of the Underworld, destroyed the Helm of Darkness to forge a gauntlet, and now returned to Asgard promising to bring an army.
Persephone massaged her temples.
"Is he always like this?"
Thana thought for a few seconds.
"I’ve known him since today."
"Great."
"But probably."
Persephone let out a long sigh.
Thana walked toward the hole in the wall and looked out over Tartarus’s dark horizon. The farthest regions remained quiet. The Titans were still imprisoned. And the ancient demonic clans probably did not even know yet that Hades’s death had completely changed the balance of that world.
That would not last long.
"We should start preparing," Thana said.
Persephone looked up.
"For the Titans?"
"Those too."
Thana crossed her arms while continuing to watch the depths.
"When that man comes back, we’re going to have a lot of living problems to manage."
Persephone looked once more at the pulverized wall.
Then at the place where Strax had disappeared.
"I have a feeling the dead are going to be less trouble."
A spatial rift tore open above one of the outer platforms of Asgard’s main mansion, briefly spilling out that cold, heavy energy characteristic of Tartarus. Strax stepped through first—his new black gauntlet still covering part of his arm—followed by Lithara and Albedo. The moment their feet touched Asgardian soil, the contrast between the two worlds became stark. The air was lighter, the sky was clear, and in the distance, trains crisscrossed the districts; the city carried on with its routine as if its ruler hadn’t just returned after devouring a god’s heart.
Strax took a deep breath.
"Finally home."
He didn’t even manage to take a second step.
Lithara grabbed his left hand.
Albedo held his right.
Strax stopped.
The two women exchanged a glance that lasted less than a second, and any pretense of dignity vanished instantly. Lithara broke into a brazenly pleased grin, while Albedo—though blushing—held his hand firmly enough to make it clear she had no intention of backing down this time.
"Let’s have sex!" they said, practically in unison.
