Divine Emperor of Heavenly Destiny

Chapter 461: Killing Intent, the Dark Stab Strikes

The Yan Soul Guards, after carefully chewing over Mo Jing’s assassination list, solemnly accepted their orders.

However, the leader of the Yan Soul Guards asked, "Lord Mo Jing, our presence in the Azure Flame Domain is causing more and more of a stir. When the time comes for our assassinations, I fear Young Master Yan Mu will find out. How will we placate the Young Master?"

Originally, Mo Jing’s only goal was to eliminate Lu Dingtian and Nan Zhuiming as part of the act he was putting on for Young Master Yan Mu. No one in the entire Azure Flame Domain, aside from those two, was ever supposed to know he had been there.

But damn it, now almost everyone knew.

’When Young Master Yan Mu enters the Azure Flame Domain, I’m afraid someone will tell him about all this.’

"We can only stall for now."

"We’ll kill everyone in the Azure Flame Domain who deserves to die, then prop up a few people to control the entire domain. We’ll have them order that no one is to mention our presence. After this battle is won, we’ll take the Young Master back to Yan Soul City."

"If rumors spread later, just say we entered the Azure Flame Domain only to kill people from Red Sword City."

"And we ’accidentally’ killed a few insignificant experts from the Azure Flame Domain."

At this point, Mo Jing’s face was once again filled with indignation...

What was supposed to be a perfectly good show had now made things incredibly difficult for him and all of Yan Soul City. They had to find reasons and excuses to keep deceiving the Young Master, to keep propping him up...

After silently cursing Lu Dingtian and Nan Zhuiming yet again, Mo Jing finally departed, riding his Great Sword-Winged Ice Wolf.

The Yan Soul Guards, meanwhile, looked toward the Great Wu Imperial City...

The leader gently touched the cheek Mo Jing had slapped and said coldly, "Disguise yourselves and enter the city. Time to move!"

Dozens of Yan Soul Guards dismounted their Flying Wolves. They disguised themselves as common citizens of Great Wu and stealthily advanced toward the Great Wu Imperial City. Just as Mo Jing had said, their first target was Chi Xingxun.

The assassination could wait, but if an opportunity presented itself, the Yan Soul Guards would certainly not miss it.

...

In the Great Wu Imperial City, inside Lu Dingtian’s Grand Marshal’s Mansion, Lu Dingtian had already returned with Chi Xingxun and his two men.

The people who had remained in the mansion, of course, also knew that their Grand Marshal had returned, not died.

Just then, someone rushed in to report, "Grand Marshal, Lu Chao has forced Mo Jing to retreat! He’s leading his troops this way now!"

This was the person Lu Dingkong had previously instructed to return and take Lu Hanyang away.

He had been on the verge of taking him away. He, like everyone else, had thought the Grand Marshal was dead, but the Grand Marshal’s sudden return had made him incredibly excited.

And so, of course, Lu Dingtian had sent him out to scout for information.

Before Lu Dingtian could even speak upon hearing the report, Chi Xingxun was the first to stand up. "What a pity. Mo Jing wasn’t willing to stay and take Lu Chao down with him. The shameless coward actually ran away."

"Fine. Then we’ll kill this Azure Flame Sect disciple first and take his woman."

At this, Chi Xingxun suddenly turned to Commander Ke and asked, "Can you still fight?"

Commander Ke’s injuries were not light, all inflicted by Mo Jing earlier. He was still walking with a limp.

But upon hearing this, he smiled faintly and said, "Killing a mere Peak Realm cultivator is still an easy task. However, we can’t be too careless. We must first see how many troops he has with him."

"Also, we must prepare an escape route..."

"Mo Jing has left, but I’m worried he’s still waiting for us outside the city. I’m also worried there are still Yan Soul Guards around. We cannot be careless."

At this point, Commander Ke looked at Lu Dingtian again and asked, "Do you have any soldiers left at your disposal?"

As Commander Ke finished speaking, Lu Dingtian quickly replied...

"Yes. I have a force of about 100,000 men stationed near the Nether Spring Mountain Range in the north of the Great Wu Empire."

"I recalled them a few days ago. They should be arriving soon."

Hearing this, a sharp glint flashed in Commander Ke’s eyes.

He gave a savage grin and said, "One hundred thousand troops... Excellent, excellent... After we kill Lu Chao in one decisive blow, we’ll immediately leave the Great Wu Imperial City, rendezvous with those 100,000 troops, and use them to counter-attack Mo Jing and the Yan Soul Guards."

As he spoke, Commander Ke stood up...

He added with a low chuckle, "Young City Lord, I’ll go out first and check on Lu Chao’s situation. If the opportunity is there, I’ll kill Lu Chao directly."

In a flash, Commander Ke, an expert Above the Creation, vanished from Lu Dingtian’s Grand Marshal’s Mansion.

Meanwhile, Lu Dingtian began to pack his things and secretly contact anyone he still could, preparing to leave the Great Wu Imperial City.

Like Chi Xingxun, he was, of course, eagerly anticipating Lu Chao’s swift death.

...

Meanwhile, Lu Chao was leading several thousand of the Great Wu Empire’s Imperial Guards in a charge toward Lu Dingtian’s Grand Marshal’s Mansion.

Nearby, experts like Yin Ye and members of the Great Wu Royal Family were still moving stealthily in the shadows...

’The last time I left the Grand Marshal’s Mansion, I never imagined I’d one day return like this.’ Lu Chao couldn’t help but feel a surge of emotion, but his expression remained ice-cold, betraying nothing.

And just as he drew closer and closer to Lu Dingtian’s Grand Marshal’s Mansion, his brow suddenly twitched.

He could feel it—a faint killing intent, directed right at him.

As someone who had fused with multiple Heavenly Destiny Bones, spent years on the battlefield, and even died once before, Lu Chao had a natural sensitivity to killing intent. He knew at once that a terrifyingly powerful expert had targeted him.

’It must be him—Commander Ke,’ Lu Chao concluded internally.

At this moment, he was almost certain. The reason Lu Dingtian hadn’t responded to Mo Jing was because of Chi Xingxun’s presence. And this faint killing intent... he could tell it definitely came from someone Above the Creation.

With this thought, Lu Chao immediately made a hand signal...

The signal was for the hidden experts—Yin Ye, the members of the Great Wu Royal Family, and the others at the Transformation Realm and above—to halt and conceal themselves. They couldn’t get any closer to Commander Ke, or he would discover them instantly.

Lu Chao himself, however, continued to advance with his troops. His Dragon General Bone was already stirring, ready to Gather Power for a counter-attack at any moment.

Outwardly, however, Lu Chao appeared no different than before.

And just as he advanced a short distance further...

Suddenly... VMM!

The faint killing intent from before suddenly magnified. An incomparably ferocious True Qi from a being Above the Creation erupted abruptly as a figure shot out from the shadows, filled with powerful Sword intent, slashing straight for Lu Chao.

The figure flashed out from a building along the street, appearing extremely close to Lu Chao.

If Lu Chao didn’t have soldiers by his side, he would have undoubtedly died at his current realm. If he hadn’t detected the killing intent just moments ago, he would have also undoubtedly died.

But the instant the killing intent exploded, Lu Chao had already reacted, shouting, "Gather Power! Fury Dragon Spear Slash!"

BOOM...

The Dragon General Bone mobilized the True Qi from the several thousand Great Wu soldiers, who were already prepared and waiting for Lu Chao’s command.

In that instant, the spear in Lu Chao’s hand and the Sword thrust by his opponent collided heavily.

With a deafening BANG, the ferocious aftershock of True Qi exploded outward!
