Chapter 545: Chapter 545: Mika Summers VS Tristan Grayson (45)

Jason glanced at her indifferently. "What do you think?"

"How am I supposed to know if you don’t tell me?" Jasmine pouted, her voice laced with grievance.

Seeing her like this, how could Jason possibly stay angry with her? Besides, he’d never been a good person, nor had he ever pretended to be a man of compassion.

To him, everyone fell into one of two categories: those he could use, and those who were completely useless.

The idea of him genuinely caring for someone was simply impossible.

He had once witnessed his own sister covered in blood, yet he had still been able to harden his heart and walk away. What chance, then, did this weeping, tiresome little girl have?

"Heh..." Jason’s lips twisted into a cold smirk. He had no intention of discussing the matter with Jasmine any further.

Perhaps Jason’s cold laugh was merely tinged with resignation and self-mockery, but to Jasmine, it meant only one thing: ’He’s angry!’

’He isn’t just angry; he’s furious. That’s why he’s going back to his cold, aloof persona.’

She felt a surge of grievance. She had finally managed to get out and go shopping, and had come to see him in high spirits. But now, for some inexplicable reason, she was the one filled with frustration, and he was treating her with such a detached attitude.

’But then again,’ she thought, ’he’s my man. I have to get him in a good mood. Otherwise, I’ll be the one suffering tonight.’

"Jason, you know damn well that’s not what I think of you." She knew he was a ruthless man. In all the time they’d been together, she’d seen that he never showed a shred of compassion to anyone—except for her.

"If you really don’t want to make me angry, then stop meddling in things that don’t concern you. I’m going to call her stepfather to come and get her right now." As he spoke, Jason gave Jasmine no chance to object, picking up his phone to make the call.

"Come up and get Rory immediately. You have five minutes!"

Jasmine’s mouth, which had opened to protest, snapped shut. She glared at Jason. "What do you think you’re doing?" She had just barely managed to rescue the girl from that stepfather, and now Jason was completely undermining her! So decisively, too! She hadn’t even been holding the child in her arms for ten minutes!

"When we’re together, I don’t like having anyone else around. And I don’t like children." Having made the call, Jason felt a sense of relief, and the dark, oppressive mood from before dissipated completely.

His reasons were so direct and simple that they left Jasmine utterly speechless.

Rory might be young, but she understood the simple conversation perfectly. She knew this lady was the only one who could save her. But with the "bad guy" looming nearby, she didn’t dare say a word. All she could do was burrow deeper into Jasmine’s arms, her small body wracked with pitiful sobs.

"But I like kids!"

"If you like them, we can have our own. We can have as many as you want, and they’ll all be yours to dote on. But the child you’re holding right now has absolutely nothing to do with us."

His words were as sweet as honey to Jasmine’s ears, but she still had to point out, "What do you think I am, a broodmare? ’Have as many as you want’..."

"As long as it makes you happy, I’d be more than willing to provide the seed."

Jason’s ability to joke with such a deadpan, serious expression made Jasmine blush so hard she wished the ground would open up and swallow her whole.
