Devouring Soul Emperor

Chapter 449 - 449: Shaking Off

Previously, the Saint Extreme Sect's side, including Mu Xiaoxiao, had nine experts in the Celestial Spirit Realm.

The Celestial Sword Sect, on the other hand, had only eight.

They were all Level Seven Martial Spirits. Having one extra person was a decisive advantage, not to mention they also had Chu Qingyun, who was nearly as strong as a Level Seven Martial Spirit himself.

But the situation now was...

On the Saint Extreme Sect's side, Mu Xiaoxiao and Chu Qingyun had left. Zhou Wushang had then sent two Celestial Spirit Realm experts to hunt them down, leaving them with only six.

The Celestial Sword Sect, however, had only sent one person out. They still had seven Celestial Spirit Realm experts, which meant they now outnumbered the Saint Extreme Sect!

As this realization dawned on them, the expressions of the Saint Extreme Sect members turned grim.

Inwardly, their resentment for Zhou Wushang grew.

It was all because of him. He had once again put his personal vendetta against Chu Qingyun before the sect's interests, leading to this situation and dragging them all down with him.

Zhou Wushang, for his part, was also extremely frustrated.

He had considered the matter from every angle and thought his plan was foolproof. The one thing he hadn't accounted for was Huo Yuguang's group interfering.

Huo Yuguang, on the other hand, was ecstatic.

He had assumed that killing Chu Qingyun would be incredibly difficult with the Saint Extreme Sect protecting him. He never expected them to fall into infighting; it was a massive windfall he'd gotten for free.

But what was done was done. It was impossible to change anything now.

And so the two groups continued deeper into the Blood Sect ruins, one with grim faces, the other in high spirits.

After leaving the main group, Chu Qingyun saw Mu Xiaoxiao and Dai following him and couldn't help but give a wry smile. "Why did you two follow me?"

"Hmph! Do you take me for some disloyal person? I told you I'd have your back in Blood Abyss City," Mu Xiaoxiao said, lifting her chin slightly.

Dai chimed in with a goofy laugh. "Heh heh heh, Big Brother is a good person. They're all bad people."

Hearing this, Chu Qingyun felt a mix of exasperation and warmth. At least his sacrifice—giving up a direct path to the Saint Extreme Sect to enter these ruins with them—hadn't been for nothing.

Experts of the Martial Spirit Realm were incredibly fast, even when not deliberately trying to be.

The trio quickly vanished from the Saint Extreme Sect's line of sight. They hadn't gone much further when both Chu Qingyun and Mu Xiaoxiao's expressions suddenly turned grave.

They both sensed it at the same time: someone was following them!

And the two auras were very familiar—they were clearly the men from the Qianshui Dynasty, sent by Zhou Wushang!

A cold glint flashed in Chu Qingyun's eyes. "Two Celestial Spirit Realm experts. Zhou Wushang really is ruthless..."

"Hmph. Just two Level Seven Martial Spirits. Give me five minutes, and I can definitely take one of them down. You and Dai shouldn't have any problem keeping the other one busy, right?" A cold look also crossed Mu Xiaoxiao's face.

Although Chu Qingyun had severely wounded Huo Yuguang before, that was only because Huo Yuguang had underestimated him and hadn't used any of his Secret Techniques.

Otherwise, even with the Thunder Sword, Chu Qingyun might not have been able to defeat him.

However, if he and Dai teamed up, they could do more than just keep one busy—it wouldn't even be impossible for them to kill a Level Seven Martial Spirit.

Dai had never shown his strength, so Zhou Wushang and the others had no idea how formidable he truly was.

However, just as they were preparing to fight, another Level Seven Martial Spirit's aura appeared behind them. It was someone from the Dark Moon Dynasty!

"Three Level Seven Martial Spirits... Now we're in trouble!"

The expressions on Chu Qingyun and Mu Xiaoxiao's faces changed drastically.

Just then, Chu Qingyun suddenly recalled that when he had first met Mu Xiaoxiao, she had been hiding her aura, pretending to be a Level Six Martial Spirit.

"Mu Xiaoxiao, do you and Dai know the Hidden Qi Technique?" Chu Qingyun asked.

Mu Xiaoxiao nodded. "We both do. Don't tell me you...?"

The three paused for a moment, then simultaneously used the Hidden Qi Technique, concealing all of their auras. They burst out at full speed, but instead of charging straight towards the central mountain range of the ruins, they took a wide detour and headed up the mountain from another direction.

Their three pursuers had just met up and were speaking to each other warily when the auras of their quarry suddenly vanished completely.

"Damn it, it's the Hidden Qi Technique!"

"After them!"

The expressions of the three Celestial Spirit Realm experts changed drastically as they shot forward in pursuit.

But after chasing toward the Central Mountain Range for over half an hour, they hadn't seen a single soul...

For some unknown reason, the survivors of the Blood Sect had all vanished without a trace within the seal of these ruins.

Whatever they left behind certainly wouldn't be gathered in one place, easy for the taking.

Throughout the ruins, up and down the mountain, there were all sorts of buildings, including main halls, side halls, residences, and even thatched huts and pavilions.

Any one of these buildings could hold forgotten treasures.

If you were lucky enough, you might even stumble upon a Storage Ring just lying on a path and claim the treasures within.

But one thing was certain: somewhere in these ruins, there had to be a place of utmost importance—a vault for the Blood Sect's various Secret Manuals and Secret Techniques!

For any sect, a vast and diverse collection of Secret Manuals and Secret Techniques was its very foundation, its highest priority.

Only with a large enough library of Secret Manuals and Secret Techniques could a sect ensure that every genius could find a suitable path. This was the only way to continuously cultivate a new generation of experts.

All sects would store such important items together, protecting them with various Array Restrictions and guarding them with many powerful experts.

The Blood Sect had been gone for over two thousand years. Its experts were surely all dead, and its Array Restrictions must have decayed as their power faded over time.

But the Secret Manuals and Secret Techniques themselves would not have been destroyed by the passage of time.

That most important location was, without a doubt, the true objective for the three major powers: the Celestial Sword Sect, the Saint Extreme Sect, and the No-Life Gang!

However, now that Chu Qingyun's trio had split off, they didn't need to concern themselves with that.

Having shaken off their three Celestial Spirit Realm pursuers, the trio began heading up the mountain from a different direction.

Along the way, they came across some buildings like side halls, but the grounds outside were littered with the corpses of humans and Demon Beasts. It was obvious these places had already been plundered, so they didn't linger.

After about ten more minutes of climbing, a huge figure suddenly shot out from the side, blocking their path.

"A Tier Three Demon Beast—a Fire Cloud Lion," Mu Xiaoxiao identified it at a glance. "An adult's strength is comparable to an expert in the Earth Spirit Realm."

"Leave it to me!"

Chu Qingyun activated his Profound Celestial Divine Pattern and charged. After dodging a blast of Flame from the Fire Cloud Lion, he plunged his sword into its head.

Then, the Devouring Power burst out from his hand, rapidly devouring the Primordial Power and flesh within the Fire Cloud Lion's body.
