Done Breeding: Now I Rule the Beastworld
Chapter 127 - 126: All’s Fair in War"I’m not going to eat her! Why do you have to follow me so closely?"
The man was panting heavily, but he didn’t dare slow his pace one bit.
The person he’d thought he could easily shake off was still tailing him like a shadow—unable to catch him, but never falling far behind.
"I’ll return her in a few days! I’m begging you, stop following me!"
They chased from dusk into the dead of night, then from night until the sun blazed high overhead. This continued for two or three full days.
Jinling didn’t know why he was being so persistent himself; he just had a subconscious urge to get her back.
"You said it yourself, you’ll return her in a few days. So why not just give her to me now?"
"Not now. I haven’t finished what I need to do yet."
The man shook his head firmly and picked up his pace, looking like he was about to plunge into a dense forest.
"In that case, there’s nothing more to say. If you don’t let her go, don’t even think about getting away."
After three days on the road, both men were a mess. In contrast, the clone of Chu Liangyu, slung over the man’s shoulder, looked much cleaner and neater.
----
「Void Island. Mid-air.」
"What’s wrong? You’ve been frowning for the past few days. Did something happen?"
Chu Liangyu sighed softly. "Yes, but distant water won’t quench a nearby thirst."
Ever since losing control of her clone three days ago, she had tried countless times but still couldn’t re-establish the connection.
This weighed heavily on her mind. Although the clone wasn’t particularly sophisticated, it wasn’t something a mere Barrier could so easily sever her connection with.
That person definitely wasn’t the Feng Qingqing she knew. They must have used some method to change their face, but for the life of her, she couldn’t recall what it might be.
It belatedly occurred to her to send a message to Lou Sang, but a long time passed without a reply.
Thinking about the special nature of this space, Chu Liangyu finally realized that the Trading System was probably disabled.
"If distant water can’t quench your thirst, why not find a nearby water source? Are you trying to die of thirst?"
Chu Liangyu shot him a cool glance, her red lips parting slightly. "You’re so clever."
’A guy with nothing but fish on his brain—could she really not have thought of a solution he came up with?’
’Tsk... he seems even dumber than before.’
"What’s with that tone? That didn’t sound like a compliment."
The words had barely left his mouth when the cry of a crane reached Chu Liangyu’s ears. The call was faint yet clear, and the bird’s breath plumed like a misty cloud, lending it an ethereal air.
"There aren’t many females as sarcastic as you. I don’t know how you’ve managed to live this long without getting beaten to death."
"I’m giving you a kind reminder. As a female who can’t even protect herself, you shouldn’t be shouting at males and being sarcastic for no reason. Otherwise, your life won’t be easy."
Chu Liangyu listened quietly without interrupting. After all, the guy wasn’t entirely wrong.
She was relying on her understanding of He Yushu’s personality, and with the trident protecting its master, she didn’t need to worry too much.
But if it were any other female, she would indeed have to take his words to heart.
"I appreciate the kind thought."
The expression on Chu Liangyu’s face relaxed slightly, and with all other emotion gone from her voice, she gave her sincere thanks.
It was just that, upon meeting again, He Yushu seemed to have picked up a new hobby: lecturing.
----
"It’s been two days since the tournament ended. Didn’t she say she was going to teach me Body Technique? Where is she?"
What Chu Liangyu had been worried about had finally come to pass. Unfortunately, her clone wasn’t in the tribe, so there was nothing to be done, no matter how anxious one was.
Xiong Jiaojiao’s expression was even uglier than hers. Only she knew the real situation, but she couldn’t say anything.
She knew that Chu Liangyu’s clone would never leave the tribe on its own; the only possibility was that something had happened to it.
Although she didn’t know what had happened, her job now was to help stabilize the situation.
"It’s all the same who you learn from. If you’re in a hurry, I’ll teach you."
"Didn’t you just learn it from her? Why can’t I? I want to learn from her too, and we already agreed on it!"
Feng Qingqing’s face showed obvious reluctance. Xiong Jiaojiao did her best to suppress her impatience and said, "Sister Liangyu must have left for something urgent. If you’re not willing to learn from me, you’ll just have to wait for her to come back."
Feng Qingqing pouted and said immediately, "Then I’ll just have to wait for her to come back."
Xiong Jiaojiao knitted her brows but ultimately said nothing.
’She had offered to help Chu Liangyu with these things before. Now that she wasn’t in the tribe, this was all she could do.’
Sighing, she beckoned a female over. "Go find someone and tell all the cubs to gather here."
"Sister Jiaojiao, is something going on?"
Xiong Jiaojiao nodded. "Starting today, I’ll be teaching them Body Technique. This is the chieftain’s will as well."
"Oh, I see. In that case, Sister Jiaojiao, please wait a moment. I’ll go right away."
The tribe’s tournament from a few days ago had just ended. Unsurprisingly, the females had won a landslide victory.
Xiong Jiaojiao thought they had performed well this time, so she had given them a five-day vacation.
These past few days were the most relaxed Xiong Jiaojiao had been. She just didn’t expect to have to work overtime.
Thinking this, Xiong Jiaojiao heaved another deep sigh.
"Where exactly did the chieftain go?"
The sudden voice startled Xiong Jiaojiao. When she came to her senses and saw Xiang Qiancheng standing behind her, she said casually, "Urgent business. Sister Liangyu didn’t tell me the details."
Xiang Qiancheng’s gaze held a faint, scrutinizing quality. It was barely there, yet it inexplicably made Xiong Jiaojiao feel a trace of pressure.
Although Xiong Jiaojiao wasn’t sure how much Chu Liangyu valued each of her Beast Husbands, she knew that Xiang Qiancheng probably wasn’t a particular favorite.
It wasn’t that she was being snobbish; it was just that, to her, Chu Liangyu’s position was far more important than any of these males.
She did intend to send someone to find Chu Liangyu, but not Xiang Qiancheng, who wasn’t favored by her.
"Something’s happened to her, hasn’t it? Are you sure you won’t talk?"
"If no one helps, and something happens to her, can you bear that responsibility?"
Xiong Jiaojiao’s heart jumped, and she blurted out, "How did you know!?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, Xiong Jiaojiao realized her mistake and glared at him, displeased. "You tricked me."
The secret she had tried so hard to hide had been exposed just like that. It was impossible not to feel flustered.
But at this point, she couldn’t take back what she had said.
What Xiang Qiancheng had just said was exactly what she had been worried about. Instead of finding someone else and risking the news leaking, it would be better to just let him help find Chu Liangyu.
"Protecting a female is the responsibility of a Beast Husband. You don’t have to be so guarded."
’That’s what they say,’ she thought, ’but I’m afraid of the kind of Beast Husband who secretly hopes Chu Liangyu dies so he can take her place.’
"Honestly, I don’t know when Sister Liangyu disappeared. There are no clues. It won’t be easy to find her."
Xiong Jiaojiao spread her hands, directly stating what she knew.
"Why didn’t you say so sooner!"
Suddenly, Xiang Qiancheng’s expression turned cold.
