Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me
Chapter 586 - 584: I’ll Wait for YouChapter 586: Chapter 584: I’ll Wait for You
「The next day, at 10:00 AM, in Tridell Prison.」
"Miss Warren, I think you should just leave."
This was the second time the guard had told her that this morning. She pulled another thousand bucks from her pocket and stuffed it into his hand. "I’m not leaving until I see him today. Please, you have to make him see me."
The guard was about to refuse, but a glance down told him it was a hefty sum. Feigning reluctance, he stuffed the money into his pocket. "Fine, I’ll go try to convince him one more time. But if Mr. Lockwood still refuses to see you, I’m washing my hands of this."
"He will. He’ll definitely come see me. Tell him that if he doesn’t, I’ll walk out of here and get myself run over by a car!"
Her words clearly stunned the guard. He stared at Jasmine Warren as if she were a psychiatric patient. He muttered to himself, ’No wonder Mr. Lockwood refuses to see this woman. She’s clearly a lunatic.’
With Jasmine Warren’s message to deliver, the guard quickly returned, bringing Jason Lockwood with him to see her.
Jasmine Warren watched the once-dashing man approach, now looking so haggard and defeated, and her tears began to stream down her face uncontrollably.
"Jason, are you okay?" she cried, pulling out a chair and sitting down.
Jason Lockwood’s brow furrowed slightly at the sight of her tears. He remained silent, his eyes fixed intently on the woman before him.
’She seems thinner...’
"Jason, I know you’ve been through so much in here, so many injustices. But don’t worry. No matter how difficult it is, I’ll find a way to get you out."
Jason’s expression darkened as he asked coldly, "Didn’t Ash go see you?"
She was crying her heart out and didn’t expect him to ask that. Her sobs hitched, and she looked at the man across from her, a trace of resentment in her eyes. "Would it make you happy to hear that I’d married someone else?"
"Yes," Jason replied coldly after a brief pause.
"Jason Lockwood, you heartless bastard! I gave you my everything, and you want me to marry another man?!!! I’m telling you, I, Jasmine Warren, would rather die than marry someone else!"
A dull ache spread through Jason’s chest, but he forced his expression to remain impassive. "There’s no need for that. After all, there’s nothing between us."
Jasmine Warren slammed her hands on the table and shot to her feet, roaring at Jason, "Nothing between us? You slept with me, and you dare say there’s nothing between us? Fine! Give me back every time you slept with me! The second you do, I’ll leave you for good."
Her words made Jason’s heart sink even further. A cold, cynical smile touched his lips, as if he’d just heard the most ridiculous thing. "It was a simple transaction. I slept with you, and you took the money. So, Jasmine Warren, I don’t owe you a thing."
"Jason Lockwood!" Jasmine straightened up, her hands clenched into tight fists. She stared at him with red-rimmed eyes for a long moment before finally reining in her anger. As if all the fight had gone out of her, she sank back into the chair. "Don’t think you can provoke me into leaving you with words like that."
Jason didn’t respond, but the look in his eyes as he gazed at her grew more complex.
"Jason, you say you don’t owe me anything? Heh. Maybe you don’t realize it, but you’ve stolen something from me. You stole my heart. So, I’m telling you now, Jason Lockwood, you owe me, Jasmine Warren, a heart. A very real, very true heart. There was no transaction involved with this heart. The only thing inside it is you, Jason..."
Jason’s eyes widened in astonishment. At the same time, something deep inside his chest clenched, tightening so painfully that he found it hard to breathe...
"Jason, I think I’ve fallen in love with you. What am I supposed to do? I think I’ve really, truly fallen in love with you. It happened without me even realizing it. After you were gone, I just... I can’t go on by myself. Every day I go back to what was our home, and all I can think about is you. You’re all I can think about! You bastard! You say you don’t owe me anything, but why? Why did you have to steal my heart? Why, Jason? Why did you make me fall in love with you? And why are you so determined to push me away?"
Listening to her sobs and her barrage of questions, Jason felt more than just shock; he was at a complete loss, a sense of panic rising within him.
"Jason, can’t I be with you through this? I’ll wait for you, no matter how many years it takes. I can afford to wait. As long as I, Jasmine Warren, am alive, I will wait for you to get out. Jason, I’m begging you, please stop trying to push me away, okay? Please let me wait for you. Please don’t refuse to see me again."
Jason clenched his fists, using all his strength to suppress the storm of emotions raging inside him. He raised a hand, placed it on the table, and slid it forward, reaching for hers. Seeing his hand move toward her, Jasmine stopped crying, her tear-filled eyes fixed on him.
Jason took both of her hands in his. When he spoke, his voice was thick with hoarseness. "You silly woman."
"Jason, does that mean you agree?" Hearing his words, Jasmine’s tears fell even faster.
"Jasmine, believe me. I, Jason Lockwood, won’t be defeated this easily. I’ll get out of here as soon as I can."
’This is the first time he’s ever called me by my first name.’ Even though the setting was all wrong, she found the Jason of this moment to be so gentle... so gentle it made her heart ache for him.
"Okay. I believe you. I’ll wait for you. No matter how many years it takes, I’ll wait."
Jason frowned and said softly, "Don’t cry anymore. I don’t like seeing women all weepy."
At his words, Jasmine hastily wiped away her tears and managed a smile. "Okay, I won’t cry. As long as you don’t try to make me leave, I won’t cry. Not ever again."
He breathed a small sigh of relief at her promise. But as his eyes swept over her frame, his frown deepened. "Okay, you should go. Take care of yourself. And the next time you come see me, don’t be so painfully thin. It’s awful."
Jasmine fell silent. ’Even though he’s scolding me,’ she thought, ’I’m even more touched.’ He wasn’t as heartless as she’d imagined. He still cared about her. He’d even noticed she’d lost weight.
When she didn’t say anything, Jason spoke again. "If you run into any trouble, go find Ash. I may not be out there anymore, but no one gets to mess with Jason Lockwood’s woman."
His words were as possessively dominant as ever, warming her heart through and through. "I’ll be fine, don’t worry. I’ll take good care of myself. You have to take care of yourself, too."
