Desolate Devouring Art

Chapter 1865 - Refining the Divine Metal Core

Liu Wuxie had already raced around the golden mountain and plunged into the depths beyond it. There, he discovered the passage leading toward the heart.

The cultivators pouring through the shattered gate immediately swarmed toward the colossal golden mountain, only to find countless cracks covering its surface. At the same time, the divine metal force within it was steadily dispersing.

Only a faint residue of divine metal force remained, and it could not compare even to the Metalline Stones harvested outside.

"The Divine Metal Core is gone," one of the surrounding cultivators exclaimed.

Many cultivators rushed around the golden mountain and discovered the passage carved behind it. Their search also confirmed that the Divine Metal Core had vanished completely.

"Damn it! Liu Wuxie must have taken it," people exclaimed.

As more cultivators flooded through the gate, fury tightened their fists upon realizing the Divine Metal Core had already been claimed.

Despite the presence of countless experts, a mere True Immortal had seized the treasure before any of them. Frustration and fury swept through the crowd, and many cultivators wished they could tear Liu Wuxie limb from limb.

Jealousy had always been part of human nature, especially when Profound Immortals regarded True Immortals as insignificant ants.

"Young Master, what should we do now?" the Shen Clan disciples asked anxiously, turning toward Shen Can.

News that Liu Wuxie had obtained the Divine Metal Core was disastrous for them.

The Shen Clan and Zhu Clan had thoroughly investigated his background during this period. Although they had discovered nothing useful beyond his sudden appearance a few months ago, they confirmed that he had only been at the Heavenly Immortal Realm then. In an astonishingly short span, he had already climbed into the True Immortal Realm.

If Liu Wuxie continued growing at such a pace, he would become a tremendous threat.

"Leave three people here to collect the golden mountain. Everyone else, follow me," Shen Can ordered without hesitation.

Although the Divine Metal Core was gone, a formidable divine metal force still lingered within the mountain. If the Shen Clan could transport it outside, the remains would retain immense value.

Meanwhile, Liu Wuxie continued onward with the Divine Ninefold Step. His speed had already surpassed that of ordinary profound immortals. Without this footwork immortal art, his pursuers would have captured him long ago.

Blazing flames surged toward Liu Wuxie the instant he passed through a narrow passage. Their appearance further confirmed that he had entered the region of the heart.

The Lung Palace corresponded to the metal attribute, while the heart palace corresponded to the fire attribute.

As soon as Liu Wuxie stepped into the heart, raging flames nearly roasted him alive. Fiery-crimson rock formed the ground, releasing sharp sizzling sounds beneath every footstep and making him feel as though he were walking across red-hot iron.

Liu Wuxie circulated ice-attribute energy to counteract part of the heat. Only then did the atmosphere around him become bearable.

He immediately surveyed the region. His most urgent priority was finding a safe location to refine the Divine Metal Core.

Once Liu Wuxie advanced to the eighth-level True Immortal Realm, his combat strength would undergo a drastic transformation. By then, he could even confront first-level Profound Immortals directly.

Among the five elements, earth embodied immense weight, metal possessed the sharpest edge, water offered the greatest flexibility, wood governed healing, and fire wielded the greatest destructive force. Every element carried a distinct nature.

Refining the Divine Metal Core would completely transform the Heavenly Crest Divine Blade Art. Liu Wuxie would finally be able to unleash the full might of Mountain Blade, its second form. He could scarcely imagine the terrifying power that would erupt if he combined Instant Flash with Mountain Blade.

Liu Wuxie swept his gaze across the surroundings. The entire region was half-oval, closely resembling a human heart.

As he ventured deeper, countless crimson meridians emerged and intertwined in every direction. The sight made it immediately clear that finding a safe place would be difficult.

No volcanoes, mountain ranges, lakes, or rivers existed anywhere. Only an endless sea of fire stretched across the region.

Liu Wuxie selected an exceptionally thick meridian and slipped inside. The passage measured roughly five meters in diameter, yet it was still far from the largest meridian within the heart.

