Divine Beast Creator

Chapter 2568 - 2569: Anxiety

"How can data-based Spirit Beasts resist such strange changes? What on earth is going on?"

Gitalien muttered in confusion as he watched the Cast Cubes below battling against the scarlet rifts. Shortly after the mutation occurred, scarlet rifts appeared in Maomu City. However, being a city at the forefront of data domain research, it naturally housed a large number of data-based Spirit Beasts.

Not to mention the Data Spirit Fox, which almost became a Data System Divine Beast, was also here. Thus, the amorphous liquid monsters emerging from the scarlet rifts couldn’t cause much destruction in Maomu City.

The Cast Cubes assembled into a giant azure hammer, persistently hammering away at the amorphous red liquid monsters coming out of the rifts, much like playing whack-a-mole.

Although the monsters possessed immortality, inexplicably, this immortality completely failed to work when faced with data-based ultimate moves.

Gitalien had also ventured into that space and found it completely identical to the special realm Feng Yuan had shown him earlier—or rather, that special realm was spreading in the Main World.

The Sky Blue Plate was in Gitalien’s claw. As for Subspace and domains, Gitalien’s authority was not as strong as Kong Qing’s, which is why he had no choice but to seek him out for help.

Big Cat was down below, helping fend off the monsters constantly emerging from the scarlet rifts.

"It’s been more than half a day already. Shouldn’t we think of a way to rotate shifts? Otherwise, even they won’t be able to handle it."

Yang Hongzhi turned to Qiu Hanmo, inquiring. Although they couldn’t issue orders, Yang Hongzhi’s suggestions would be seriously considered due to his status as a Divine Pact Maker.

"We don’t need to intervene; they’re not that stupid. However, this attack came suddenly and is bizarre..."

Qiu Hanmo looked distantly at the scarlet rift, not letting the Red Fire Team join in the fight. One reason was they didn’t have data-based Spirit Beasts, and another was that he felt something was off.

This attack appeared dangerous, considering the scarlet rift opened right in the city center. Yet, from beginning to end, there were no severe casualties.

Except for some Spirit Beasts in battle getting slightly injured through carelessness, there weren’t any serious injuries. Moreover, this wasn’t unique to Maomu City. According to the intelligence he gathered, almost all cities were experiencing the same.

This attack seemed adaptive, with the attack intensity always matching the city’s defensive strength. Aside from turning into a war of attrition, it was entirely different from attacks on the Imperial Timeline.

Attacks on the Imperial Timeline came with different goals every time, yet they always resulted in significant casualties. In some cities with insufficient defensive forces, there were even massive casualties.

In contrast, Qiu Hanmo felt this was more like a test?

The Divine Beasts also noticed this point, which is why they didn’t interfere. Since although they couldn’t figure out what was happening with that special realm, they knew that domains almost couldn’t be offensive methods of enemy timelines—at least, deploying a spatial domain for invasion was impossible.

Special domains, in a certain sense, were linked to the authority of Divine Beasts.

Gitalien and the others also suspected if this was related to Feng Yuan, considering he often caused various incidents. However, since they couldn’t contact him, they couldn’t confirm.

Just as Yang Hongzhi was about to say something, a clear cracking sound suddenly caught everyone’s attention. Watching the red crystal stone appear where the scarlet rift was, Qiu Hanmo frowned slightly.

"This thing seems a bit familiar..."

Gitalien appeared, placing down Kong Qing before transforming into human form and walking forward. At this point, the Cast Cubes had already retreated. They had no choice; this thing appeared too suddenly and was obviously related to that scarlet rift. They couldn’t dismiss the possibility that this thing was a trap.

As he slowly approached, that familiar feeling came, and Gitalien hesitated for a moment before looking at Kong Qing and saying,

"You should be able to control your emotions?"

Confused, Kong Qing stared back at Gitalien, unsure of what the latter was planning, rubbed his brows, and Gitalien said,

"If I’m not mistaken, this thing should be similar, but why did it appear here?"

