Chapter 683: Chapter 675: Changing the Subject

Being teased like this by the little one, Tiana Grayson just wanted to find a hole to crawl into.

Seeing Tiana’s discomfort, Leo Joyce’s heart ached for her. He glanced at Shirley Lockwood in the back seat, who was laughing without a care in the world, and snapped coldly, "Rory, you’ve gone too far!"

"Hmph—" Shirley Lockwood pouted, her laughter fading. She shot Leo Joyce a look of displeasure and snorted, tilting her head back.

’Just as I thought. Now that he has a fiancée, he doesn’t like me anymore.’

Tiana Grayson quietly turned her head, her gaze landing on Leo Joyce as he drove intently. A strange bitterness welled up inside her.

She didn’t understand why he would help her. They didn’t really have any connection, after all.

And now he had Amelia Avery...

The car entered the city. Shirley Lockwood, who had been sulking moments before, had long since pressed her face to the window and started watching the scenery.

When she spotted a side street ahead filled with food stalls, she started to get restless. "Stop the car! Stop the car!"

Leo Joyce had no intention of indulging the little one’s outburst. It was a small lesson for having made fun of Tiana just now.

But when Leo Joyce didn’t stop, Shirley Lockwood rose halfway from her seat and yelled at him, "Stop the car, hubby!"

Leo Joyce’s heart lurched. His hands nearly lost their grip on the steering wheel. With a dark expression, he pulled the car over to the side of the road.

Tiana Grayson was also taken aback by Shirley Lockwood’s cry of "hubby." She turned to look at Leo Joyce, her brows knitting together slightly.

Shirley Lockwood had absolutely no idea she’d done anything wrong, nor did she notice how tense the atmosphere in the car had become. She opened the door and said to Tiana Grayson with a smile, "Come on, beautiful, let’s get out!"

"Oh." Shirley Lockwood’s call snapped Tiana Grayson back to her senses.

She answered quietly and followed her out of the car.

Annoyed, Leo Joyce slammed his hand on the steering wheel a few times. "Archie Lockwood, are you sure you’re trying to help me and not sabotage me?"

"Er, she’s just a kid..." Archie Lockwood conceded, knowing he was at fault.

’After all, his daughter was the one in the wrong.’

Leo Joyce sneered. "Heh, a kid? How old is she, and you’re still calling her a kid? Archie Lockwood! You have to make her change what she calls me! I’m not some kind of p-e-d-o-p-h-i-l-e!" ’No one but my Tiana has the right to call me that!’

"I’ll make her change it when we get back today. You know she’s been calling you that since she was little; it’s just a habit."

"If you hadn’t let her get away with it, she would have changed long ago." ’In the past, he could always ignore it and not make a big deal, but now, with Tiana here, his image absolutely could not be tarnished in the slightest!’

Archie Lockwood coughed awkwardly, eager to change the subject. "Ahem... uh... we’d better get out of the car. They’ve already run pretty far ahead..."

Leo Joyce glanced out at the street and saw no sign of Tiana Grayson or Rory. A wave of unease washed over him, so he could only let Archie Lockwood off the hook for the time being. He opened the door and got out.

Archie Lockwood breathed a small sigh of relief and quickly got out of the car as well.

The two of them headed toward the food street.

The street was packed with people, and nearly every stall was completely surrounded.

Archie Lockwood had only mentioned it to divert Leo Joyce’s attention. Who would have thought that after getting out of the car, he would find that Tiana and Rory had truly vanished without a trace.

With a grim expression and furrowed brows, he strode quickly ahead.

’Every other time they went out, he’d at least have a few bodyguards with them, so he normally didn’t worry about Rory running off. But now, he hadn’t brought any, and the only person with Rory was Tiana, a defenseless young woman.’