Several swift leaps carried Liu Wuxie into the meridian's depths. The heart contained far more meridians than the lungs, and their arrangement was vastly more intricate.

Boundless flames filled every passage. Liu Wuxie needed to remain vigilant at all times because fire could erupt from the walls without warning. These were no ordinary flames, but heartfire capable of incinerating everything in the world.

Liu Wuxie activated Ghost Pupil and searched for the pericardium. If he concealed himself there, Shen Can and the others would struggle to find him even after entering the heart.

The pericardium possessed a peculiar structure with only one entrance and one exit. As long as Liu Wuxie sealed the entrance, he could complete his breakthrough and depart through the exit afterward.

As more cultivators poured into the heart and witnessed the boundless flames, their suspicions hardened into certainty. They had truly entered the internal world of a primordial giant.

"Young Master, Liu Wuxie appears to have hidden himself."

The heart was much smaller than the lungs, but its scale still defied imagination. Searching for one person inside it was no different from hunting for a needle in a haystack.

The lungs had been open and relatively unobstructed, making them easier to search. The heart was completely different. Countless meridians twisted through it like an endless mass of tangled vines, making a thorough search impossible.

"Third Uncle, take several men and search for Liu Wuxie. Everyone else will come with me," Shen Can ordered after briefly examining the terrain and deciding to divide their forces.

"Very well. The heart must contain a Divine Fire Core. Young Master, if you obtain it, you can reach the pinnacle of the Origin Immortal Realm before long," Shen Can's Third Uncle replied with a nod.

The surrounding cultivators froze upon hearing his words. Shen Can clearly displayed cultivation only at the pinnacle of the Profound Immortal Realm, so why had his Third Uncle spoken as though he were already an Origin Immortal? Had Shen Can concealed his true cultivation and deceived the Ancient Origin Spatial Realm?

As a monstrous prodigy of the Shen Clan, Shen Can had reached the Origin Immortal Realm several years ago. He had entered the Ancient Origin Spatial Realm by using a special artifact to conceal his true cultivation and suppress it to the pinnacle of the Profound Immortal Realm, successfully deceiving the realm's laws.

The fifty-odd Shen Clan experts quickly divided into two groups. Shen San led one group to search for Liu Wuxie, while Shen Can guided the other toward the Divine Fire Core.

Since divine metal force existed within the lungs, it was only natural that the heart likely contained a Divine Fire Core.

Liu Wuxie, however, had not attempted to search for it after entering the heart. He chose to break through first, knowing that the Divine Fire Core had to lie within the heart's most dangerous region and would not be easy to obtain.

After searching for nearly an hour, Liu Wuxie finally located the pericardium. Its structure matched his expectations, and its entrance was far narrower than the surrounding meridians.

He slipped through the opening and entered an oval chamber resembling a gigantic flower bud, closing around him. Liu Wuxie immediately planted array flags across the entrance and constructed layer after layer of spiritual arrays over the barrier. With those defenses in place, even an Origin Immortal would struggle to break through in a short time.

After completing the preparation, Liu Wuxie sat cross-legged and began circulating the Desolate Devouring Art.

Without warning, the dormant heart awakened. Terrifying waves of fire-attribute energy surged through the meridians and poured into the pericardium. Flames gathered around Liu Wuxie and transformed into fire crows that swooped toward him, intent on reducing him to ashes.

Liu Wuxie summoned the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron to devour the fire-attribute energy without restraint. Once absorbed, every strand flowed into the Fire Realm and nourished it.

He then retrieved the Divine Metal Core and separated a portion to refine into the Divine Penta Elemental Bolt. Encountering the Shen Clan and Zhu Clan was inevitable. Only the Divine Penta Elemental Bolt could guarantee his safety, so he needed to craft it regardless of the cost.

The moment Liu Wuxie cast the remaining Divine Metal Core into the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron, a tremendous eruption of divine metal force nearly shattered the cauldron.