Thinking of that shifting stele, Gitalien felt a headache coming on. Without explaining much, once ensuring Kong Qing wouldn’t be swayed by sudden emotions, he let him attempt to contact it.

However, something unexpected happened. As Kong Qing touched the blood-red crystal pillar with the tip of his tail, a red light flashed, and mysterious blood-red patterns appeared on Kong Qing’s body.

Turning towards Gitalien, Kong Qing hissed while recounting his experience. Gitalien regarded the blood-red crystal pillar with an inscrutable expression, saying,

"No need for a test? Is this true generalization? No, no, what exactly is this thing?"

With countless questions, Gitalien decided to leave the matter to Lorraine Tower. Whether to explain to humans or forcibly destroy the crystal stone, he didn’t intend to make the decision himself.

As for now?

Glancing around, Gitalien felt confident that no one else would approach to make contact with this thing at present.

"Who’s tirelessly performing the city-destroying ritual?"

Qi Realm Dou Yanlan’s first reaction was that it was impossible, but reason told her that what Feng Yuan said was very likely to happen. The investigation and research showed that the process of Calamityization always occurred only in human settlements. In other words, from the time this thing appeared, it has always been closely related to humans.

But, they never found the cause. Who would imagine this had been a ritual lasting a thousand years?

"I don’t know, but it might not be intentional by the opposing side, or maybe there are other reasons?"

Feng Yuan shrugged, expressing his uncertainty. He genuinely didn’t understand why someone would keep performing these destructive rituals in cities. What good does it do?

Profit? Revenge? Or mere madness? There were too many possibilities, and even he couldn’t determine.

"There’s one thing I don’t understand. Haven’t we investigated the cities where Calamityization happened? Even during the late stages of Calamityization, we took risks for investigations. But from the start to the end, we never found the person who should have been there."

Recalling something, Qi Realm Dou Yanlan looked at Feng Yuan. This point intrigued her. As a major calamity in the Qi Realm Timeline, they conducted extensive research on Calamityization. Although constrained by strength issues, preventing in-depth understanding at times, she was sure this type of investigation shouldn’t have problems.

"That I don’t know, but perhaps check, theoretically, the most likely should be a special Subspace. However, I believe you’ve prepared for this. Other possibilities are hard to say."

With a shrug, Feng Yuan expressed his lack of understanding about the situation. After all, Calamityization was too unique. If not for the Qi Realm already becoming part of the Main World, Feng Yuan might not have wanted to bother.

Qi Chen leaned in closely to Dou Yanlan, inquiring quietly,

"Why is Feng Yuan so eager to help with the investigation? I’m not saying it’s bad, just that even you in this world shouldn’t have much sway over decisions from above, right?"

Dou Yanlan looked at Qi Chen, chuckling, and shook her head, saying,

"Ah Chen, you’re right, but the Qi Realm has already taken root in our world, becoming an existence like the Data Domain. If one day Calamityization occurs in our world without any understanding, what do you think would happen?"

"I see... that makes sense."

Scratching his head, Qi Chen smiled brightly, looking at Feng Yuan, who was discussing with Qi Realm Dou Yanlan. He hadn’t considered this. His thoughts were still entangled in the confrontation between the Main World and War, and the two branches of the timeline of the Empire. He completely forgot the difference of the Qi Realm’s timeline from the other two timelines.

"Hopefully, it’s not only your timeline."

War Qichen stated calmly, silently observing Feng Yuan and Qi Realm Dou Yanlan. He had some suspicions that the Qi Realm might have also already become a part of his timeline, meaning Calamityization could also appear in the War Timeline.

As for the Imperial Timeline?

Ha, who cares? Not to mention, they’re antagonistic with the Main World. If a Calamity Wave is triggered, it’s possible those in the Main World would applaud.

After some discussion, Qi Realm Dou Yanlan decided to take Feng Yuan and the others around the entire Qi Hua City. Doing so would certainly lead Qi Realm Dou Yanlan to deviate from the patrol areas originally assigned to her.

But after much deliberation, she felt this risk was necessary because, without Feng Yuan’s help, it would be nearly impossible to uncover the truth of Calamityization.
