So far, Davis already knew about the two requirements needed for a magical beast to be able to become a True Exalt Beast.
One was Core Refinement, which any Exalt Beast was capable of doing. They required the cores of the same magical beast species. However, without another core of the same species, it would require millions or billions of years of soul refinement for them to refine their cores.
It was an excruciatingly slow process. Hence, it was likely that magical beasts of the same species would resort to cannibalism or seek to destroy another clan of the same species. He could only imagine what sort of wars take place in the magical beast galaxies.
Still, it didn’t allow them to become a True Exalt Beast unless they were at Emperor-Tier.
Hence, the second requirement was being Emperor-Tier.
It wasn’t only the bloodline they needed, but most importantly, the quintessence imprinted in the Beast Core of an Emperor-Tier that they needed.
As Illumina once said, it led them to their origin and, in other words, becoming a holder of a primordial essence like the Mythical Paragon Magical Beasts once were.
On the other hand, if they were born as an Emperor-Tier Grand Ancestral Magical Beast, they wouldn’t require Core Refinement and wouldn’t need to obtain a Beast Core of another King-Tier or Emperor-Tier Grand Ancestral Magical Beast to increase their chances of breaking through into the True Exalt Beast Stage. They would just innately become a True Exalt Beast as long as they kept their Emperor-Tier Blood and its purity from falling too sharply.
Having the basic knowledge, Davis asked Exawelese Skylov.
After pausing solemnly, she took the time to organize her thoughts before inviting him first to her home.
Clouds shifted in her floating nest, and an emerald palace with faint translucent wing formation revealed itself.
It was a huge palace, clearly built to accommodate a magical beast of her size. The space inside stretched bigger than this floating sea island itself.
Exawelese Skylov had transformed into a human and sat at a tea table in the palace’s main hall. Since the hall was endlessly big, Davis funnily felt minuscule here since there were like only three tiny humans in the middle of the hall. If he were to put it into comparison, it would be like three people having tea in an enclosed room while the people themselves were only the size of a tiny insect, or even smaller.
Nonetheless, he finally caught sight of her human appearance, which he had failed to pay attention to since his gaze had been clouded by Illumina at that time.
Despite being a darkness beast, Exawelese Skylov was just the woman he imagined her to be.
She possessed pale skin, an elegant, gentle face, beautiful elongated brows, and a pair of dark violet eyes that shimmered with emerald sparks. Between her brows, there rested a diamond-shaped jewel. If one looked closely, they could see a miniature black-green tempest swirling within it. Her nose was small and straight, while her sweet lips appeared to be black in shade, unknown if it was natural or painted.
She possessed a pair of black-gold wings similar to Flamerose and Frostrose, but the wings were longer and majestic.
After commenting on the tea and its origin, which Davis didn’t pay attention to while admiring her beauty, she finally got to the point.
"Methods to break into the True Exalt Beast are limited and protected by major powers in the Greater Realm. This is to limit competition in the same magical beast race, prevent a new True Exalt Beast from appearing since it would jeopardize their own growth. Hence, the Cannibalistic Method and the Spirit-Devouring Method are the most common ones. I won’t probe into what you already know. As a form of sincerity, I’ll just tell you what I know."
Exawelese Skylov proceeded to tell him the basics of what he already knew and then spoke further.
"First, apart from the two methods, you can obtain a Quintessence Orb and use it to skip the process of being Emperor-Tier, but Core Refinement is a must. You do not need King-Tier or Emperor-Tier Beast Cores to supplement the chances. Normal beast cores of the same species and stage are more than enough. This method is called the Quintessence Absorption Refinement. However, the number of Quintessence Orbs that are required is at least three, and the purity of the Quintessence Orbs must be at least thirty percent each."
"This brings the overall chances of success of stepping into the True Exalt Beast to twenty-five percent. Hence, each additional Quintessence Orb up to six orbs increases the percentage by twenty-five percent. In other words, having six Quintessence Orbs would provide a complete success rate."
Exawelese Skylov paused for a moment before sighing lightly as though lamenting.
"This could also be considered somewhat of a widespread method, but many don’t know the specifics within, and intentional falsehoods make the rounds every once in a while, causing them to end up failing. They die prematurely when they try to break through and fail in their tribulation."
"I see." Davis nodded, "So the Quintessence Orbs act as a substitute for the Laws that need to be etched into the Beast Core, hence no longer requiring King-Tier or Emperor-Tier Beast Cores."
"That is correct." Exawelese Skylov nodded.
Davis kept nodding in interest. Illumina had also said about these three methods, but she had been vague about the Spirit-Devouring Method and Quintessence Absorption Refinement Method since she herself was unsure. Now, he understood why Quintessence Orbs were unreliable because just one wouldn’t allow them to succeed, and obtaining one was already extremely difficult to do so.
They needed three Quintessence Orbs to have a twenty-five percent chance to succeed and preferably six to increase the chances to near one hundred percent!
Davis possessed a lot of Blood Quintessence Orbs and a few other types, but the purity threshold he was unaware of since he couldn’t measure it and possessed no methods or devices to do so.
Nonetheless, with this method, he was a bit at ease.
He didn’t need to go hunt another King-Tier or Emperor-Tier Deathhowl Revenant Wolf or an Elysian Jadesoul Fox for Nadia and Everlight. He only needed to hunt the normal ones since the Quintessence Orbs substituted for the King-Tier and Emperor-Tier Beast Cores.
Hence, his worries now laid on how to deal with Core Refinement, which now only required normal beasts of similar rank and species rather than tier.
After all, there were no Deathhowl Revenant Wolves or Elysian Jadesoul Foxes as far as he had heard.
If there was one Deathhowl Revenant Wolf, that would be the Patriarch of the Nether Springs Death Wolf Clan, but he was an ally, so it was a no-go.
Hence, he asked, "Does Spirit-Devouring Method help out with Core Refinement?"
