Adeline’s pov~
As I pushed open the grand, heavy oak doors and stepped into the RDC court, a wave of cold, heavy air hit me.
The Royal Disciplinary Committee.
The one place in this whole damn academy where rules were written in stone and enforced with blood. This was where they put wolves on trial for restricted activities, which include transforming inside the lecture halls, except on the ground, using dark arts, or committing unsanctioned violence.
No violence inside the academy. That was the primary law here.
So... am I really about to get thrown out of the academy just for slicing Logan’s pathetic wrist in broad daylight?
My hands rested deep in my hoodie pockets.
Throw me out? Let them fucking try.
I had no regrets. Not a single one. If I had to go back to that moment in the lecture hall, I’d slice deeper. I’d cut his goddamn nerve.
I scanned the room as my shoes clicked softly against the cold stone floor.
A massive U-shaped wooden table dominated the centre of the court. On the left side, the transfers sat smug and untouchable. Chloe sat right in the middle, flanked by Logan on her left and Lucas on her right.
I ignored their glares and walked over to the right side, pulled out a chair at a random centre of the right wing and sat down.
I didn’t care about their royal presence, nor did I care that the three highborn seats at the very front were still completely empty—meaning the head committee members hadn’t even arrived yet.
The second I settled into my seat, Chloe leaned back, tilting her head with that insufferable, fake-sweet expression. A nasty, triumphant smirk stretched across her glossy lips.
"So," Chloe purred, her voice dripping with sympathy, "are you here to beg us for mercy now, Adeline?"
She asked it like she had already won.
Like she was sitting on a throne, holding my whole life in her manicured hands.
Did she honestly think I was terrified? Did she think I was going to cry and drag myself across the floor to kiss her shoes?
I looked her dead in the eye and spoke a single, flat word that instantly wiped that filthy smirk right off her face.
"No."
Lucas’s jaw clenched hard, his Alpha aura flaring in immediate irritation as he slammed a heavy fist onto the wooden table.
"Adeline, this is not the fucking attitude you should have when you’re pulling all these pathetic, desperate stunts!" Lucas spat, his voice laced with pure, aggressive arrogance as he leaned over the table, his eyes blazing with fury.
"Do you think we’re fucking blind? Do you really think anyone here is stupid enough to fall for this act? You’re starting fights, flashing silver, and pulling all this damn drama for one reason and one reason only—just so we’ll look at you! Just so we’ll finally notice you and take you back into the pack, aren’t you? You’re starving for attention, craving the protection you lost, and it’s fucking embarrassing!"
He let out a harsh, mocking growl.
"But let me get one thing straight through your thick head right now. There is no damn way in hell we are ever taking you back into the pack if you keep acting like a psychotic, unhinged lunatic! You mean nothing to us anymore, Adeline. Nothing!"
Take me back into the pack?
My mind recoiled in pure disgust. Are these bastards seriously this delusional? Do they actually believe I give a single fuck about their miserable, pathetic pack?
A dark, venomous laugh nearly tore out of my chest at the sheer, delusional absurdity overflowing from his mouth.
He actually stood there believing I gave a single, solitary fuck about his pathetic pack, as if I were sitting here starving for his attention, begging like a dog for scraps at a table I had already burned to the fucking ground.
Funny...
Chloe placed a delicate hand on Lucas’s tense arm, holding him back, before turning to me with wide, mock-pitying eyes that glistened with artificial concern.
"Lucas, please, let me handle this," Chloe murmured sweetly, her voice dripping with calculated sympathy before her gaze hardened, flashing with pure, concentrated venom as she locked onto me.
"Listen to me, Adeline. If you get down on your knees right now, beg for forgiveness, and apologise to both Logan and Lucas... and if you pack your pathetic little bags and get the fuck out of this academy before sunrise... then we might actually consider letting this slide without destroying whatever worthless life you have left."
I didn’t even let her finish her sentence. I leaned forward, resting my forearms flat on the wood, my voice dropping into a razor-sharp tone.
"Chloe, will you just shut the fuck up for five minutes?" I hissed, my dark eyes boring straight into hers with pure, unadulterated disgust. "Every time you open your pathetic mouth, the sound of your shrill, fake-ass voice makes me so fucking sick to death, and I literally want to throw up all over this court."
Chloe flinched hard, her eyes flashing with pure rage for a fraction of a second before she quickly masked it, her lower lip trembling as she retreated into her helpless, innocent act.
"Adeline, you are taking this way too fucking far!" Logan roared, stepping up to defend her, his dark eyes glaring at me like he wanted to rip my head off my shoulders. His Alpha aura surged, heavy and suffocating in the enclosed archive.
"She was just trying to help your dumb ass out of the deep shit you created! You’re standing on the absolute edge of getting expelled, and your useless, defective brain still can’t comprehend how fucked you actually are!"
A slow, cold smile crept onto my face as Logan raged, his veins bulging against his neck. I slowly let my dark gaze drop from his furious, flushed face down to his right hand resting flat on the table.
There it was.
My sweet little gift for him.
His wrist was tightly wrapped in white bandages, but dark, ugly black lines seeped right through the fabric, outlining the deep scratches my silver blade had left behind.
The silver burn was doing its job—scorching straight through his Alpha regeneration, poisoning his blood and forcing the wound to close agonisingly slowly over long hours.
He was in sheer, unadulterated agony right now, every twitch of his fingers sending raw fire up his forearm, and every single second of that lingering, burning pain was a direct gift from me.
I lifted my eyes back up, ignoring Logan’s heavy breathing entirely and locking my gaze straight on Chloe’s pale, trembling face.
"I know what you’re doing, Chloe," I said smoothly.
