Chapter 692: Chapter 684: Parting Ways

"Yes, I’m married." When she mentioned Cassian Jennings, a desolate look came over Amelia Avery’s eyes.

"So, is Cassian good to you?"

A faint smile played on Amelia Avery’s lips. "He’s very good to me." ’So good that I don’t know what to do. So good that I can’t help but hide under the covers and sob my heart out in the middle of the night.’

’How could I ever bear to leave someone as good as Cassian...’

"That’s good to hear. Congratulations on finally marrying the man you love."

"It’s wonderful. Marrying him is the happiest thing that’s ever happened to me." As she said this, the smile on Amelia Avery’s lips was one of undisguised joy. What she didn’t realize was that to an outsider, that same joy was tinged with a hint of sorrow.

Tiana Grayson, still worried, couldn’t help but ask, "Amelia, is something on your mind?"

"No..." Caught off guard by Tiana’s sudden question, Amelia Avery frowned, then forced a smile as she denied it.

"Amelia, if something’s wrong, please don’t hide it from us. We’re all good friends. Whatever it is, we can face it together."

At these words, the rims of Amelia Avery’s eyes quickly turned red. Fighting back the urge to cry, she forced a smile and shook her head. "Tiana, there’s really nothing wrong with me. But you... it’s one thing to not come back for so many years, but why did you change your phone number too? Were you trying to forget about me? Or did you decide I wasn’t your friend anymore?"

Although Amelia Avery was smiling as she questioned her, Tiana knew that Amelia was truly angry with her.

But she couldn’t find the right words to explain, because she really had intended to forget Amelia. In her heart, she had always believed that Amelia and Leo were together.

When she left, Leo had already been in Noridia for three months. She had waited for those three months, and they were the most conflicted and agonizing days of her life. It was then that she lost all hope and decided to move to Country M.

"Tiana, since you’re back, you should just be with Leo. He really likes you. And I’m already married. I shouldn’t be an excuse for you two to be at odds, or the cause of it."

Her petty thoughts exposed by Amelia, Tiana hastily apologized, "Amelia... I’m sorry, I..."

"I understand. You don’t have to explain. If Leo and I were ever going to be together, it would have happened a long time ago. So, Tiana, you should have faith in him. And you should have faith in yourself, too." ’Privately, she didn’t like the idea of something that was hers one day belonging to someone else. But Tiana wasn’t just someone else; she was her best friend. So even though it made her uncomfortable, she ultimately still wanted her friend to be happy.’

’That way, at least, she could find some small comfort. At least she wouldn’t leave with regrets.’

"Yeah."

They both fell silent. A few minutes later, Amelia Avery got a call telling her she was needed back at the office.

So in the end, Tiana didn’t get to ask anything else.

After leaving the coffee shop, they parted ways.

Amelia Avery drove back to her company, while Tiana Grayson went to a nearby hotel to find Leo Joyce.

The moment she walked into the hotel, Tiana Grayson sensed that something was off. She saw several employees stealing glances at her, and a few were whispering amongst themselves about her.
