The Witch Association first initiated the once-every-century chief meeting, the "Witch Gathering," with ten out of the twelve chief "witches" sending their avatars to attend.
As the true President of the Witch Association was still in the midst of a long retreat, aiming to break through from the epic level to that of a saint, the meeting was chaired by the second-ranking in power, the Grand Mage Finn, as has been the case for the past century.
The agenda of the meeting was simple: to discuss how to respond to this sudden crisis from the divine spirits.
As the meeting’s host, Finn was the first to put forward his ideas. He called for all the magical towers to unite their high-end power, with everyone gathering at the Witch City to collectively defend against the divine.
This way, even if other territories were lost, the most important Witch City could likely still be preserved.
As expected, this proposal did not receive any approval from the other chiefs.
To the chiefs of the witches, the value of their own magic towers was even greater than that of their partners and progeny, providing the entire guarantee of their power and safety.
Asking them to leave their towers to defend the Witch City was nothing short of an unfunny joke.
The meeting lasted a whole day and night, but ultimately yielded no useful consensus as the chiefs dismissed their avatars.
While it could not be said to have ended unhappily, the meeting did at least reach a fallback consensus—to express protest to the invaders as much as possible, within limited means.
Finn, as Vice President, had guessed this outcome from the very start.
Initially claiming to be a "mutual aid alliance" at its formation, the Witch Association nowadays was merely a loosely organized entity with little cohesion.
Even were the true President to appear, the constraints on the other witch chiefs would be minimal.
For such an organization, it takes the actual arrival of a true crisis to unite and burst forth with astonishing survival instincts and combat power.
And now, although the God of Sand and Stone exerted considerable pressure, it clearly hadn’t reached that crisis level yet.
Nevertheless, none of the witch chiefs showed any intention of defecting; upon returning to their respective towers, they began their resistance as agreed.
Almost simultaneously, the key towers of all territories controlled by the Witch Association activated their magical defense barriers at the same time, choosing to expend large reserves of resources to resist the erosion of wind and sand.
Through their actions, they silently declared their stance.
The Witch Association was willing to display reverence toward the divine spirits, but with their newfound strength, they no longer wished to kneel at their feet like slaves as in the past.
Predictably, the Northern Kingdom Alliance, possessing the weakest high-end power but the largest population and territory and suffering the greatest impact, reacted the most.
The leadership of the Northern Lands was in a panic.
The kings convened an emergency meeting amongst the high-level officials of each country to jointly discuss how to handle the present crisis.
Some advocated for immediate surrender, offering sacrifices to the divine to ensure the peace of the Kingdom, even if only temporarily.
Others suggested watching and waiting, neither bowing in submission nor provoking, to see what exactly the divine spirits intended to do.
Yet a small number of naive kingdoms crazily suggested using the power of their own Divine Church to mount a counterattack.
Under the immense pressure brought by the divine spirits, the entire meeting descended into chaos from the start, with no kingdom able to keep calm or even reach a minimal consensus.
This is the sorrow of the weak.
For mortal aristocrats, they wield immense power, strength, and wealth, regarded as the so-called elite of humanity.
But, in front of true strength, they appeared insignificant, barely possessing the strength to struggle.
Amidst the chaos, many noticed that the participants from the typically inconspicuous Frost Crystal Kingdom within the Kingdom Alliance were somewhat different.
This time, the delegation was led not by the usual robust and hearty king, but by a tall and slender middle-aged noble.
Though he was impeccably dressed, with carefully groomed hair and beard, it was obvious to discerning eyes that he was deeply exhausted.
His eyes conveyed a weariness that no makeup could completely conceal, along with a heavy sense of despair that emanated from his entire being.
Yet his state of dishevelment did not arouse the suspicions of others, as the current situation was replete with immense pressure.
He appeared just like an ordinary noble, plagued by anxiety and unrest due to the crisis facing his Kingdom.
This middle-aged noble attracted attention because of his hair—a natural head of snow-white hair.
Witnessing that white hair, some couldn’t help recalling a certain unique presence they heard about not long ago through various sources.
There was someone with similarly white hair, but vibrant and much stronger than this world-weary middle-aged figure.
One of the most dazzling figures of this era, belonging to the Sun’s Godslayer.
"If that Godslayer were here now, surely the situation wouldn’t be this dire..."
Someone, upon thinking this, couldn’t control their emotions, let out a sigh, and whispered, "That presence certainly wouldn’t remain indifferent to the current situation, and would surely negotiate with the divine spirits."