Countless holes tore through Liu Wuxie's body in the blink of an eye, leaving him in a gruesome state. The unity with heaven and earth swiftly repaired every injury, revealing its profound power. Even if only one of Liu Wuxie's arms remained, he could still regenerate his entire body.

"What a terrifying Divine Metal Core," Liu Wuxie muttered.

Only his formidable physique allowed him to endure the backlash. The immense energy would have torn any ordinary cultivator apart.

Countless demonic chains erupted from the depths of the Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron. At the same moment, the Purgatory Palace stirred and descended with overwhelming pressure. Suppressed beneath that force, the Divine Metal Core shattered into countless pieces before dissolving into golden liquid that flowed throughout the cauldron.

That golden liquid was the core's true treasure, containing an astonishing quantity of divine metal force. Even a single drop possessed immeasurable value, yet Liu Wuxie now held an entire vat.

"Desolate Devouring Art! Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron! Heavenly Dao Book! Circulate," Liu Wuxie roared, determined to complete his breakthrough as quickly as possible.

Since evolving into the Life and Death Transformation phase, the Desolate Devouring Art's devouring speed had risen even further.

The Sky Devouring Divine Cauldron had likewise undergone a qualitative transformation after Liu Wuxie had entered the celestial realm. Its demonic flames had become far purer than before.

The Heavenly Dao Book remained at the center, protecting the entire process and repairing Liu Wuxie's body if anything went wrong during the refinement.

When all three forces emerged together, even the surrounding heartfire recoiled.

The power radiating from Liu Wuxie had surpassed immortal power. It was a divine force.

As more cultivators entered the heart, Wei Wenbin, Shen Chao, and Jiang Hongran appeared among them.

"I didn't expect Liu Wuxie to be here. This is the perfect opportunity for us," Wei Wenbin said, his expression turning sinister.

He believed that killing Liu Wuxie would not only grant them the Divine Metal Core but might also give them a chance to return to the Azure Flame Dao Hall.

"We can't afford to underestimate him," Jiang Hongran warned. "Liu Wuxie is full of schemes, so we need to move carefully."

After being defeated by Liu Wuxie several times, Jiang Hongran had grown deeply wary of his cunning.

"What is there to fear? Che Yangrong and the others died only because Ye Linghan was present," Wei Wenbin said, dismissing the warning. "Now Liu Wuxie is alone. We can crush him to death with one hand."

Neither Nangong Shan nor Che Yangrong had died at Liu Wuxie's hands. Ye Linghan had killed them.

Shen Chao and Jiang Hongran nodded in agreement. If they encountered Liu Wuxie, they would give him no opportunity to speak and kill him immediately.

Large numbers of cultivators poured into the meridians and began searching for the Divine Fire Core.

Shen San led the Shen Clan experts through the meridian network, steadily approaching the pericardium. The pericardium was the only relatively safe hiding place within the heart. Had Liu Wuxie concealed himself inside another meridian, passing cultivators would have inevitably discovered him.

The Zhu Clan had also dispatched experts to hunt Liu Wuxie, led by a man in his thirties.

"Young Master, we can't let the Shen Clan claim the Divine Fire Core before us," the Zhu Clan disciples surrounding the man urged.

The man was Zhu Li, son of Zhu Chaoyang, patriarch of the Zhu Clan. He wasn't as talented as Shen Can, but his methods were far more vicious.

Although the Shen Clan and Zhu Clan were allies, rivalry still defined many of their dealings. The Ancient Origin Spatial Realm was no exception. Neither clan wished to watch the other surpass it, and whichever side secured the treasures first would gain the advantage.

"Shen Can thinks far too highly of himself. Does he honestly believe the Divine Fire Core will be that easy to find?" Zhu Li said, sneering.

He immediately led the Zhu Clan experts into the meridians. They had also divided into two groups, one assigned to hunt Liu Wuxie and the other tasked with locating the Divine Fire Core.

Inside the pericardium, flames continued to flow into Liu Wuxie's body and resonate with the divine metal energy. Metal was weak against fire, and Liu Wuxie was using the fire-attribute energy to accelerate the refinement of the Divine Metal Core.
