Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau
Chapter 863 - 431: So What If That’s the Case? (Third Update)Chapter 863: Chapter 431: So What If That’s the Case? (Third Update)
Noticing someone coming in, Richard Stetford and Aiden Sheldon simultaneously looked up.
A man and a woman entered side by side; the man was tall and charming, the woman was tall and radiant, looking quite compatible.
Richard Stetford had no impression of Lawrence Winters, but Aiden Sheldon instinctively frowned.
"Dad, brother-in-law, sis." Evan Stetford greeted the people in the living room with a smile, then introduced, "This is Lawrence Winters; she’s here traveling, and I have something to discuss with her, so I specifically invited her home for lunch."
Richard Stetford squinted slightly, smiling, "So it’s Miss Winters, a pleasure, a pleasure."
He knew Lawrence Winters’ name, it was just that seeing her in person was unexpected.
"Hello, Mr. Stetford." Lawrence Winters greeted Richard Stetford but ignored Aiden Sheldon and Autumn Stetford.
Autumn Stetford finally looked up from her phone, glanced at her, and frowned just like Aiden Sheldon.
Richard Stetford laughed, took the cigar pipe from his mouth, and stood up, saying, "You’re the first lady Evan brought home for lunch. Come, Evan, let’s go to the kitchen and tell the chef what kind of food Miss Winters likes."
"Mr. Stetford is too polite, I’ll eat anything, no need to make anything special for me." Lawrence Winters hastily waved her hand.
"Hahaha... How can that be, since you’re here, you must eat well and have fun." Richard Stetford said as he walked over to Evan Stetford and looked at him.
Evan Stetford smiled, "Yes, it’s only right, Dad is thoughtful as always."
He gave Lawrence Winters a look, "Lawrence, sit wherever you like, we’ll be right back."
Richard Stetford and Evan Stetford left the living room and headed towards the kitchen.
On the way, Richard Stetford asked Evan Stetford, "You went out for a while, how did things go? How did you meet Miss Winters?"
Evan Stetford laughed and said, "It’s a coincidence, Grant Branch mentioned that the domestic female wizard involved in ’hired murder’ turned out to be Lawrence. You know, I’m an old acquaintance of hers, she was my agent before, and I know her well; she’s definitely not the kind to kill over a disagreement."
Speaking this, he recounted the whole story to Richard Stetford, even showing him the video of the gunman "recognizing people," as well as the photos of Lawrence Winters previously setting up a stall on Fortune-telling Street, which were provided by Grant Branch.
Richard Stetford looked through them carefully, then laughed, "So it’s her? This girl is indeed clever. You see her previous look and her current attire; if you’re not particularly familiar, you wouldn’t recognize her at all."
Evan Stetford remembered the first time he saw her in the streets of Chinatown and didn’t recognize her, laughed, "Yes, even just looking at her hair is misleading. She used to have short hair, and now it’s long."
This is purposefully giving a visual impact.
As for why her short hair suddenly turned long overnight, of course, those indistinguishable wigs played a part.
Richard Stetford glanced once and knew what had happened, laughing, "Then how did she stir up Grant Branch’s hornet’s nest? I suppose Grant Branch got quite a setback this time?"
Evan Stetford laughed even more, "Yes, how did she stir up Grant Branch’s hornet’s nest? Maybe because she’s quite mischievous... She’s a disciple of the Zhang Branch."
Richard Stetford realized, "So that’s it. I thought the Zhang Branch folks were keeping themselves out of this, not getting involved."
"... I haven’t investigated why she suddenly came here, but Edward Foster probably knows." Evan Stetford said, "I’ll ask him."
"Hmm, ask him. But bringing her home for a meal, what are you planning?" Richard Stetford knew his son well, and it certainly wasn’t a spur-of-the-moment decision.
Evan Stetford said, "... I want her to participate in the Celestial Path Sect World Championship; she happens to want to participate, so it works out. So, I brought her home to meet you, to get your approval ideally."
His approach pleased Richard Stetford greatly, even beyond his expectations.
Having his own ideas but also fully respecting the opinion of him as the elder.
Richard Stetford held one hand behind his back, the other gripping the cigar pipe, laughing heartily, "Whatever you want to do, of course, I’ll support you. You’re my son, my only son; if I don’t support you, then who will I support?"
Evan Stetford’s lips curled slightly.
He certainly wasn’t Richard Stetford’s only son, but he was the only one legally recognized.
In many foreign countries, non-marital children aren’t viewed the same as marital children; legally, they don’t have equal inheritance rights.
